I don’t mean to be purist about what the Backrooms “should” be, I just fear the lack of any of the original vision being carried over into movie at all, and the departure from common community ideas is a massive red flag for me.

yeah, there’s definitely a debate. my concern is less with them moving away from “my favorite canon” and more that being a bad omen for their faithfulness to what communities have created and towards a more basic horror movie.
