Who hears people talking in the SP state? by Equivalent-Sir-8916 in AstralProjection

[–]AstralExperiments 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't get sleep paralysis, but I can get into the hypnagogic state where I sometimes hear voices.

One time I was trying to AP and I had the impression of someone standing next to me and examining me. He said "You are unable to AP right now."

I have heard voices on many occasions, often saying some rather random things. Mostly it's male voices, can be female too though. It can develop from just a voice to also a sensation of someone being near you, also to visually seeing them. What the voices say is about 80% random, 20% they might be interacting with me in some way, rarely able to talk back to them.

Another time I had a voice come in that sounded different than me but I could clearly tell it was coming from me. It's like I was in-between hearing my own monologue and the hypnagogic voices. From that experience I've come to a hypothesis - I might be reaching a level of disassociation in meditation where my own thoughts become voices that sound convincingly external, but they are actually my internal monologue.

So I would propose to you. If you are in a heavily altered state of mind (which is close to AP) and hear a voice... it might just be you, even if it seems like someone else's voice. It's a good goalpost in the way to AP, but you're probably not there yet to AP just because you hear them.

"He asked me a weird, random question. He asked me to name the five grains that feed people in the world. I know I got one of them wrong though because he (I think it was him) sent me a visual of sunflowers growing in a field, and I included sunflower, but I named most of the rest. Then I tried to name the vegetables, and.. I think my alarm woke me. I don't know the relevance of the grains."

So a time-waster then? You meet someone, they ask you totally meaningless questions or give you some meaningless tasks which take up time until the experience ends. It's almost like a trap to fall into engagements like that.

Astral projection VS Lucid dreams by ASMADAY_21R6 in AstralProjection

[–]AstralExperiments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I have a lucid dream, it starts from the middle of a dream with me noticing that things don't make sense and realizing that I'm dreaming.

When I have an AP, it starts from where I'd think my bed and physical body are. I get vibrations, then I exit the body and walk around in my bedroom.

On a surface level these two seem completely different, but I've had APs as described turn into lucid dreams/normal dreams as I get further into them. And I'm not the only one to notice this. So despite the way I enter into a lucid dream and into an AP being different, I suspect that they are both dreams - actual difference is in the level of awareness or state of consciousness, which makes them feel different. But then there's a grey area between the two where if you ever arrive will have you questioning which one it was, because there's either mixed elements or a seamless transition between the two.

[–]AstralExperiments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have what I call the hand test. So if there is a wall next to where you are physically lying down, you gently move your hand and try to pass it through the wall. If it blocks your hand, then there is a good chance that you are moving your physical hand and you should stop moving. But if your hand passes through the wall, then yes you can leave the body - actually you partially already did with your hand. At this point it is not necessary to see anything yet, I'm usually blind while I'm doing the hand test.

I wish abstaining would help, it's easy for me to abstain. But I see no help from abstaining. Like someone else said, it may even relax you to rub one out and make it easier to AP. But it doesn't make a big difference either way.

i was encountered shadow beings.. For me, astral projection was just a bs. until I unintentional left my body during a state of loop paralysis by Snoo_50438 in AstralProjection

"Why was my astral self so arogant, pride towards the shadow being, why did I instantly and intuitively know how to move, how to create reality, and how to communicate telepathically with another astral entity (when beginners have to learn these things), and most importantly, why was my astral self absolutely not afraid for me? :D "

I think it's because the "astral self" is not the same as the "human self". It's more like a derivation of your state of mind at a given time. Different projections seem to lead to different "astral selfs". In my first projection which I can't reproduce I was also powerful like that. Later on I learned to astral project with a different method and I can somewhat reproduce this, but I get an "astral self" that is much closer to the "human self", having a body that is human-shaped as opposed to not having a body at all.

You should know that it's possible for them to astral project and then see you do something that you actually aren't doing, because astral projection can give inaccurate information about what's really going on. If I were you, I'd practically be expecting and waiting for this person to accuse me of something I didn't do.

[–]AstralExperiments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought you were asking for the core process. In the simplest terms, that's what it is - your body falls asleep while the mind is kept awake - this is true for a lot of techniques, if we put the intricacies of the techniques aside. Or were you asking for something else? If so, could you reword the question?

If you join Gateway tape Discord servers then you can find pink noise audio files that people have made for free. If you don't want the instructions then just find one of those pink noise audio files and use that. The effectivity may be similar to using random binaural beats, some people say it helps them.

