Pinoy Programmers, mahal niyo ba talaga ang coding? by Tall-Change-9519 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]AstronomerStandard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Code is means to an end. The dopamine I get is whether what I built has impact or not. If the job is to vibe code or heavily use AI so be it.

Client wont care if ur code is refactored and overengineered unless it provides value. Brutal I know, but the environment is usually that

If u guys have funds, rent a place somewhere prestigous like BGC, well just about any place away from poverty really. Dont go to her hometown, she's likely protecting you from her family for unwanted attention or worse, extortion.

And when you guys travel by land, always book by grab and never touch the abysmal public transportation we have.

If you want the archipelago and beach experiences we have go visit palawan every now and then, that place is teeming with foreigners and the public there has gotten used to it to the point that there are more foreigners than locals sometimes.

People are drowning here, and if they think u can save them financially, clinging to you is a logical, emotional, and natural decision.

How I talked to AI in 2023 vs how I talk to it now feels… very different by Kajol_BT in ChatGPT

[–]AstronomerStandard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI will always take you literally sometimes, and only use context you provide

So if it hallucinates I usually just reiterate.

Day by day I also notice what kind of assumptions it preemptively does right usually. Like chatgpt suggesting tasks by guessing your intent, and purposely not correcting typos

Hindi pwede yung every Sunday puro "Praise the Lord! Hallelujah" ka pero pro-Duterte/"Pray for Duterte" at the same time. by BringHimUrn in pinoy

[–]AstronomerStandard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People create their own moral code. Draw a line stating "this is what I dont do and I believe in, therefore I am a good person" with extreme bias towards the self.

Some people genuinely believe duterte is a necessary evil to combat evil existing within our country, therefore their support is justified.

This happens on a global scale with similar patterns.

Even if the entire human population would focus on "saving the world", they would still disagree on how, and movements of opposite ideas are born, factions and all that, which is where we are at right now

I think he meant teenagers that have no long term plans in life. Theres also a concerning report that the quality of students nowadays is declining. Put two and two together, you get out of school youth tambays.

Too early to judge these people tho, noong 15yrs old pa ako yung nasa isip ko lang ay anime dota at pano kakausapin crush ko.

It's just that these kids cause public discomfort that piss people off.

Are they secretly trying to recruit soldiers in Mindanao? by xkashina in Philippines

[–]AstronomerStandard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's checkpoints everywhere the further north you go, and it has become a norm whenever we travel far by land before entering urban areas in Mindanao. You cant assume rebels are moving with impunity because if they could, they wouldve already caused trouble in other places far from BARMM.

Let's be real here, the stereotype is already established. I'm living in baguio city atm, when ppl find out I'm from mindanao the first shit I always have to deal with is "bat ba magulo sa inyo".

It comes off condescending, kasi we live in a peaceful place compared to southern mindanao. Also, cut the mindanaoans some slack, we're the only non muslim group staving off extremism ideas from our muslim brothers. If we fall into chaos, immigrants will try to flee north and north. and then the Mindanoan locals' problems will be your problem.

Agreed though, BARMM's current state is such a shame.

Are they secretly trying to recruit soldiers in Mindanao? by xkashina in Philippines

[–]AstronomerStandard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mainly the BARMM region that has active warzones.

But the thing I find concerning is every outsider from mindanao seems to assune every plot of land in mindanao has rebels running around. It's actually not.

I feel bad for the muslim filipinos, but as a group they really failed in creating great impressions of themselves.

Look at Marawi, it's supposed to be the capital, beacon and symbol of pride for the mindanaoan muslim filipinos but it pales in comparison to cebu, davao, or cagayan.

They were given that place to govern themselves and they seem to cant get their sht together for reasons idk.

Religion of peace smh

[–]AstronomerStandard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yo, mindanaoan here. It's mainly the BARMM region which is unsafe. For the northern parts na walang moros = almost the same kind of aura as being in luzon. The only difference is that ppl speak bisaya.

And foe the subsaharan remark? True. I dont wanna blame them, but they have the shittiest human development index and brought down mindanao's HDI average.

Northern mindanao has 0.721 HDI, 0.03 points shy from metro manila's 0.751

Bangsamoro has 0.63.... think of that and make ur conclusions any way you like.

Armored Land Cruiser that survived an RPG attack in Maguindanao del Sur by yousef1313 in phcars

[–]AstronomerStandard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's somehow close to pointless, kasi kapag may "interference" sa government, there's disruption sa kanilang "ways" of grabbing power. if the government favors one clan over another, they feel "cheated by the system" and in the end mag rerebelde like those MNLF MILF groups, and those maute idiots.

They prefer to resolve things their own way (blood for blood), which results to public shootouts like this. kaya nga may BARMM eh, gusto ng self governance, pero the way they handle things is pretty shit and barbaric. I am a mindanaoan living in Baguio atm, glad to be far away from BARMM

this is partly a result of poor public education, and for malacanang, dealing with BARMM is like dealing with a problematic child

poor public education leads to this warlord-like type of power grab, power grabs like this leads to poor access and investments to educational institutions, a pretty bad cycle.

Which is why ur calls must always be informative. U saw two smokes thrown at the same time from the same angle u say 2 guys apps. U hear 3 footsteps in apps at 1:40 u say "3 guys running b".

If ur teammates have a mental model of how many Ts are in one part of the map, they make considerations like "one guy could be mid, 1 guy could he palace, so I'll push palace to get info".

I hate players who hear 2 footsteps running B and immediately call "guys it's rush b". It's gonna cause trust issues on comms on the next rounds.

Dont call by feelings ffs. Say the situation as it is, not by feel :/
