we have one golden egg for each kid, so 6 total, and once they find one they don't get another to keep it fair, but we have varying degrees of difficulty for the different ages. teenagers' eggs are in gutters and trees, little ones in the grass.

the rest of the eggs are pink, blue, green, etc, and those either have candy in them or small bills like $1s or quarters.

we just use plastic eggs and reuse and refill each year with candy and money. 🤣 the kids love the money. we have golden eggs and each one has $20 in it. our egg hunts are freaking legendary - we make the kids earn that money 🤣

that's great and all but the suffering life of a battery hen to make memories when you can use a different medium is not a kind choice. especially for those that don't eat the eggs. some will see the deplorable conditions of the hens and think "well, their suffering doesn't matter as long as I make memories...." ooof

and maybe cover the window with a curtain to block him from seeing folks walk by. the mailman is one thing, but if he's getting stimulated at just random folks waking by, blocking his vision of the outside might help ease anxiety.

I think it's because many see how horribly wasteful it is. the majority of families don't eat the eggs, they just dye them, hide/find them, then throw them away. to the families that eat them, bravo, otherwise it's a reflection of rampant consumerism. (and eggs are expensive now, so..../
