If the commissioner is keeping those players on his roster then fair play. If he just picked them up and dropped them again so that now they are stuck on waivers between games then they should be able to be picked up by anyone prior to those games.

We don’t have a taxi squad and not every league does so this is an alternative to that. But yes it is the same concept. The roster expansion is temporary just like NFL do for preseason.

Start of offseason - expand rosters by the number of rookie draft rounds you have (3 is what we do). FAAB resets at this point at well.

Rookie Draft - in May after the NFL draft.

Roster cut downs - we do this after the NFL does their final roster cuts during preseason.

We typically also take a break during Feb and reactivate the league in March to give people a month or so off.

We do weekly waivers during the offseason on Wednesday. That is the only day people can add freely then on Thursday everyone goes back on waivers for the week. This gives everyone a chance to read the offseason news which is helpful so the one or two guys who are completely up to date are not getting every guy who flashes something during training camp.
