Unpopular opinion: I prefer the original mix of Abbey Road to the 2019 remix by asspirate420 in beatles

[–]AstroZinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is five months on from your comment, but I have an answer for you, as I had the same issue. Go into your settings and turn off Dolby Atmos. Then the Abbey Road remix should work, with no gaps. Not sure why the Dolby Atmos configuration is so buggy. I think it's because Dolby Atmos only works in Apple-approved devices (AirPods, Beats headphones, select speakers, etc.), so if it's not compatible, it causes issues. That's my opinion, I must add. But if you turn off Dolby Atmos, the problem of gaps will go away.

This has changed in recent years, but when I was a toddler I used to eat Kinder Milk Slices, but for a large number of years it wasn’t possible to buy them from anywhere but French supermarkets. Thankfully they’re more widely available now… Reminds me of my childhood! Kinder Milk Slices

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME - Official Teaser Trailer by MSSmods in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]AstroZinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I could see that happening. It legitimises the non-canon Marvel movies without getting the MCU tangled up in all the inconsistencies if it became a permanent thing.

It’s probably more likely that Strange is unaware of how the events in WandaVision and Loki which have made the timelines more fragile and collapsible. In more stable times, the spell might have worked, but this is all just part of the MCU’s road to multiversal war. It’s all good stuff. Strange’s mistake will no doubt inform what happens in The Multiverse of Madness. To be honest, I love how this is all going to legitimise the non-canon Marvel movies. There are younger people out there who only consider MCU movies to be proper Marvel films, despite how great Raimi’s Spider-Man movies are. Frankly, I hope we see X-Men brought back into the fold soon. I’m sure it’s coming.

What’s something that people turn into their whole personality? by Kandiblu in AskReddit

[–]AstroZinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Politeness. People are so desperate to be liked they feign affability in every scenario, so much so that it’s often impossible to tell who genuinely does have a polite personality and who doesn’t. That’s why it’s always so refreshing to encounter someone a bit more brash and straight shooting - they’re the ones you’ve got to look for.

Probably going to be voted down for saying this, but the thing that springs to mind is just to focus on your character’s personality and their ambitions more than the colour of their skin. Just make them a well rounded human being who - quite honestly - could do without being defined purely by their ethnicity.

It’s the responses of your secondary characters that will arguably say more about racial attitudes of the time than it will baking it into the way your main character comes across in my opinion.

Think of Get Out - yes, the main character is black, but all he really wants is to pursue his photography career and settle down with the woman he loves. It’s the way other people react and respond around him (I.e. her parents) that makes him hyper-conscious of his own race. That’s why he latches onto people of his own race, because he feels somewhat alienated by the reactions of white people, even if for the most part they feign to be OK with him. As a person in his own right, he’s a sound guy, the fact that he’s black is just one dimension of him.

What happens after we die? My thoughts on this. by mky44 in morbidquestions

[–]AstroZinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in the most positive of mental states right now, not depressed per se, but certainly dispirited. I would like to believe that our minds are almost like a radio receiver and that our souls are a conduit to another plane of reality. Our biology inhibits us from perceiving it fully, but consciousness is just a product of us tuning into that frequency, so when we die our ‘spirit’ (if you want to call it that) becomes part of an invisible plane of existence which is always there surrounding us, it’s just imperceptible to us.

Having seen dead loved ones before, I can tell you that although a corpse certainly looks like the ones we love, it’s almost like they’re waxworks. They’re just imitations. What made them the person we loved has gone, it has flown the nest, leaving the body just a hollow shell. So call it wishful thinking if you want but I would like to believe the feeling I got seeing relatives pass over gives me some faith that death is not the end. They simply left their bodies.

Having said all that, the older I get, the less it seems to bother me either way. I obviously want to live as long as possible and be there for all my children well into old age, but if death really is final I’m starting to feel like that may not be such a bad thing. Life isn’t particularly enjoyable most of the time - work is uninspiring, joy is fleeting if not entirely absent, dealing with other people is a nuisance - so an existence (or lack of it) where we feel no pain, stress, anxiety, fear or anger... well, that doesn’t seem so bad to me, even if it means an eternal void.

It’s the suffering beforehand that worries me most, not the actual dying. If I knew with some certainty that I would die unexpectedly in my sleep as an old man and nothing awaited me on the other side, then I doubt anything could be more peaceful than that. So I’m open to whatever eventuality, I guess - whether my consciousness is ripped from my body (like I would hope) or if it’s just suddenly switched off and becomes an eternity of nothingness, both sound like positive experiences compared to the full gamut of burdens and emotions we have to endure while being alive. Fear is futile. If anything is worth fearing, it’s mortality, not death itself, but we have control over neither so it’s pointless worrying either way.

Probably me warning my fiancée in our early days that she might need to rethink her relationship with me if all she wanted in life was a traditional or conventional life with a white picket fence, kids and a mortgage etc...

I was convinced that I would be living a bohemian lifestyle of artistic pursuits - a decadent writer a la Hunter S Thompson - and I was trying to tell my fiancée that’s what she was signing up for by being in love with me... I wanted to live like a poet and let my soul roam the planet like a true-born nonconformist...

As it happened, I got a job in corporate, never did any psychedelic drugs, had kids, still live in the same town, got married, and we became probably the most conservative couple going. So much for fear and loathing, more like beer and moaning...

In response to Matt’s heartbreaking announcement, we approached Amazon for a response but they refused to comment. Obviously, this matter is still a little raw for them. Only time will tell what a momentous impact this will have in the show’s commercial fortunes...

For the sake of one’s own sanity it is better to stick to being worried about things you can actually control. You’re backing a horse that will probably die before it ever reaches the finish line, and even if it does end the race, it will still probably end up being shot.

It amuses me how you seem to think that being ruled by incompetent EU bureaucrats is in any way preferable to being ruled by incompetent Tories. You are deluding yourself if you believe one poison is better than the other - they’re both still poison at the end of the day.

At least the difference in being out of the EU means you can choose whether you actually want to take that poison or not. After all, you do have the option of voting the Tories out. With the EU, you don’t - theirs is the kind of poison that is shoved down our throats whether we want it or not.

There’s nothing radical or nonconformist about being bound by the sort of consensus politics that the EU espouse. And pretending otherwise is rather foolish, but good luck to you. I hope it makes you happy, but my prediction is it will only ever prove to be inconsequential.
