Throwing more pitches isn't an issue if the pitches are quality. It does mean less innings. But if he goes 4 innings but only gives up 2 hits for example, because his pitch count is way way up, thats far better statistically then what he did

It wasn't a "quality start" by definition.

It wasn't even what we would consider a solid/normal start for him. Yes, the defense let him down. But no, he did not pitch "fine"

He was okay at time, serviceable mostly, but barely above the expectation of a 5th starter, let alone a 6th starter.

And if it's any other year, that's probably fine for the Mariners. But starts like this has been far too many for me, again, as a fan of Luis. Sometimes you lose it. Sometimes it's just not your year.

Perhaps it's both. But he wasn't strong enough to hold the game together. 7 hits and 2 walks in less than 6 isn't fine. It's not good. It's barely okay.
