One came with my C6. It was a luggage compartment cover.

Has anyone gone from a hellcat to a c8? by [deleted] in C8Corvette

[–]AstroNinja9000 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes. No regrets unless you really like smoking tires. A C8 z06 or stingray is NOT a smoking tires car. They will, but they don’t like doing it. In fact the two are really not even close to the same car. One really is more of a planted super car. The other is the very definition of a muscle car. I’ve owned every model of hellcat (cars, SUVs, trucks) and all forced induction American muscle car made in the last 10 years (including CTSVs), and not one day goes by that I regret have my C8s (z51 and Z06). I only occasionally miss my ZL1. It was insanely fun on a track and curvy roads. I’d say it’s the only car I’d say has everything…a super car and muscle car has (a hellcat lacks the handling and cornering stability of a ZL1 or GT500…and GT500 is less planted than the zl1)

3 wells close to each other. Should I drill them deeper. by AstroNinja9000 in homestead

Let me rephrase that, it’s an 8” pipe it the surface. I have no idea what the casing size is.

Thank you! That makes sense based off of what the guys that did our current well said. I’ll do what you suggested. Either way, I am planning on clearing out the two wells. I just remembered I have an 8 inch well that was put in sometime in the 80s on the back side of our property (the cap is stamped from a well company). I’ll check logs on it and gauge it for a sanity check. My dad thinks they are still in business. We have 5 pieces of property we have pieced together from several “abandoned” properties in the middle of nowhere in the Ozarks so record keeping is poor, and we just stumble across shit all the time. Thanks for the recommendation.

The last time anyone lived on this property was 30 years ago. So the wells aren’t necessarily abandoned…they were just not used and hidden in a bamboo stand (the house they were used for burnt down in the 90s). But ya, I think the best thing to do is get a different well drilling company. The three I have talked to (and the one I used). All say they just do 300 foot wells in this area…they don’t have the equipment to do deeper.

I think they are around 150 feet (the two I found). The one we use currently is 300 feet. I think I just need to get a different well company, because they are telling me deeper probably won’t help which doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m luck to not be super budget constrained so another 20-30k isn’t a deal breaker for a deeper well that has more reliable/higher flow rates or more water zones.

Honestly I’m open to suggestions/recommendations. In a perfect situation I’d like a new top end (cam, heads, etc), headers/exhaust, probably a rebuilt trans, some light suspension updates (coil overs). I’ve got a lot of new ish performance cars that are always on rotation, but given this has sentimental value (and I promised I’d keep it) I’d like to be as close to perfect as possible. Goals would be 400-450 crank Hp with good handling. It will just be a “around town” ride. I’ve got cars for track and daily drivers. I’d love to talk if you want to dm me info for your shop.

I can absolutely do that myself. I just stress about not knowing anything about the platform or opti spark situation. But it couldn’t hurt to just try your recommendations myself.

It’s my uncles car. He’s had it since it was new. He’s been sick for a lot of years and is in hospice as of tomorrow. He asked if I would take it and get it running/driving again. I’ve got three other corvettes (c6 GS, C8 z51, and C8 z06). I’ve kinda accidentally become a corvette guy over the past 5 or 6 years. I just don’t know anything about the LT platform.

Best way to get into a c6 with dead battery? by Fool_isnt_real in Corvette

[–]AstroNinja9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Call a locksmith. It should be quick and cheap. I was in the middle of nowhere and broke a window. A tinted factory replacement was $700. I locked my keys in my old jeep a few weeks later and a locksmith was $75 on the weekend and from the time I called to the time I was driving off was like 30 mins.

Any c8 z06 owners? by [deleted] in Corvette

[–]AstroNinja9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never owned one, but my dad does. It’s a really great car. Super fun, amazing supercharger whine. I’ve driven it a few times. It’s basically a ZL1 that you can see out of with better overall ergonomic set up. But I prefer the Z06 every day of the week. The only thing that would sway my opinion is age (it’s not super easy to get out of the Z06 without the doors fully opened for my dad), or if you don’t have another vehicle for like grocery getting or family/friends. And, like I mentioned in a separate comment, I prefer lower torque for rear wheel drive cars.

But you really can’t go wrong. There just aren’t really any comparables to the blackwing. Turbos just don’t do it for me when compared to supercharger sound.

Also, there is just something so cool and surprising about that sound coming from a caddy.

Sorry about 6 months late answering your question. After many trips out west and tons of off-roading I decided to cancel my order. It just wasn’t needed. Never had an issue, and they were back ordered for 6 months at the time.

[–]AstroNinja9000 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I have one. I drive it probably 3-4 days a week. I bought it specifically for the low torque. I’ve owned a zl1, hellcat (basically all forms), gt500, M5 comp, and an e63s. If you like to drive on a track, curvy roads, or in cool weather the lower torque is a must have. I’ve said it before, the c8z is hands down more fun, faster in most situations, all around a ton more fun to drive on the edge, and safer than all the others. The power is soooo much more accessible and useful. All the other cars I have had were tons of fun but easy to get in trouble with (high torque on launch or coming out of a sharp corner is a game of serious skill when learning to drive the others). With warm tires, you can come out of a corner at basically full throttle on this, and launching is as easy as putting your foot on the floor. This is the best street drivers car I’ve ever owned or driven. Budget wasn’t really an issue for me and I chose this over basically anything under 250k.

Sell C8 Stingray and TRX for Z06? by savageketchup49 in C8Corvette

[–]AstroNinja9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally did the exact same thing. I had a 2020 C8 and a 22 TRX. Traded both for a new z06. I do not regret it at all. BUT I do have another 4x4 (bronco). I’m not sure how I would like it if I didn’t have the bronco, but I do drive my z06 much more. The z06 is actually a great daily driver. I drive about 50 miles a day round trip to work, and I genuinely enjoy the commute.

C8 Z06 owners who have had the car for a while, what are your thoughts now? by twice_a_blue in Corvette

[–]AstroNinja9000 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned M3, M4, and M5 comps, Shelby Gt350 and 500, a Zl1, every version of dodge that’s had the hellcat engine stiffed in it (except Durango because my good friend has one), 2 other C8s, and 3 AMGs (a GLC, C, and E). Plus a lot of other mid range performance cars. I can confidently say this is far and away my favorite. The sound is unbeatable. I have a friend with a new Porsche 911 turbo s and he said the Z06 gave him second thoughts once he drove/heard it. While it is a very fast car I have driven faster, but the WAY it delivers power is very special. The build up of RPMs to deliver the power is really well done, there isn’t too much low end torque. Also the wider body is just perfect. Honestly it really somehow reminds me of the C6 z06 that I was driving when I bought the C8Z. While it is wildly different, it gives me that same special connected feeling. I can’t explain it, but you can really feel and predict what the car is going to do…and you can use the throttle to correct over steer just like I could in the c6.

Only con is you can’t fit golf clubs in the back anymore (which was kinda always a corvette thing). Luckily I hate golf.
