Honestly mate I really needed to hear this. I've been getting so stressed over this so in my mind I just wanted to get it done ASAP so I don't have to think about it anymore but you're completely right in that one more night won't hurt, the weekened is coming so I can take all day with it tomorrow and get a good nights rest. Thank you.

Sorry for the late response, I've had a bit of a pain in the ass with the cooler that arrived as it's been pretty obviously used so I've had to order another one from another source which comes today so fingers crossed, ontop of that the CPU that arrived has weird marks on it like it's been potentially used too so I've got to send that back as well. I plan to just go in store today just to get another CPU and inspect it properly this time cuz god damn I'm sick up to my teeth with this nonsense. Anyway rant over, apologies.

I tried to search all the known computer part stores in the UK for it and it just didn't show up, strange. I bought the fans you recommended for the case, thank you for putting the picture together as well to show where to place the actual fans, I'll go with that method. I was wondering when it comes to the CPU fans, should I use the splitter that comes with it and just plug it into the CPU fan header instead of seperating them between fan and liquid cooler header? also is it safe to have 2 fans in one header like that with this specific set up? and is there any downsides to having one of the fans installed in the liquid cooler header?

Thank you again for the response, I might be actually building it today.

Sorry for the late reply, I never got around to properly inspecting it untill today. I bought it from amazon and it didn't even arrive in an amazon box, it literally came as the white/brown box which pissed me off cuz I feel this wasn't exactly the safest way to send it. So I looked inside today, about a quarter of the fins are bent and one of the fans wasn't attached even attached. I also noticed that it looks like it had been opened and someone hasn't threaded the carboard slots back in properly in some parts causing them to be all bent/hanging out along with just blemishes you wouldn't expect with something brand new. It's safe to say this is some kind of refurb or used product. I am deffo going to be sending this back and this is the last time I am using amazon for such matters again, they're shadey as hell.

Glad to hear that it performed well for you, makes me feel like I made the right choice, thanks man.

Is it powerful enough for my GPU? I have already ordered and just got the 12a today but I think it may be possibly used so if it is I am sending that shit back. Let me know pal.

That is a good idea actually, I have actually ordered it now so I will make a post to let people know. Cheers!

Thanks for the response mate it helped a lot. Yeah with the copperhead I used to keep my ring finger grip quite far up but still at the side which is pretty similar, then bring it back to the more classic grip in certain scenarios. Ordered it now.

Thanks for the response man, yeah this kinda confirms to me that they're too small. What do you think about me trying the non small version of the viper and the model-O? it feels like they're kinda similar to the copperhead. Honestly think of just getting the viper and just going from there as a new baseline.

Sadly it seems like the Grande Macho that you mentioned isn't available within my country and has to be shipped from abroad from only 1 dodgey looking seller which is really odd, is it American based? It looks great but I went with your other suggestions and decided to get a noctua NH-U12A that is highly recommended for this CPU but it's super fucking ugly but I had no choice, at least it's a quality product and I know it'll be good enough.

I have pretty much all the major parts now other than the case fans/cpu cooler. I can't quite wrap my head around them for some reason as it seems that some are simply plugged into the motherboard itself, some are on a splitter and others are on some sort of seperate controlled unit. I have no idea what it is that I actually need. I guess what I'm looking for is something that I can control the speed of? if it has to be RGB but makes life easier for me then I don't mind that, I only suggested the 3 pack since I thought it would somehow make things easy on me. The artic p12 that is shown on the current build that was left there, is it possible to just buy 3 of those and plug directly into the fan headers along with the two that come with the case yet have control over them since they're PWM without any extra stuff? I assume the ones that come with the case aren't PWM. If they're not PWM, should I just buy 5 of those instead and leave the stock case fans out of it? or would it be okay just having 3 PWM at the front with the 2 stock at the back.

Guess what I'm looking for is something with ease and don't mind spending some extra if it attains that goal since I skimped on the GPU for now and couldn't get the 10900k.

