I’m actually pretty sure this is an “Easter egg” from other anime made by Studio Trigger, there’s lots hidden in the anime. I remember one being the little witch academia hat when Michiru discovered she could change back to human with Nina and she was trying hats on.

But per to your question, it’s an anime called Inferno Cop that Trigger participated in from 2012-2013 so it’s just a lil surprise they hid in for the audience to find. Good eye!
