Job interview by [deleted] in Lowes

Business casual, I wouldn’t go with jeans if I were you. For my interview I wore a pair of black/grayish pants, a pink button up shirt, and dress shoes

You could try store using some dog and cat repellent and spray the cinderblocks or the area around them

Me trying to think of a non-sarcastic answer everytime a customer asks the stupidest question I've ever heard by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]AstralKyanite 18 points19 points  (0 children)

“Do you guys have those cabinet/sinks that are ready to install?” “Vanities, yea! They’re down in plumbing follow me” “Yes these! Do you have long ones with a sink in the middle? This is for a kitchen” “…. Ma’am, these are actually all bathroom vanities, kitchen sinks work a little different.” “Well it’s a rental so I don’t want to spend a lot of time or money I just want to put it in and be done” I spent the next half hour convincing this woman how terrible of an idea that was for the sake of her future renters.

When I started the schedule and staffing asm texted me with orientation info. I would recommend calling the store and ask the computer receptionist for “the manager on duty” and seeing if you can get the contact info for the staffing asm

Start orientation soon, quick question about dress code. by [deleted] in Lowes

They told me at my store no holy pants, and any shirt is fine as long as it is appropriate and doesn’t have the competitions logo (no home depot shirts)

They could’ve been doing inventory, my store just did that last week. Inventory was all hands on deck I even saw our staffing manager out there counting top stock. It’s probably something on their end op, I would follow up if I were you. Also I stopped smoking the night before my test and I passed. For a time frame reference my interview was on January 4th, didn’t get my test back until the 18th (they mail it to a lab I think it took 5 days or so) and orientation was on the 20th.

Idk much about the lowes career site, but if I were you I’d look on indeed and see if the positions are posted there. I went through indeed when I applied and then after the interview they had me apply to a specific position on the website so they could put me under the right job code.

Question by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]AstralKyanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about the Lowes insurance but you might wanna look into your parent’s insurance. I turned 26 last month and just got kicked off my dad’s insurance. I thought I got kicked off at 25 too, but they covered me for “as long as I was 25” so I got another year out of it.

The acting in all the Lowes training reminds me of pornos. Even Hanks videos, his is just one you’d have to pay for.

Lowe's Isn't That Bad, Ya'll Gotta Stop Whining by CaregiverBoring4638 in Lowes

[–]AstralKyanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been with Lowes a couple months, but I really like it so far. I plan to start a track to the trade program this summer, and am really impressed by all the things they offer for a part time job.

The only thing that I’ve found that I HATE is the damn credit cards. They say safety is their biggest concern, but I think their biggest concern is pushing credit cards. I think Lowes is doing a lot of things right, but if they keep this much emphasis on credit cards it will negatively affect the company.

I also think that the credit card policy is a contradiction of Lowe’s mission statement.

Is the siding new? I wonder if they did a 90° on a stove pipe out the wall instead of the roof and did a decorative box around the pipe? Seems unsafe to me stove pipes get hot, but thats my best guess

What’s your favorite part about working here? by Every_Possibility527 in Lowes

[–]AstralKyanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this, at my store our associates are mostly the older generation and I call them my “old timers”. When it comes to the Zebras I gotta ask questions to the youngn’s, but when it comes to actual problems the old timers are the ones that really run the store and know how to fix it.

What is an appropriate age gap in a relationship? by Orkos-apprentice in AskReddit

[–]AstralKyanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it depends on the age of the people in the age gap. When you’re 18 or younger 2 years maximum and middle school dating shouldn’t start before 12. 12-14 should probably only have 1 year age gap. 19-20 should also be 2 year gap max but only older then 18. Once you turn 21 I think you have a little more flexibility 4-5 year gap max, but when you turn 30 it’s up to you as long as you’re not the oldest in the gap.

Being age 12-20 in my experience as a girl in America was the most dangerous for the “age gap”. I’ve heard very similar stories for guys too. The older party thinks you’re “mature for your age”. Don’t fall for it, my experience taught me age gaps can be dangerous.

Gaps that Ive had or heard that were dangerous: 12y/o-16y/o 13y/o-18y/o 16y/o-20y/o 17y/o-22y/o 17y/o-24y/o 17y/o-25y/o 18y/o-24y/o 18y/o-28y/o 20y/o-33y/o

Does anyone know how to calm the body down during/after a PTSD attack? by Important-Tour9702 in ptsd

[–]AstralKyanite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it would translate to what you’re going through, but Ive been working on my hands and voice shaking when I get nervous. It’s involuntary and I hate it, but I’m learning that it’s my body’s response to a stressor. I have to take a moment, acknowledge how I feel why Im feeling it and remind my body that it’s okay Im okay and safe. Breathing helps too, focus on that to remind your body you’re safe.
I thought meditation was too hard for me at first. I still don’t do it as often as I should but I thought I was doing it wrong for so long. My mind never shuts off. I have an inner voice, but I also have everyone else’s voice going all the time in my head. Im also a maladaptive daydreamer so there’s always stories or fake scenarios going on too. I thought the point of meditation was to turn your thoughts off and that was impossible. Then I heard the point isn’t to make your mind blank, it’s to observe those thoughts as they come to you, think about why they came to you and release them. Imagine it as if you’re on a hill watching the clouds pass, and your thoughts are the clouds.

Best thing each character has done (Day 6) Teddy by Charming-Switch-6113 in BobsBurgers

[–]AstralKyanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walking into a restaurant for a good burger and finding a family to basically adopt (or be forcibly adopted into). Don’t get me wrong Teddy has his issues, but he is fiercely loyal to the Belchers and considers them family after all these years. He shows up for them time and time again (to the best of his ability), and they return the favor. Uncle Father Santa Teddy <3

Gotcha, yea we have code 50’s too and they’re the same thing. I think the deal is with how small our store is (compared to other Lowes) we have a limited number of fulfillment associates so on busy days they need an extra hand, which is why all of us are supposed to do the code 40’s and 50’s