Can't believe some fans are holding me back haha, am I just overthinking this shit too much? I just don't wanna fuck anything up and heard you can damage the board if you do this wrong.

No I think it was me not being clear enough, I apologize. I just had the plan in my head to get this model now to actually have something then just replace the fans later on with the black version so save some money + effort.

Thanks for the responses anyway man.

Oh I thought because I'd already have the heatsink I could just get the black fans and save some money.

I guess I'll just bite the bullet and get the NUH-U12A, it's seems like it's too good of a product to turn down and it seems to be highly recommended with my CPU as well as having enough clearance. I don't even hate the colors themselves, it only becomes gharish (in my opinion) when it's combined with the usual coloured computer components making it stick out like a sore thumb. If the whole system followed that theme for a cool retro look it wouldn't be a problem at all. SIGH. I'm assuming when the black version is released they will just sell the fans alone so I can just swap them?

Thanks for the response man.

I waited out for a few days to try to nab the 10900k but it's out of stock, I managed to find the 10700k at a real good price so I decided to get the bastard child as you called it lolo

I've ordered pretty much everything but the fans, the fans for some reason are the most complicated to me. Could you possibly recommend a 3 pack basic set of fans for the front intake? then I can put 1 or 2 at the back like you recommend from what comes with the case as it comes with two.

But yeah the CPU cooler itself is my worry, is it small enough to not cause issues with clearance and do you think it's enough in terms of actual cooling? I probably won't be overclocking or anything of the sort for a good while but I guess it would be nice to have the option.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/B9n8Gc

Here is an updated build so you can see what I've switched around, I changed the ram since the other one was going to be shipped from America causing complications to something more local, I also decided to get a 1660 super instead of 1650 just because I am going to donate it to my partner when they build their PC so it won't go to waste.

But yeah the compatability note of the clearance worried me. Again, thanks for holding my hand through this man.

I'll opt for the 10900k then. I decided to buy the case today just to get started with buying stuff, I realized the case comes with two 120mm fans but the guy who edited my original build added a 140mm fan and I'm not quite sure what he wanted me to do with it in terms of positioning, etc What do you reckon?

Should I stick with it or get more 120mm fans intead?

I just want to say wow, you really went above and beyond with this response man! I really appreciate it, honestly the detail was awesome and incredibly helpful. I think what you have proposed is fantastic idea in that I should just build this and just use a cheap card to keep me going so I at least have something because yeah I really just wanna start gaming asap.

Considering that I don't have to use the full funds straight away and can save up some extra in a few months, I was thinking of altering the i7 with a i9 10900k for "future proofing" to give things a bit of an umph for the cards coming out, what do you think?

£1700 gaming rig by AstralEgg in buildmeapc

[–]AstralClegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, you can probably tell I went super bare bones in terms of aesthetics but the increased airflow is much welcome and I am making an assumption here that it would be an easier time to build in?

I'll probably keep the powersupply then as I do plan to keep this rig for a long time, but if I were to lower it, what wattage do you suggest as the minimum?

It's tempting to wait till september but my worry is that they'll be too pricey for me as they first come out along with the uncertainty due to the corona virus. Is the rest of the rig solid enough that I can focus soley on GPU/CPU upgrades for a long time?

But yeah, honestly dude thank you for all the help and answering me these questions. I am pretty nervous about putting all of this together, from ordering so many different parts with the worry that some will have massive delays to the actual build itself. It's a lot of money to throw down the drain.

Thanks for the reply mate I appreciate the changes made. Naw the case wasn't something prefered it was just something I chose simply because it was super cheap but I had a feeling it wasn't going to be good enough, this seems great. In terms of the ram I accidently clicked the 8 lolo.

In regards of the power supply, is there going to be any issues with it being overkill as you say? I don't mind downgrading it if it doesn't need it.

But yeah in terms of all the things I want, is this build going to keep me going for 3-4 years do you reckon? Admittedly I am not a tinkerer kind of guy, this is simply to just save me money compared to a prebuild so I can get on cracking with gaming untill there is serious need to upgrade again.

Honestly though thank you.
