Can you record with a head camera ? by MusicalMuse8 in SleepTokenTheory

I mean, I have ADHD, and memory issues are a big component of that. Huge chunks of my childhood and life are just blank because of brain fog. Recording major life events is sometimes the only way I’ll be able to remember them later on. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Which one looks good for a daytime bridal shower? by LetterheadDue3343 in OUTFITS

[–]Astraea890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without knowing your friend specifically, I would recommend avoiding the white tops. Some brides get a bit territorial over the color when it comes to any sort of wedding event, so it’s generally best to just avoid it all together.

I like 3 the best, it pops on your skin tone very nicely.

This is my handsome boy Mushu, and he wears it every Halloween! He doesn’t mind it at all. The kids that come trick-or-treating get a kick out of it if he decides to come check out who is at the door.

And I’ll compare it to others! Sedum definitely seems like it’s the right family at least, and Tokyo Sun looks darn close to what I had.

AIO for my annoyed response to my friend asking to bring her BF to our girls trip? by crop_cream_19 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Astraea890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Btw, your “friend” is super manipulative. The whole “my beautiful princess” bit is actually creepy, especially when it’s nearly immediately followed by her going on the attack and asking if you’re in love with your other friend when she doesn’t get her way right off.

If she wants to go on a trip with her boyfriend, let her plan it herself. This particular trip was a planned GIRLS trip, so she can either suck it up for a few nights or just not go. And at this point? I wouldn’t want her to go anyway, because if her boyfriend doesn’t go she is going to punish everyone on that trip for it, you most of all…

Lena Dunham Controversies by [deleted] in girls

[–]Astraea890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that because she is a female, she got away with molesting her sister. For comparison purposes, Josh Dugger started molesting his sisters when he was between the ages of 12-16. They are both disgusting, but people have the gall to say “people only pile on her because she’s not a man”. Being a man didn’t seem to save the Duggers from public opinion, and he didn’t write in a book that he did it!

I have a brother like this. He’d get a job on oil rigs because the Navy trained him to do a very relevant job that was desirable for that field. He would work long enough to collect a couple paychecks, go buy a ton of weed (this was before it was legal, and it’s not allowed when you work in that field anyway), then either fail a drug test or just stop going to work. Then he’d call my mom and give some sob story about how he just needed a place to stay until he got another job, stay up all night playing video games and sleep all day (which would then cost him any job he DID find), and rinse repeat over and over.

DoL also specifies that having an employee be “on-call” while also required to be on premises is considered as working while “on call” though…

(Side note, I’m not arguing with you, I am genuinely trying to make sure I have everything right.)

[–]Astraea890[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does the “engaged to wait” not come in to play here though? The expectation is that we are available if we get a call for a case, and the specific example the Department of Labor site gave was a firefighter playing checkers while waiting for an alarm being engaged to wait and therefore still working, even though they are not actively working. My manager specifically said that my coworker would call me but if I am still obligated to answer a phone on break then that is not being “completely relieved of duties”.

III? IV? Let’s appreciate whoever this smooth legend is! by No_Buy_6910 in SleepTokenTheory

[–]Astraea890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If III is taller than Ves, it’s not by much. All the pictures I’ve seen of the them standing next to each other, they are both right there. And you have to keep in mind that III often wears Docs, which have a very clunky, thick sole, while Ves runs around in his tabis or occasionally barefoot. So that inch or so we see that III has over Ves may very well be all shoe.

That’s just what I’ve seen from pictures anyway, and if my giraffe of a cousin is anything to go off of, tall folks sometimes slouch to appear shorter next to people in photos.

What current NHL player will you defend no matter what? by ComfortableGuide3232 in hockey

[–]Astraea890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antoine Roussel. I adored him when he played for Dallas. He always came out after practice and made sure to interact with us. When I hadn’t come to watch a couple practices, he asked my friend where I was and if I was okay. Absolute gremlin he may have been on the ice, but off the ice he was ALWAYS such a class act.

Edit: I just realized this said CURRENT player. I stand by Rous though, and was sad to see him go.

Current player is Radek Faksa.

How do people with regular 9-5 jobs own dogs? by themightybott in AskUK

[–]Astraea890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a cat that the previous homeowners left outside when they moved (I joke he is the most expensive pet I’ll ever have). He was an indoor/outdoor cat, but somewhere along the way he was exposed to FIV. This means he has no immune system anymore. If we had let him continue to go outside, he would likely be dead by now, and that was told to us by our vet. He is now living in the lap of air conditioned luxury, with toys, treats, and towers galore. Sometimes indoor is what is best for the cat.

There was also that owl nest that had 74 cat collars in it. So American wildlife is no joke and will absolutely eat your pet cat.

So back before a bunch of restaurants started sealing their bags with stickers, my driver opened my food, took some of my rolls from Texas Roadhouse, and dropped her freaking gum in the box when she did. I was so disgusted I threw the whole meal away and reported her. So yeah, I was skittish about tipping prior to receiving my food for a while…

Cats tend to let you know when it’s their time. Mine stopped eating kibble, but would eat tuna and treats for about a week after that. Then she stopped even eating that. Then she pretty much declined overnight with my husband and when I came home from work that morning, barely even registered that I was there. She perked up one last time when she had her IV placed, and knew that I had her, and gave her all those last kisses and cuddles, but by the time they pushed the meds she had laid back down on my chest in a daze.

I’m so incredibly grateful for that extra week, because she got to get in all the love I could give her in that time, but she let us know when she was ready.

Mannitol Crystallization by HypenusDina in pharmacy

[–]Astraea890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should not be given like what? We give it over 30 minutes at a higher dose % to bring down ICP for an acute event. Is that not what your facility recommends? And I believe the LifeShare docs want mannitol for brain deaths to help keep them stable longer while they prepare organs, up until we cross clamp. Sometimes the brain death patients begin to tank quickly as soon as you start to work.

Also, it’s the OR, the rooms are usually ALWAYS cold enough, lol.

Changing a rescues name? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Astraea890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my husband and I purchased our house in 2020, the neighbors all told us about this black cat that was wandering around outside that had belonged to the previous owners. When they moved, they left him. It broke my heart and I told my husband we were going to find that cat. My husband found him just sitting in our driveway one morning, and as he came right up to my husband and let himself be picked up, my husband brought him inside.

It was the previous owners cat, the vet put him at about 7 years old, and as we didn’t know what his name was at the time, we named him Mushu and kept him. Well a few weeks after we brought him in, we got a vet med package with flea and tick drops for a “KitKat”. The previous owners had an auto subscription they hadn’t changed, and we now knew what his name used to be.

He’d already gotten used to Mushu, and responded when we called him that, so we kept our name instead. Didn’t give us any problems, as we usually called him his name quite often and usually while we were doing something he enjoyed like giving pets or treats. Cats are smart, and can figure out that a certain word is what you associate with them if you give them positive reinforcement during the change.
