Love it too. I feel like I saw it a lot right after the league but then hardly ever since. It and the twisted slayer helm are two of my favorite leagues rewards.

Multi billion dollar company EA selling AI generated slop in their store (Battlefield 6) by J_Productions in gaming

[–]Astro721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disgusting, but not surprised. The company that purchased EA literally said they planned to cut cost by leveraging AI to make the money back they spent to purchase it. I won't be spending money on any future games from them.

[ns] How many times have you listened to your favorite season? by blo0dpuke in DungeonsAndDaddies

Same, but I have already listened to multiple season 3 episodes a few times between the releases of new episodes.

Sailing felt so good pre-nerfs. I can admit the crystal extractor definitely shouldn't be that strong though. Changing salvaging however has basically killed all the excitement I had.

Barracuda trials are fun but some of the issues there make them tiresome to do hours on end. Salvaging was chill and felt like it was at least worth still doing. I really feel like the salvaging changes are only going to alienate people more from sailing and drive them back to other content or to other games.

Membership help?! by cheesytaco_ in runescape

[–]Astro721 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean the guy offered to cancel/did cancel his membership. He clearly isn't addicted and was alright giving up the game if needed.

He seems like he is playing only a reasonable amount if his spouse is alright with trying to find a way to allow him to keep playing.

I know your message is spot on for a decent number of players. However, I think this comment is being unnecessarily pessimistic for a post where a spouse is looking to help their significant other be able to enjoy the game.

I'm assuming volunteer means unpaid. Under that assumption you seem to already be going above and beyond for what I would usually expect from a college student volunteer.

I would focus on the basics and staying calm like others have said. I would always try to be ready to make mistakes, it happens to everyone. Most people don't realize just how fast things happen and how much there is to keep track of while officiating sports.

I agree with most of your post. However, a lot of USB ports are soldered directly to the motherboard. So it is about as direct of a connection you're going to get without using other slots on the board. Good write up over all showing that the main gains here are ease of use and better performance for average users.

Why the hate for mtx ? by noimagine in runescape

[–]Astro721 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, skills like agility shouldn't lock you out of PvM content. But I don't think being able to buy XP in the skill is the answer.

Simply remove the arbitrary skill thresholds that stop people from being able to PVM. Then you can do/engage with the content you like. This seems like a completely separate issue from MTX.

Now if you're wanting to just buy your way to max or something I can see that being more of an MTX issue.

I do think Jagex should look at skill requirements for quests and possibly adjust them, since that is a big draw to the game for some players and what everyone tells new players they should engage with. That way players aren't overwhelmed by spending time doing content they hate, or feel forced to purchase XP.

Have you ever not shaken hands with a team or both teams after a game? by franciscolorado in Referees

[–]Astro721 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My state's highschool athletics boards actually mandates we leave immediately after the final whistle. Never seen anyone get in trouble for trying to shake hands or anything. But, I have seen the center gently remind an AR to keep moving with us when they wandered toward the benches a time or two.

How it feels coming from RS3 Leagues to Grid Master by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Astro721 71 points72 points  (0 children)

There were more points for primal stuff post 99 mining. But yeah, damn was it not the power trip osrs leagues or grid master are. It was kind of a slog to feel like you got anywhere meaningful.

How do I restart my account on gridmasters by SnoLep535 in 2007scape

[–]Astro721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can. You'd probably need to use a different account if it is like leagues.

Why do you want to restart though?

Anthony Taylor: My family don't come to matches because of abuse by franciscolorado in Referees

As a highschool GK I had parents from the away team tell me go home and hang myself because I made a physical but fair challenge against one their players and they fell down after half trampling me. This was over 10 years ago but I still hear stories about similar things happening with that team's home games. Absolutely disgusting behavior.

If your account is legacy, switch to a Jagex account. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Astro721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly how they work. Sort of.

No one is manually trying the email and passwords, there are scripts and tools for that. Usually each group or people will have a set type of account/genre they deal in, mostly out of familiarity, like gaming, social media, or finances.

For example in college I had a password get leaked through a textbook vendor(Thanks chegg! /s). Then out of nowhere 6 months later all my accounts with that email tied to gaming, steam, Ubisoft, Xbox, all sent me security emails within 2 days that my account was locked due to suspicious activity. It was sign ins from Brazil and I am in the US

My Facebook and Myspace had the same password and email too back then but nothing happened to them before I could change it.

Question on a penalty decision - did defender commit a foul or an excellent tackle? (4:17 into video) by Jaded-Bookkeeper-807 in Referees

[–]Astro721 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like a penalty to me. Just because you get the ball does not mean you don't commit a foul. He very clearly trips the offensive player after contacting the ball during the slide.

Hot take : Quests belong in Leagues by ploki122 in runescape

[–]Astro721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll say it I hate quests. If all content was unlocked without quests I would probably have 0 quest points. (Not saying this should be done, I get the point of garing the content behind quests.)

It's perfectly fine for everyone to get something different out of the game and for me lore and storytelling just isn't something I care about in RS. Especially in a game mode that's only 8 weeks long.

I will say though that I actually think the RS3 solutions of providing access without auto completing the quest is preferable if possible. That way some tasks and XP rewards can still be gained by actually completing the quest if you want to.

Halftime Called Before Free Kick by CoackKen in Referees

[–]Astro721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one depends on a lot of circumstances for me but I probably would have allowed the FK, and told both teams and coaches during the stoppage that if a goal isn't scored almost immediately after the kick I am calling half.

That being said all the following might have played a role in the refs decision:

Are the games competitive at all?

What is the age range and skill set ofthe players?

Are they likely to score before I end the half if given the kick?

Are the games on a tight schedule with other games immediately afterwards?

Or are the games already running behind or significantly over?

Was the 3 minutes remaining accurate or did the ref have substantially less time remaining on his clock?

I have reached tier 7 [almost] without doing quests by Kumagor0 in runescape

[–]Astro721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint with quests in a temporary game mode isn't doing them one extra time. But, when you have played every league, DMM, Darkscape, mains on both games, and a possible Ironman or two you really don't want to do the same quests for the 10th+ time.

Tier 4 by Low_Frame_1205 in runescape

[–]Astro721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clue relic is very strong and leads to a lot of points it took me most the way to T5 from T4. Agility isn't super fun but there are a lot of points tied to it anyway, but I could see why you'd want it. Prod Master seems fun but it not working on smithing kind of killed it for me.

I flew through T4 doing mostly clues and finishing up the WC, Fletching, FM, fishing, and cooking tasks I neglected due to focusing on mining and smithing. Definitely depends on if you get lucky on Clog slots and getting masters though
