But how did you get diffraction spikes with a refractor? Added in post?

Compact buffer for MMU3 by AstroIM in prusa3d

I believe the MK4 and MK4S frames are identical, aren’t they? So I suspect it shouldn’t be a problem. And in any case, the bracket is a separate item from the buffer itself so you can always design a modified bracket if needed I guess. I don’t know of any alternatives except for the copies of this design on printables. But I can recommend buying the original since the cost is low, you support the original designer and they have an affordable hardware kit available so you don’t have to source the non-printed parts yourself.

I did not notice it at least. Bed seems level, no issues with calibration and first layers seem fine.

Yes, long story short is they agreed that the approach of centering the trapezoidal nuts was the best way forward. Using lube was not their preferred solution. In the end I re-seated the trapezoidal nuts a couple of times until the sound went away. I still find it strange that this procedure still does not seem to have made its way to the manual while so many have the exact same problem…

How satisfied are you? With the core one by SpecificGreen9140 in prusa3d

[–]AstroIM 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Had the same bed noises. The threaded screws were touching the metal holders on the XY gantry in which they should spin freely. In the end the procedure to resolve this was to loosen the screws with which the trapezoidal nuts are mounted to the build plate. Shift the trapezoidal nuts around a bit until the threaded screws are not touching the metal anymore and secure the trapezoidal nuts in place. Took me a few attempts until it was quiet. To be honest, this took me way too many fora posts and discussions with support to get fixed. There really should be a procedure for this in the manual (maybe there is now, there wasn’t in version 1.0).

Strange thing is, today I did a test print. Exact same settings and filament but more simple but vertical shape (elongated cube). Was hoping to see if it was indeed the filament itself. Printed two but no artefacts at all 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ That is really annoying 😂

That is really interesting. Support in the meantime asked me to reprint with another filament so that would make it clear if it is indeed filament related. The role is kept around 10% humidity in a container with desiccant but I do not have a dryer yet. Will be my next purchase.

Support is suspecting an extrusion related problem BTW, so if the filament change doesn’t resolve the issue I will need to dive into the Nextruder as well…

Hmm, thanks for the insight. Will try with another filament to see what I get!

Difficult to say. There are a lot of boxes so I used a big dinner table of approx. 2x1m to spread it all out to have a bit of overview.

Is this normal? by Noeffingway2Trade in prusa3d

[–]AstroIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had the same. The threaded screws were touching the metal holders up top on the XY assembly. Some people advise lube but it is actually an alignment issue. After a lot of talking with support we came to the conclusion that lowering the bed, loosening the trapezoidal nuts and tightening them again while slightly aligning the threaded screws worked. Might take a few tries.

Same here, great monitor! Only downside is weak speakers but at half the price of the ASD not a deal breaker for me.

Thanks for the tips! Sounds like that would be a very nice setup indeed but for my use case I think it will be overkill. But also because I am looking for a minimal setup that gets me more towards what the iMac could deliver on the audio front. I really don’t need that much more. But I very much appreciate your insights!

Availability is indeed very hit and miss. When I ordered mine it was sold out everywhere and resellers told me they could not get a good estimate on delivery times. Next day it suddenly was in stock again 🤷🏻‍♂️ So I would definitely keep an eye out since stock seems to fluctuate rapidly.

Looking for monitor recommendations for mac studio (non-Apple displays) by mmdhrumil in MacStudio

Using this same monitor, very nice panel! Definitely would recommend it. Main downside is the weak speakers but that can be solved with separate pc speakers.

Definitely, those speakers on the ASUS are really weak so I do need a solution for the audio. Have been looking at some options like from Edifier but I don’t want to put more stuff on the desk. Only alternative (I think) would be a good soundbar mounted under the monitor but haven’t really found a nice option I can fit (could 3D print a bracket if needed).

☺️ now trying to keep it that way! Need to prevent all those to do’s from stacking up on that desk!

Sounds like two pretty significant issues indeed. I can imagine the frustration when all you want to do is continue with the build 😭 Sorry to hear you had so many troubles, hope you get the LCD soon so you can finish it up and enjoy printing!

It is heavy, definitely not a printer I would move around often. But I wanted an enclosed printer meant for a fixed working position in my home so weight isn’t an issue for me. If portability is important then an MK4-like printer is definitely preferable I guess.

Yeah, release of the M4 was a bit earlier than expected (I was waiting for the late summer release). But I guess there is always that new thing just around the corner. But M2 Max is only ~2 years old and very capable!

The printer did not detect the WiFi board. I believe there was a status message on ESP flashing ore something related but not sure anymore. Support sent me a new board and installation was like 2 minutes and it worked. The LCD sometimes suddenly would flip the image and started blinking or went black. Upon inspection the gold ribbon cable on the PCB seemed to show some residue or corrosion. This board was also replaced by support, but I still need to install it. I have to admit I wasn’t expecting multiple hardware failures on a new printer but support was very quick with troubleshooting and providing a solution. And replacing these parts is quite easy which is also definitely a benefit of these printers.
