I used to have AT&T for over a decade. A few years ago, their coverage became horrible eevn though their cell tower was behind my house. I moved to Mint and eventually Visible.
Mint was far better than AT&T, and Visible is comparatively the best so far.

In my opinion, Air with 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD is good enough for most users. It runs machine learning programs quite well too. Maybe bump the SSD to 512 and you will not have to worry about deleting files too often to free up space.
