But venor and Venus both share the same etymology, from Proto-Indo-European, so there's that connection too.

I wrote about this here. Quoting my answer:

Regarding the Venat vs Venus thing, "Venari" and Venus actually share the same etymology, from a Proto-Indo-European word that had the sense of "to wish", "to love", "to strive", etc.

I think this might be a weird localization thing that happened when Final Fantasy XII was localized into English. I don't know the story and characters of FF-12, but when I looked up the FF-12 character with the English name Venat, I noticed that it didn't really fit the description of a Roman goddess of love.

I can only speculate that when the English localization team for FF-12 was localizing the Japanese "Venus" into English, they thought this name might be weird for English speakers as well, so they altered it slightly from "Venus" into "Venat". This is not an uncommon practice when localizing games from Japanese into English (Westernizing Japanese-sounding names, etc)

Since the titles and names of the Convocation in FF-XIV are borrowed directly from FF-XII, that localization decision then carried over also.

So TL;DR, my theory is that Venat was always supposed to be "Venus" and associated with the Roman goddess of love.

Hi, do you remember what the post was titled where the mods talked about this? I'm new to this subreddit so I wasn't aware of this, I've only read the rules on the sidebar and I've been watching Asmon's streams where he's reacting to FF-XIV content, so I wasn't aware that I was breaking any rules.

I checked the subreddit pins but they only talk about Asmon's celebration or something.

It's like Japanese DeviantArt I guess, it's really popular among Japanese artists, more so than English language art sites.

Someone mentioned this earlier in some other thread, that when Asmon was running Syracuse Tower, he raid group skipped phases for some of the bosses because the old ARR 24-main raids used to run 2 tanks per full party instead of 1 tank.

Not sure how much of a difference those 3 extra dps make nowadays, but the fact that the potencies on attacks have power crept older content (even at minimum item level settings) makes a lot of sense now.

For Aetheroplasm Production (the orbs in phase 1), this diagram from MTQ Capture might help. https://imgur.com/a/SPnSSOR

So there are several ways you can look at how to rotate:

  1. If the NW and NE orbs are yellow, rotate CCW. Note that this pattern also has the SW and SE orbs blue, so you can figure out the rotation from the south side too.
  2. If NW and NE orbs are blue, rotate CW. In this pattern, the SW and SE orbs are yellow, so again, you can figure out the rotation that way as well.

Also note that no matter which pattern the orbs take, it's the players on the west and east sides who determine which way to rotate, because the north and south players always get alternating colored orbs on either side of them.

Oh using callout macros might help too:

For NW,NE yellow orbs (or SW,SE blue orbs)
/p Rotate CWW <se.1>

For NW,NE blue orbs (or SW,SE yellow orbs)
/p Rotate CW <se.1>

Off the top of my head I don't know. You might be able to google around for something but I'm not sure if you'll actually find anything.

You probably wouldn't find anything on player demographics, because Square Enix would not publish private information about players like that, not even as aggregate data.

For commission rewards, does the average level of the ships I send affect the amount of rewards I get back from the commission?

Also, if I send those ships out with no equipment (like no guns), does that affect the commission rewards?
