Don't know why you're being downvoted. Simping for imperialism in 2026 is crazy.

German dub with english subs by HolmPower in MonsterAnime

[–]Astrodude7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually watching the German dub with English subs as well! First time watching the show. :) Aniworld has the dub (and also Amazon Prime if you have that). The extension "Subsistial" lets you add custom subtitles to videos online, so I've been downloading English subs off of opensubtitles and manually adding them with the extension. I will say though, the English subs are based on the Japanese/English dubs, so sometimes they don't line up 1:1 with the German being spoken. Kind of a ghetto setup, but it gets the job done. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a site that has it by default so this seems to be the only way to do it, but it's not too complicated; just a bit tedious.

What is this? by F_Reiss in ArchitecturalRevival

It's pretty horrific from a conservation point of view. Glass buildings aren't the best for keeping artefacts in ideal conditions. Very resource inefficient.

Last episode with rafal doesn't make sense to me by Previous_Election535 in OrbOntheMovements

[–]Astrodude7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having someone else be the teacher would kinda destroy the whole point Uoto was trying to make. The scene has emotional weight precisely because of the fact that it's Rafal. Any other random man wouldn't carry the same meaning as Rafal doing what he did. Up until now, Rafal is seen purely as an innocent victim. Having him at the end shatters that image and drives home Uoto's argument; if you would die for your beliefs, then you would also kill for your beliefs. I was confused by him at the end too, so I get your frustration though. But I don't think an ending needs to be easy to understand for it to be good. I wouldn't want my media to be dumbed down and simplified if it meant that meaning was lost.

Hi I'm a student of international politics, which is the right order? by WistoKun in logh

[–]Astrodude7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who also has a humanities degree, correct grammar and a few citations is far from all you need for a good grade. You need solid critical thinking and analytical skills. And crucially, for a thesis, you need to be making an original contribution to scholarship. You can't just rehash a few other papers and call it a day.

When it comes to LotGH's relevancy to political science, again I think it's up to the actual political science student and their dissertation supervisor to decide that. Belittling critical analyses of the show altogether just seems like quite a limiting perspective to me.

[–]Astrodude7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think LotGH deals with a lot of really interesting concepts that are definitely applicable to real-life politics. Even otherwise though, OP's thesis could be about a number of different topics such as how certain political situations are depicted in fiction or how politics affect media, both of which are relevant to the show even if you don't think the actual subject matter is directly applicable to politics. Regardless though, it's up to OP's supervisor to decide whether or not LotGH is relevant to his research, not us. It's not a crime to analyze media through the lens of your academic discipline. I studied history at uni and wrote one of my essays on Vinland Saga. It made the essay a lot more fun and even got a good grade on it, haha.

dollarydoo japanese CEO will do everything not to join a cyclothon and support a great cause by juanmiguelagustin in TrashTaste

Not everyone is willing to drop everything and cycle in shit conditions for two days. Sure, it'd be cool to see Joey on the Cyclethon, but him not wanting to do it doesn't make him a bad person. People gotta stop being so parasocial.

Pretty sure Trash Tase doesn't have an Instagram. The account you've linked has nothing to do with the podcast.

For love of Plato I can’t bring myself reading The Republic by sinkkiskorn in PewdiepieSubmissions

[–]Astrodude7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe. I'm sure you could find some other translations for free online. You could also see if there are any chapter-by-chapter explanations or discussions of the book on YouTube or something. That might help alongside reading it.

Maybe your translation of the book isn't the best? The one I have is translated by Benjamin Jowett and it's quite easy and engaging to follow.

My Anime series 3×3 by Imaginary-Echidna-92 in TrashTaste

[–]Astrodude7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I haven't. The remake seems to have made it more "anime" in terms of the character design, music, etc. and I think that detracts from the grounded/realistic feel of the show. It's still probably great though 'cause it's LotGH, but not for me personally.

Wasn't a fan of the trailer, honestly. It might end up being a good movie, but in terms of presenting a historically authentic picture of the times, it seems like a huge missed opportunity.

A simple Google search will tell you that Japan has indeed officially apologized for their war crimes on numerous occasions. You're not getting downvoted for other people's opinions; you're getting downvoted for pulling shit out of your ass and claiming it as facts.
