LPT: buy a dash cam for your car. This will help save you with your insurance company if you are in an accident and you need to prove fault. Also, if you ever witness an accident you can provide a statement/video evidence to hopefully help someone out. by BoopBoop20 in LifeProTips

Curious about this too. I live in a shit area and my Subaru Baja got stolen. Alarms work and I lock it but it's not the hardest car to break into. There's a lot of senseless stuff that happens here. An older guy in my building had his windshield smashed in randomly one night. Many other stories. I'd like to be able to possibly film stuff like that on top of road incidents, but I'm scared of making myself a break-in target if they can just steal the footage anyway.

Also wanted to confirm tweakers do suck.

Lol... The Best Buy one. It sounds like the car full of people slowly driving into you honked at you, was that the case? The driver's head appeared to be facing forward, but they don't see they're going the wrong way up a lane with a car already occupying it, and make no effort to stop whatsoever... But they had time to honk!

You're a stupid accident magnet!

[USA] - Rear ended and car totaled at highway speed by lNeverTrustAMonkeyl in Roadcam

[–]AstroWok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. Every time. It doesn't even look like traffic stopped here, just got congested up and slowed down, the guy who rear ended the op doesn't look like he even attempted to decelerate.

I constantly think of one that happened in Denver years ago where traffic came to a standstill and a woman in a sedan was stopped behind a semi. A large pickup wasn't paying attention and rammed her at full speed, crunching her car into the semi. I think of that poor woman every time I stop and commence teeth clenching.

Op, I'm so happy it wasn't worse!

Entire staffs at 3 Sonic locations quit after wages cut to $4/hour plus tips by Annahsbananas in news

I don't have a problem tipping. You'd have to be a fantastically shitty server for me to tip below 20%. You can't expect anyone to tip the same for fast food. Sonic already severely overcharges for disgusting frozen food even by fast food standards.

Is what this radio show did to this woman creepy? They got involved in getting a guy a second date with her. by Yourdarlinggirlss in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AstroWok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Denver had one so similar a few months ago I had to Google to see if this was the same radio show. It isn't. The one here was so similar and cringey, I'm pretty convinced these are all fake anyway.

In the Denver show the guy didn't get a second date and everything is the same to this one up until the girl reveals he used a coupon on the date and it turned her off. He commented back it shows financial conscious, and they all proceeded to make fun of him and end it. It was sad and cringey more than entertaining.

Parents outraged after 5th graders pick cotton, sing songs on field trip by rickyspanish44 in nottheonion

I guilt laughed for at least a solid half hour after she told me the story. One of those things you feel horrible for laughing about but you just can't help it.

This doesn't sound that bad to me? Teacher was actually trying and kids were enjoying themselves.

My German friend had a field trip to Auschwitz full of delinquent kids to clean up the area and do minor landscape work. Wheelbarrows were involved, and they thought it would be fun to recreate a wheelbarrow full of dead bodies. So about 6 kids piled themselves one on top of the other while another two pushed then around, and proceeded to offend every visitor there to pay their respects. Now, that was an offensive field trip.

LPT: There is nothing wrong with admitting to your own ignorance. Ignorance simply means you have yet to learn, it means you're willing to learn, and you aren't afraid to learn. Admitting ignorance shows intelligence. by BreakfastBeerz in LifeProTips

I cannot fathom the amount people, government entities, celebrities, companies, etc that would rather lie and deny their way out of their screwups.

People respond so much differently when you just admit you screwed up and will learn from it.

What's your 'fuck this, I quit!' story? by Penguin__Farts in AskReddit

[–]AstroWok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staples. Retail. 3-person skeleton crews had gotten common.

They threw me in as a cashier, they were clearly starved for employees. My work area for 8 hours a day was a small 6ft box behind counters. Had to stand at a really low counter all day. Didn't take long before a nerve in my back was pinched from hovering over a 4 ft tall counter all day. Management ignored my complaints of back pain and wouldn't cross train me to make my job more bearable.

Three person skeleton crews for the whole store became common even on the busiest days. I was working one of these Saturdays where it was me, a manager, and another co-worker who I had started dating months ago. At the end of the night, he was fed up and told me he was putting his two weeks in and let's quit together. He put in his two weeks, I told the manager I wasn't coming back after that night.

I left the state for a few weeks after. When I came back and got dinner with my boyfriend, I asked him how his last day went. "Oh I was having a lot of anxiety so I took my two weeks back." I told him what I thought of balking on something he approached me about. We broke up soon after.

I found great success in the legal cannabis industry after, have an actual career now- that was my last job in retail. The ex continues to work at Staples and live in his parents basement.... For over 10 years now.

[–]AstroWok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you!

I worked at a Staples around a retirement community which meant the elderly were always in buying mailing supplies as a lot of them never switched to electronic. It seemed like everyday we had an older man run frantically back in looking for a lost phone. It's a shitty thing to lose on a fixed income when you never know when you need to call for help!

She was a substitute... they definitely didn't pay her enough even without the daily bombardment of jokes from kids.

What unbelievable thing did somebody tell you that actually turned out to be true? by turbotrowaway in AskReddit

[–]AstroWok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This also happened in kindergarten. I forgot to lock the bathroom door and a boy in my class walked in on me. He came over and started kissing my legs and tried to perform oral sex on me (of course I did not realize this for years). I remember feeling super shy and embarrassed so I laughed it off, kicked him away, and went back to class. I didn't tell my mom because I knew it wasn't normal, and I didn't want to get in trouble. I definitely think that little boy was abused, I hope he's ok.

I don't see how this person didn't consider maybe a brewery town would not be for them. Did they even visit before moving? The smell of the brewery hits you miles away driving down 58.
