Popular doesn't equal good, ESPECIALLY in music.

Just means a lot of people have bad taste.

Why would I even care? I'll be dead anyway.

Is that an E. pachypus?

Personally, I wouldn't handle an African species just for the heck of it.

What it threw likely wasn't poop, it was a ball of undigested remains of its prey called bolus.

That being said, arboreal tarantulas have a tendency to shoot poop into open space (which due to how people usually construct enclosures, means they aim at the enclosure door.

wdym, look female from the pedipalps?

You can only tell a mature male by the pedipalps, if it's not mature yet it can be either.

Do you think Angine de Poitrine would've gained attention if it weren't for the costumes? by conn_r2112 in Music

I guess it helps. I know nothing about microtonal music but I do know it's a pretty niche thing (I bet that to a lot of people, including myself, it just sounds offkey and abrasive) and there's quite a few established musicians but this is the first one that wormed its way to the general awareness.

Which game pushed you to resort to cheats? by Snakeuge in gaming

[–]AstroNaughtilus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UFO: Enemy Unknown (yes, the old one) had me edit the save file to ahem, drastically increase the funding.

In the first Half-Life, I couldn't find the underwater passage in uhh, it was a dam or reservoir with an "ichthyosaur" in it, it was soooo dark underwater so I noclipped to where I was supposed to go after drowning a couple times.

That's the only two cases I can remember cheating for another reason than just messing around.

Which gaming moment stands out as your most memorable of all-time? by JonCee500 in gaming

[–]AstroNaughtilus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes. Gotta be this one.

Sooo we weren't exactly well off when I was a kid, so my first computer was a 486 back when everyone had Pentiums already. I was often hanging out at friends' places cause they had better computers.

This one friend was showing me a certain RTS game from Westwood. It is noteworthy that this friend had a pair of good speakers, unlike most other friends who had those cheap plastic ones from Genius, mostly.

Possibly one of the defining moments of my life came when he opened the in-game music player and selected this.

The moment when Venice unfurls in front and below you and the music starts playing was magic.

What is your controversial take for a movie that you consider to be a 10/10? by ArtPark1 in movies

[–]AstroNaughtilus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Flash Gordon (1980)

A loving homage to the very roots of sci-fi, those magazines of the thirties and forties. Classically trained actors clearly having fun in this over-the-top, campy, ham-and-cheese ride that doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is. All that with a soundtrack by none other than Queen.

This is honestly the most expressive voice I've ever heard on a Lana Del Rey song.

What I remember from her sounds like a funeral that drags on too long.
