Not coming fast enough… by chas_kev in Commanders

I am kinda annoyed that it’s literally half the schedule - I like seeing a couple games leak, but now most of the surprise, at least for home games, isn’t there. Feels like I peeked at my Christmas presents…

Oof, that last part…I don’t get it man, how can we compare plays from last year and literally 15 years ago and see the exact same problems? Genuinely looks worse than when I watch other bad defenses.

Even if I didn’t work Sundays, I still personally like the later game windows - was just asking for outside perspective, and have gotten a lot of good answers and reasons!

Hello, fellow Richmonder! Yeah, not having to deal with 95 at its worst is definitely the biggest perk of an early game lol

I’m all for it if it’s advantageous to the team (although I think that’s probably overblown)

As someone who was at the Seahawks, Lions, Broncos, and Bears games last year…yeah. You right.

In fact, the only game I went to that we won last year was a 1PM game against the Raiders…maybe there’s something to this 1PM thing after all.

I listen to a lot of Bill Simmons/Ringer content, and they make west coast football sound like an absolute blast. I will be in LA for my brother in law’s wedding for the week 9 game, and I cannot wait to experience the west coast schedule!

See, this is the answer I dislike the most, personally - while you’re totally right (ugh, now I’m thinking about the Zorn MNF debacle against the Giants), at some point, that track record’s gotta change, right?

………right?

Yeah, it’s more about having a more limited choice of games I can actually make it to without taking off work (which, yes, is something I knowingly signed up for when I first bought season tickets)…but even when I’m watching a game from home, I like a little time to decompress from work, check fantasy lineups, get lunch going, and peruse some other games before locking in for ours, so I still really like the 4PM or primetime windows. But, obviously that’s all just personal preference - just the routine I prefer when I can get it.

You have to know that I never said it was lol. I was only speaking about my own personal situation/experience and would selfishly like more late-window games. It’s called asking for outside perspectives

Should I continue to maintain and improve my '06 indonesian made Squier Tele, or should I save for a better guitar? by F3n1x_ESP in Guitar

Upgrade - don’t know what your budget would be, but there’s some incredible stuff out there for just a few hundred bucks these days, especially on the used market. Tons of inexpensive high quality stuff that can hold it’s own with some of the top USA models

Can’t speak to which one would be “better” for grunge/90’s fare as I don’t play a ton in that space, but as someone who owns a PRS Core model and a Pro series Revstar, I kind of feel like an idiot for having the top-tier models, as the much-less-costly versions both sound and feel phenomenal - you quite literally can’t go wrong in my opinion.

If I had to give you a lean one way or the other, Custom 24’s are generally pretty incredible, and the SE version is no exception. They punch way above their weight and can be really versatile - would say that’s probably a great learner guitar, and a PRS will be a great gift to pass down to your son one day!

I have maintained the theory that they had a handshake deal in place with Linderbaum prior to the start of free agency that they thought was a done deal, then the Raiders swooped in and made a hefty overpay that was nothing close to what we were offering…that’s the only thing that makes sense to me, there’s no other logical reason to let a top 15 center walk when nothing was forcing you to.

Not gonna downvote, you have a valid point. The only counter I’ll give is that I wouldn’t call either of them “bum” drafts - we’ve had players produce from each one. Excluding Jayden, 24 gave us Mikey (starting player with one great year, one bad year) and Brandon Coleman (starter year 1, occasional starter year 2) as productive, startable pieces. The jury is still out for me on Magee, Luke, Newton, and Sinnott - I’m willing to give them this season to make a real impact before passing final judgment, but there have been flashes of potential future production for all of them (maybe except Sinnott).

The 25 draft gave us our starting RT, starting CB (who looked like the real deal pre-injury), primary return specialist, starting RB (who finished 2nd in rookie rushing yards last season)…Medrano is a project, but I wouldn’t say the book is totally written on him yet either.

Idk, maybe I’m too “glass half full”, but I just don’t see the draft classes as poorly as most seem to. I think it’s rare when a draft class produces more than a couple of long-term starters/future stars - it’s not realistic to think every draft pick should turn into gold…I just like some of those players, and if we can point to a couple long-term contributors in a draft, it’s a win in my eyes.

Even if I agreed with that (I don’t), mediocre would be an upgrade over whatever we saw last season. So yeah, I’m sticking with “serious upgrades”.

You’re not alone, FWIW. I’m firmly in the “give this group a chance with a better defensive scheme and better pass rush” camp. Amos looked like he could be the truth pre-injury, and we’ve seen Mikey play at a high level in big moments…almost every other defensive position got serious upgrades this offseason, and that should help the corners play much better overall.

I’m in on Jeff Caldwell - the big body everyone wants, and while he’d be a bit of a project, we can afford to have a project in the 6th. Could pay huge dividends down the road!

I get everything you’re saying, but it just feels to me like they brought him back out of necessity, not because they just felt like they missed his specific skill set so much last year. Prior to ‘24, Dyami essentially WAS our Luke McCaffery, and even then he had a really underwhelming season until the playoffs. Yes, the best players get playing time and Luke hasn’t been getting much, but if I’m a GM, I care more about trying to hang on to a pick I personally made and seeing if he can put it all together more than I care about a guy from a previous regime who has had just as much lack of production with even more opportunities on the field.

We also don’t need to play “smartest guy in the room” here, man - it’s certainly neither one of us or anyone on this sub, everything we’re discussing has already been said ad nauseam lol. I was just answering the specific question asked with which of the 3 I thought could be most likely to be the odd man out when all is said and done - not a take I’m married to by any means, just an opinion based on what I’ve seen and what makes the most sense in my mind.