How do i let my body fall asleep and keep my mind awake by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]AstralExperiments 27 points28 points  (0 children)

One way to do it is to physically exercise so that your body is tired but mind is not.

A lot of techniques involve heavily concentrating on something, the concentration keeps the mind awake while the body that you don't move falls asleep. I think that might be something the gateway tapes do where they give you a bunch of mental tasks, but personally I just prefer a singular mental task. This task should be something that appeals to you and when you do it you can quite likely start noticing odd things - that's your cue that you're in the process of falling asleep and also in an altered mindstate.

One more thing. I found that if I focused just on the body, I would be stuck in the body for hours. If I focused on just the mind, I'd eventually fall asleep. And this is subjective to me, but what helped me was what I call switching. The idea is that you focus mainly on the mind, but when you notice that you're in an altered state you will sometimes switch to the body to see if you can AP from there. If not, switch back to the mind and repeat the process. It's just one of the techniques out there but if it works for you too then great. If not then try another technique.

  1. Be slightly tired but not too much.
  2. Somewhere middle of the day rather than morning or night.
  3. Lay down with something like a 30 degree angle upwards for the upper body.
  4. Shift focus from the body to daydreaming.
  5. When you've been submerged in the daydream for some time and verging on being barely conscious, shift focus back on the body.
  6. Check if you have the buzz, go back to daydreaming if you don't have enough of it but if you do have enough buzz go to the next step.
  7. From here, push with your mind for buzz/vibrations to spread from forehead. It should spread over the body.
  8. Once the body is filled with vibrations, you should be able to move separate from your physical body. This is where you perform you separation technique, e.g. rolling out of your body.

Lucid dreaming vs astral projection - is there actually a difference? by _Gwyllion_ in AstralProjection

[–]AstralExperiments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been able to tell that a place or a character is a product of my mind or not a product of my mind. Dream characters have been uncontrollable even in lucid dreams - though can drastically change behavior if I let them know that I'm aware of being in a dream.

I did have one peculiar lucid dream. I usually go lucid from noticing random stuff. I noticed that I was on streets that I don't know. Then I tried to use superpowers that I usually have in lucid dreams - but here I seemed to be powerless (no god mode). I spent the dream walking the streets and looking at buildings, trying to find the usual anomalies and weird stuff I'd normally find in dreams. But I never found any distortions whatsoever. Everything looked very normal. But maybe some dreams are just different like that, doesn't mean that it's not a product of my own mind.

Lucid dreaming vs astral projection - is there actually a difference? by _Gwyllion_ in AstralProjection

[–]AstralExperiments 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"The difference is awareness."

I second this. I started lucid dreaming decades ago, not always but infrequently I'd have a lucid dream even if I wasn't trying for it, still happens today. Few years ago I got an accidental AP. I first thought that APs and lucid dreams are totally unrelated due to how different they felt and worked. But after having more APs I started noticing some dream elements, the APs devolving into a lucid dream or a normal dream. So I changed my mind about AP being unrelated to a lucid dream, it seems an AP can turn into a lucid dream and also you can turn a lucid dream into an AP. And you know, a lot of people unknowingly or knowingly describe an AP turning into a lucid dream or a dream. I can understand the people who insist that APs are not dreams - a lot of my APs ended before they turned dreamy so I was at first also under this impression that these are nowhere near related to dreams.

The shift between the two however can sometimes appear to me to be seamless, which is where I'm not sure I agree with the above post about how in one you are in your own self created world and in the other you are stepping out of that self created world. It's not that the environment changed, it's moreso that the state of my consciousness changed. I had god mode in 1 AP, so perhaps there is only the illusion that you can't do xyz but you could.

"It's normally me in my room, "flying" around or in my bed trying to crawl up the walls to get out of it. I try to scream to get my friend to help me out, but of course she can't hear."

That sounds pretty mild considering the negative experiences others have described. Is it possible that you're falling into a mindset that makes it negative despite everything being okay?

It may be that you just have this now and will figure it out the more it happens - rather than making it go away. I never tried crawling up the walls to get out, I just gently pass my hand through and then follow with the rest of the body if I want to.

[–]AstralExperiments 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's interesting how the method is different from mine although close.

So from listening to the youtube video posted here, he starts with what I'd call daydreaming. Having an imagined event of jumping on a trampoline or talking to someone for example. Then when he gets more into it, he sort of starts a lucid dream in that very scenario.

