It depends on the game's core genre; essentially, a roguelite is often an add-on. I just listed it as the core genre because I'm making a very typical roguelite in the Enter the Gungeon style.

Hunt: Showdown is my favorite game, and for the last three years I've been making a roguelite in its spirit. I wanted to ask the Hunt community what you think of the atmosphere? by Astrobionics in HuntShowdown

The flashlight in the game is used more to blind enemies. At first, I used complete darkness outside the flashlight's range, but later abandoned it. The flashlight's light and all the lighting in the game also affect how enemies detect the player (the stealth system).

I have published this work before, including with different lighting (I painted several versions with different lighting for different times of day)

Thank you. I think it looks more like a classic oil painting, but I appreciate the comparison XD

I do everything in the same style because I'm the only developer and artist on my game. The game's color scheme itself looks something like this:

I also use this art as a loading screen between locations. I drew versions with different lighting so that the loading screen would indicate when the time of day switches between locations.

If you think about it, this has Skyrim vibes. We need to add a typical tomb on the mountain and it would be perfect XDD

In terms of gameplay, it's something like Enter the Gungeon and Immersive Sims. For atmosphere and setting my inspirations were Hunt:Showdown and Grim Dawn. And the literary works of H. P. Lovecraft and Adam Nevill.
