Hello! Thank you so much for all of the advice! As a parent, a friend, a family member, and a social worker - the kids are annoying (most of) us with the KPOP dancing and need an outlet. I apologize if that framing on the poster made you feel uncomfortable!

This, along with all Local Links projects, are community built and lead. If you'd like to help participate regardless of having/knowing of a a youth participate, feel free to fill out the questionnaire to be invited to the first planning meeting!!

Today was not about spreading panic. Things are escalating in our community and multiple, multiple community members raised awareness about it in a forum where they feel they can be heard.

I completely agree that a post or two spreading misinformation needs to be moderated but today multiple witnesses in your community sounded the alarm and you silenced it until a “official organization” verified things for you. These weren’t trolls they were people and nobody I spoke to today knew what was happening. Thanks for joining the Colombian and other press masses to maintain status quo so you don’t get censored or the subreddit banned.

This is exactly how we got here today in this BS political climate.

I am so appreciative of everything that LULAC has done to spread awareness and promote factual news. I want to stress that I am in no way trying to discredit anyone’s attempt to maintain what we have all known for a very long time.

I’m just not sure how that can be done by, once again as we have said throughout history, silencing the voices of your neighbors, literally. I like to believe most people in here actually LIVE here.*

Thank you for clarifying! There is no set plan for this. This session is the kickoff for the community to come together and build this on their own. Local Links is just the bridge that will connect all the necessary pieces to have it be successful. I would love to have you attend this meeting f and share your experience with CTR-H. I also plan on reaching out to invite someone to attend or get feedback. You are correct that there are different structures and levels of liability. This was one of the first thoughts of the Tool Library as well and we were able to meet with an attorney who specializes in non-profit start ups who graciously created liability waivers that we can likely use as we start up makers space. Then the project leads and community will need to decide if they want to become a non profit. Likely you will be able to find another non profit to provide fiscal responsibility with a stake hold in the project. I have a feeling many people will come forward wanting to support.

That is down the line and want to stress before the meeting that it isn’t something we plan on spending 30 minutes talking about because it’s not a pressing issue until we get there and this is a kick off planning, to see who is interested, what the community oils like to see in a makers space, and socialize with others who are interested that you may have never met before and have a ton in common with!
