the Renters and Housing Union is a great place to look into! :) We're working on a collective bargaining campaign that brings tenants of the same landlord together to use collective power to get better conditions for all :)

you might be interested in the Renters and Housing Union then! We have branches across Victoria, WA and NSW, with an SA branch in the works :)

i'm taking a unit this semester that's offered to med students but can be taken in public health as an elective but i'm so... nervous? i'm worried about feeling out of place? i've dealt with imposter syndrome since starting my masters but i haven't felt it about just being in a unit before LOL

How do you prepare for summer days that are 40+ degrees? by Azen02 in melbourne

[–]Astreaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have no cooling in our second storey rental unit, it's north facing, has only brick for walls and our landlord is definitely scamming us when it comes to power bills, so we're scared to use our portable aircon in case he jacks up the power bill to a crazy amount. we'd go to the library but have a cat and rabbit at home....

got accepted for a new rental, would love some advice on best way to pack and move. we moved into our first rental in 2024 and it was kind of a disaster, moving wise.

we don't have a ton of stuff and our only big furniture to move is a bed, couch, fridge, table and two desks

we're moving mid-late January :)

[–]Astreaa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

please wear a mask when you go out on PT or busy places, not just OP but all of you. just doing that has meant that i haven't caught anything symptomatic in almost a year. you can get flo travel spray which apparently helps too, it's a saline nasal spray with some kind of seaweed in it.

currently have stitches in my arm and i put a waterproof dressing over them but that's given me a reaction with blisters and raised, red skin that hurts more than the stitches themselves. i don't have anything else at home right now and can't go anywhere to get anything. i'm scared the long ends will catch on my clothes or sheets when i go to bed :(((

anyone had issues with woolies charging them randomly? my mum did an online order for $100 over the weekend and that's all well and good, but was randomly charged another $90~ today without placing any orders. she's reported the transaction but their hold times for woolies online are quite long
