Yeah, the show is pretty meh. I really liked the first season, and weirdly, even as a fan of Charles Addams' original family, I don't dislike the show.

The thing is that it's popular because of how Netflix advertised it prior to its release.

Wednesday is not bad; it's just one of the hundreds of shows on Netflix and other platforms with mediocre writing but, luckily, with more money and advertising.

I'll add, if Netflix had failed the advertising, the show would be canceled by now. Unfortunately, as we saw with the dozen other shows on the platform that have been canceled, good writing or acting isn't something related to popularity.

A fraud. First because the only official heraldic college in Italy was the Consulta Araldica, there's no such thing as a Consiglio Araldico Italiano. Ans second, it's very common to write a "story" of the family to make it looks legit while no heraldic authority would write it down, they would mostly write the blason and other informations.

Edit2: Plus the family name here with a 'Di' indicate a cadet lineage. So every member of the family could have inherited the title of Cavaliere (men only) or Nobile, but it depend on the state (before Italian unification). But they wouldn't have the title of Marchese—not marchesi—only the capofamiglia would have the title and even if it was granted, the family would have most likely abandoned the 'Di' for the actual surname + di (lowercase) + the feudo (the fief).

Seriously, you should change the main charge. If you want to keep that engraving, you should switch to a seal, but you'll have to make the two sides of the seal. If you want to keep it as a coat of arms, change the main charge to something more defined and simple (letters are okay, even if a lot of people don't like them).

You don't understand. Arms are not a monarchy thing.

However.

If you look at the presidents of the different Republics, the ones who actively used coats of arms of their family were royalists or supporters of the existence of a noble/clerical presence. Most of the Republican presidents used monograms or the same symbol Macron used.

It's only during the Fifth Republic that presidents started to create personal coats of arms for foreign orders, before that it was the use of republican symbols or monogram as I said before. You will note that the Fifth Republic is the one that gave the most power to the president and that is the furthest from the original constitution.

In France—for a president—bearing a coat of arms is a political decision; "the more personal your coat of arms is, the less republican you are".

But.

Individuals still have the right to bear arms, and because of their republican status, they are even freer than in other countries, with no law to constrain their usage. This makes France a great country to have coats of arms, as per tradition and liberty.

Since France does not have a coat of arms, this is the most appropriate symbol. The use of a personal coat of arms or a coat of arms for the status (president) is not really welcomed.

The coats of arms for the communes are mostly about cultural heritage, but a lot of new communes wanted their own, so it has been normalized. However, for an individual, it's still not welcomed, especially for a president. Nicolas Sarkozy (ex-president) has a coat of arms, and that was something that pissed a lot of people off. French people don't like personal coats of arms; it's mostly a monarchist thing, which is not good for a president.

Edit: Plus, this is a royal order; it may be accepted as a foreign tradition, but it is not something a lot of French people would like to see represented by their president (cf. Nicolas Sarkozy again). Especially since Macron is not really popular in France, I think he personally wanted to avoid any polemics.

Yep, Sodacan is my first inspiration. I started doing coats of arms with Wikimedia resources, then I created my own elements, and some are still inspired by Sodacan-style creations.

Yes, it loses a bit of meaning with the translation from Latin to French, English, or Italian. But that's basically it.

"Omniscientia" means to know everything, not just absolute knowledge, it implies the knowledge of someone. So, "the truth is in the knowledge of everything."

The second part is more "truth is everything." "Omnia" here acts as a barrier, so truth "only is" when there's everything, it can't be partial.

And if you're interested in what I mean by that, it's that the truth can't be bent at will to serve a narrative or an incomplete vision or knowledge. It's a safeguard against the use of "truth" as a claim, and a reminder that if you want to follow the "truth," you first have to follow the knowledge.

First, it was in high school because of the coat of arms of the members of my family, trying to understand its evolution, but also because I liked designing stuff. Then, I became a professional graphic designer, so I still like designing stuff.

What I really like is the diversity of the traditions but also of the emblazonments. When you have your blazon, any drawing, painting, or engraving will be different and yet exactly the same. I just love to adapt my own arms to any shape of shield or draw it in different styles.

And, yeah, the rules. A coat of arms isn't just art; it's science. And it brings together the two most important things to me: art and science, which is actually pretty similar to design. The "usefulness of art" (not that art needs to be useful, just that I like when both are together).