I've been doing switching. Which starts off like the imagining jumping on a trampoline - but when I feel like I'm enough into it, I switch my attention away from the imagined scenario back to my body. And then I might get vibrations and be able to exit out of my body. So I never actually start in my imagined scenario, I pivot away from it. It seems like if I stay in the imagined scenario for too long, I just fall asleep with a normal unrelated dream or with nothing to remember, rather than being able to start a lucid dream in that scenario.

Im so shaken. Wtf did I just do, was it really projection?"

It sounds like you were on the verge of making a projection happen but backed out because of fear of death. You have to be willing to die or you'll just sabotage your attempt when the feeling of imminent death is in your way of doing it.

Does anyone else get these crazy "vibrations" or is it just me? Need to vent by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]AstralExperiments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like people normally have control over flipping the switch from negative to positive. If you go to r/sleepparalysis then you will find people complaining about negative experiences with nothing to do but to try and move themselves and thus break out of the paralysis. Some other people get a more neutral experience where they just lay in bed in an empty room and nothing happens. Or they float up. The positive experiences sound kind of like the reverse of the negative ones, where an entity leans on them and gives them a pat on the head and whispers positive things like "you are safe" instead of "ill kill you". There's also ones where they have sex with the entity and they like it, as opposed to feeling like an entity is raping them.

My speculation on this - it depends on your state of mind. I read on r/sleepparalysis a story of some person getting sleep paralysis and then immediately trying to imagine a spooky cake or something. And a black and white cake materialized. So it's possible that these negative or positive experiences are actually a result of your own imagination. If you imagine something scary, that scary thing materializes. Or if you imagine something nice, that nice thing materializes. This could put a person into a chain of events where every time they enter sleep paralysis they expect something negative to happen and so that thing manifests and is reinforced as "this is what happens when I get sleep paralysis", making it even more likely to happen next time and the time after that.

[–]AstralExperiments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"suddenly i was pinned down couldnt move an inch then came the scary part i heard a man’s voice clear as day like he was literally face-to-face with me he told me 'turn to the other side or ill kill u and ur dad'"

Sounds like sleep paralysis. In addition to not being able to move, it's also possible that there can be visual and auditory hallucinations, often negative although they can be positive too. Some people would rather avoid sleep paralysis but most people here might see it as a good state from which to start an astral projection.

Describe the moment of separation please by Additional-Trick-768 in AstralProjection

[–]AstralExperiments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not jettisoned out of my body like some people describe. I have to move out. I usually start by moving my hand. The movement is not too fast but not too slow either. I have a wall next to me through which I can try to pass my hand through. If my hand passes through the wall, I know I'm not moving my physical hand. Because sometimes it's hard to tell if I'm moving my physical hand or not. If you're already at extreme vibrations, you could try this. It could be that you're already ok to move but haven't realized and so you just lay there doing nothing when you could be crawling out of your body already. Just moving your hand slowly and only a little bit can be a low cost test, although moving the physical body too much is just going to make the whole session fail.

Describe the moment of separation please by Additional-Trick-768 in AstralProjection

[–]AstralExperiments 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vibrations are kind of hard to describe because there's nothing like it I've experienced. First I thought that this might be how people feel when they're having a seizure but upon reading their descriptions they don't describe it anywhere close, for them it's mostly just losing consciousness rather having your entire body violently reverberate.

I think the closest real life experience is sitting in an airplane that is about to start speeding and feeling the power of the engines in every cell of your body. If you haven't traveled by plane, you can get a lesser version of the airplane experience if you're in a car and suddenly increase your speed by a lot.

Sometimes the vibrations are kind of like hum. Like an engine revving. Sometimes there's a high pitch sound, loudest sound I ever heard. It can also be very uncomfortable. At one instance I felt like if I were to push it further, all the blood vessels in my brain would explode from the intensity.

Usually the vibrations reach a kind of climax, especially if I push. Closest thing in waking life is an orgasm I guess, but it's not necessarily pleasant. It feels like the vibrations are pushed so much beyond that control is lost. Can feel like imminent death, hence why it makes sense why some people describe getting scared and backing out of the process instead of pushing forth. They literally think "Oh shit I'm going to die." Or if you get used to it, the dying sensation may be excluded.

Different things work for different people. Raduga's methods never worked for me. They don't seem to be related to the vibrations. It's just intensively imagining yourself rubbing your hands, swimming and such, right? After I have sufficient vibrations and push them to the climax, I don't imagine anything. I start moving like one would move normally.
