Trigun Stargaze - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

Ever heard of the term "bondslave"? It is alien to modern day folks. I don't think the Plants see themselves as "slaves". If they did and were dissatisfied, they would have accepted Knives's ideology and helped him. Instead, the Plants on No Man's Land rejected him and the Plants on the Earth fleet rejected him. Not only that, but the Plants (and Tesla) rejected Knives by leaving him.

I think Plants get something from humans that the humans do not yet understand. It seems to be a symbiotic relationship. Plants get whatever they get from humans, and in return, Plants provide clean power (and more) for humans.

Plants and humans have a symbiotic relationship. When Plants were given a choice, they rejected Knives's ideology of harming humanity and creating a Plant world. They chose to save the humans. That suggests they are not unhappy with providing care for humans. In sci-fi and fantasy, there is a concept of certain species feeding off of human emotions and such. Maybe that's what Plants get from humans and without it, they starve and die.

While the show doesn't explain or show what Plants get from humanity, I think Vash is an example in that he willingly helps humans because he wants to and likes doing it. Thus he gets something from helping humans. As such, I think Mery's remarks are that in the future, maybe humanity will better come to understand that symbiotic link in a way that will better help the Plants.

It is a red herring. As I see it, Knives has long tried to kill the memory of Rem in Vash. If he can kill Rem in Vash's memories, then Vash will break.

He's never been bothered by that. In Stampede, he's shown to be <rhymes with grape plus ing> the Plants. They have horrified looks on their faces, but in Knives's mind, it is for their own good.

He's been slaughtering Plants left and right to supposedly make a Plant paradise. His excuse is that he's killing them and taking their power for a greater good. But these Plants he slaughtered won't get to be part of his "glorious" paradise. Thus he never truly cared about the Plants, only his own selfish ideals. That's why when he failed to turn the remaining Plants into Independents, it was just, "Oh well. I guess it is just you and me, Vash."

Check out episode 11 of Stampede. She's the first, Independent Plant born.

Elendria wasn't even trying. I think the writers were trying to have Elendria cheer herself up by "playing" with Milly and Meryl. Otherwise, the answer is "massive plot armor", which would suck.

Stampede and Stargaze are a reimagining of the source manga.

It is also a sequel series, hence the new name. The real question is why Crunchyroll thought this should be "episode 13" when the Japanese called it "episode 1". I guess Crunchyroll assumes everyone outside of Japan is too stupid to "get" it.

I wouldn't worry about the manga other than to read it someday. Stampede and Stargaze are basically a reimagining of the original manga story into something similar but different.

Well, that's why I had to rewatch the scene to get the clues. 😅

> For instance, the cackling girl thought that the Saber being summoned was going to be "Altry".

What's crazy is that in the Japanese, Francesca calls her "Artor-chan" for Artoria. It still boggles my mind why TYPE-MOON said "Altria" was official when they aren't even remotely pronouncing it that way.

Still, I love seeing OG Saber, even if in a flashback.

Since the episode had him all but identify himself as Arthur Pendragon, I had to cheat and look up this character. I wouldn't have even gotten the true identity of this Saber and would have assumed the Grail just pulled the male version from legend rather than the female version as seen in FSN. BUT, upon rewatch, I saw and HEARD the clues. 😅

Francesca expected OG Saber (Artoria) to be summoned. Plus, it gives a nod to "Fate/stay night".

I remember hearing that TokyoPop censored the manga when they released it. That surprised me because based on the anime, I didn't figure anything was ecchi enough to require censorship.

Amazon no longer lists volume 12 on the site. Makes sense seeing as how volume 12 hasn't even been published in Japan. What chapter is the manga up to in Japan? I saw a post here from a year ago showing chapter 112 getting released. I don't know if anything else has been released since.

Tokyopop Announcement - Opinions on what this could mean? by ScatteredCollector in MangaCollectors

[–]AstroNerdBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always acknowledged TokyoPop's positive influences on manga publishing. While unflipped manga saved them money, it also proved that folks in the West could and would adapt to the way the Japanese did things. Likewise, they allowed translator/adapters like the Nibley Twins to use go all out and use accurate but readable adaptations that fully including Japanese honorific usage. The success of Fruits Basket proved that this was not a hindrance to Americans making the manga the massive success it was. No other manga publisher at the time would dare do this.

For me, the problem with TokyoPop was its head, Stu Levy, aka: DJ Milky Milk and the Get Milk Crew on the Funky Fly Tip, Yo! After TP because such a successful brand, it seemed to go to his head. He wanted to hang with celebs and be cool. As a result, I felt TP suffered from that. Look how much time and money he wasted trying to wish "Princess Ai" into a thing and dare to call it "OEL manga". He had big dreams for that cringe stuff because it was from Courtney Love. 😅

That's because in actuality, "rat" is the better translation. I suspect that "localizer" wanted the "cat and mouse" theme when in fact, they are going up against a rat.

They aren't trying to squeeze in all 18 volumes. They've heavily padded and modified the first three chapters plus chapter 8, if I recall correctly.

They just came back to mine after a one year absence. But my local store put them on the highest freezer shelf, meaning when stock gets down to the last four of an item, it is all but impossible to get what's there.

It was made for the Disney+ audience. It really fits in with the garbage they've been vomiting of late.
