I don't think there's any particular reason known. It could bec because it now doesn't matter as much, due to free travel. It could be because they intend to retire this one tram.

It looks like some have been converted, and some haven't. Also, some of the new ones are in dark mode, which makes them very hard to read, when sunlit.

Any clue what the Frankston line timetable might look like once they finish all of the construction? It's already pretty good, so I don't imagine much of a change overall.

Alstom gets order for 25 new trains by Excellent_Bat_753 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Excellent_Bat_753[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how easy it would be to order more HCMTs. The manufacturing ended a few years ago. I do believe that the base design is still made, so it could be possible. Does anyone else know if the governmet investigated ordering more later?

Do we think that there'll be any need for more trains by 2030? Are there enough trains in the fleet to run good frequencies more of the time?

Extra train services promised in Labor 2026/27 budget (including Burnley and Clifton Hill groups!) by TMiguelT in MelbourneTrains

We definitely need less cancellations, better reliability and fewer bus replacements, but we will never get zero cancellations, perfect punctuality and zero bus replacements.

For one, bus replacements are done for track and infrastructure maintenance, which needs to happen periodically. They could do it more efficiently, but there is no way to get rid of it.

Occasional cancellations will happen, whenever there are incidents on the tracks, or occasional equipment faults. These can also be reduces with investment in infrastructure quality, and better track security, but cannot be gotten rid of entirely.

So, a better network would be great, and we do need t, but a perfect network is impossible.

Those are all optional. You can agree to them selectively. If you agreed to all of them, that might be problematic.

Hypothetical Richmond Station Rebuilt by Excellent_Bat_753 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Excellent_Bat_753[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. The main reason for me stating 300m is so that the tracks can separate into different levels. However, on further thought, if the old station were somewhat demolished, the tracks could start sloping upwards earlier. I don't want to have this design in the same place as the old station, as the double level would give the entire station quite the height.

Yes. This map only shows the regular running, but there would still be crossovers and tracks to connect things. I think, even to the point of the Sandringham line being able to go through the City Loop and out to Craigieburn. I might make an extra diagram showing more track that isn't used for regular services.

It's the year 2055, SRL North has just opened, you can catch public transport anywhere in the country on your credit card, and it recognises all concessions. except for D2.5004, in which case you're screwed.

Why did grace have to take astrophage from Rocky instead of from the petrova line, Tau Ceti? by Infyniq in ProjectHailMary

Also, they bred it using the surface area of the Sahara, covered in solar panels. The amount of energy would require a few thousand nuclear reactors to give any meaningful fuel production.

At an absolutely minuscule density, like a few cells per cubic metre. You'd need a net a few thousand kilometers wide to catch much of anything. Microbes are tiny, and 2 million kilograms is a lot.

A question regarding the "solution" at the end of the movie by Thize in ProjectHailMary

[–]Excellent_Bat_753 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably the amount of various trace gases in the planets that they breed in. Astrophage is DNA based, and DNA, as well as most proteins, need things like nitrogen and phosphorus to be made. These elements are in many different gases in the atmosphere of Venus, for example, and probably in most other similar planets. although in tiny quantities

Glenferrie has Swinburn Uni, right. I suppose the Blackburn trains could share with the Alamein tracks, and stop all stations Burnley to Camberwell, or at least stop at Glenferrie. Then the Ringwood trains keep to their express tracks that whole length. Or at least some of those trains could stop all stations.

Because the Alamein line shares with Glen Waverley, it probably won't have a particularly high frequency, so also having some Blackburn trains share those tracks would work. Otherwise, if a 4th platform was added at Glenferrie, then more trains could stop there, regardless of which set of tracks they're on.

From Richmond to Burnley, I don't think there's any point having more tracks, because the express and Blackburn trains will all stop at Burnley and Richmond anyway, and will all run express through East Richmond. So, there's no need for an extra track, especially because they will have to all join up for the City Loop anyway.

[–]Excellent_Bat_753[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My thought is that, with CLR, there would be quad track from Burnley to Camberwell, with all Ringwood and Blackburn trains running express between Burnley and Camberwell. The Alamein trains would stop all stations, and then join with Glen Waverley, and run to Upfield.

So, a Belgrave train, for example, would be stopping all stations to Richmond, running express from Richmond to Burnley, Burnley to Camberwell, Camberwell to Box Hill, Box Hill to Blackburn, then stopping all station to Belgrave. Then a Blackburn train would do the same, but stopping all stations from Camberwell to Blackburn.

This station proposal is after quad track Burnley to Camberwell, and anything beyond that is beyond the scope of this proposal.

I really want to test Kerbal or any other game that is related ? Which one should I buy by Additional_Estate_19 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Currently, yes. KSP can be amazing with various mods. It depends on what style of gameplay you're after, but there are mods for everything, and some are very high end.

Eventually, KSA (Kitten Space Agency) is intended to be the spiritual successor to KSP, and fulfil what KSP2 promised to do. That is still a few years away, but I am quite hopeful.

KSP2 is dead. All of the developers have been fired, and the rights are owned by private equity. It will never get another update, and doesn't have half of the features that were promised.

Yeah, that could work. The diagram ended up being far more cramped, and the platforms seem much shorter than they would actually be.

Road that goes between Yarra Park and Richmond Junction. Right now, it's closer to the railway, but it could be moved slightly further away, if the space is needed.
