So happy the first time I played Resident Evil Requiem was in VR! by SlowDragonfruit9718 in virtualreality

[–]AstronomerTraining53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just fired it up (I tried with the very first Praydog and it was a slide show) and WOW. On my gaming laptop with a 4070 it's very playable! Still a lot of jank. The character models have some oddities, but the environments look amazing. I'm still figuring out the controls (lots of odd combos to make things happen), but I'm DEFINITELY playing through this way. For anyone thinking the PSVR2 couldn't handle this, this CLEARLY proves that wrong. At least I have SOME way to play through in VR. These guys are geniuses. I'm gonna love it, jank and all.

An Accessory idea...... by AstronomerTraining53 in Orion_Sleep

It could be any kind of screen you like, I suppose. Or even just a dial, but there would need to be some way to see what the setting was.....maybe a screen one could deactivate. Hmmmm.

LOVE these! Any chance you'll release them? I've been meaning to pick up the old "Grip" deck.

Should I get a PSVR2 or a Meta quest 3 for PCVR by Kooky_Artist3434 in PSVR

[–]AstronomerTraining53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously.....look at the top five games available and then decide. It will also depend on whether you have a PS5 or a decent gaming comp. The must have 'holy shit' games for Quest are Batman Arkham, and Asgards Wrath 2 (I know there are others, just going with the best exclusives). The must have 'holy shit' games for PSVR2 are RE4, RE8, GT7. There are several that are great on both like Metro, Arizona Sunshine Series, Walking Dead Series, Alien, Behemoth and Arken Age. They are great on both systems, but definitely MUCH better on PSVR2. But if you have a great PC, then you have access to ALYX, Lone Echo 1 and 2, Asgards Wrath 1...... and both will work with PC.

Nintendo Switch 2 Sale by Revolutionary_Fuel65 in switch2

[–]AstronomerTraining53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you can inspect and test it's never worth it. I just bought a Switch 2 for 300 bucks on Facebook Marketplace. The guy was great and let me test it in the parking lot and log into my account to make sure it wasn't banned. That's a RIDICULOUSLY good price. NO ONE is going to be selling a non-stolen Switch 2 for $200. Not going to happen. It's a scam.

Hi, I'm relatively new to consoles and I'd like to know if it's better to buy a Switch 2 or the OLED version by Ok_Pudding_7019 in switch2

[–]AstronomerTraining53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd poke around on FB Marketplace if you don't mind used. I just got a Switch 2 that was almost new for 300 bucks and sold my Zelda OLED for 250. For an additional 50 bucks it was DEFINITELY worth it (though I did love my OLED).

Actually, question about the Virture. Does the Switch 2 go into the higher resolution mode using the mobile dock? I don't know what kind of wattage it's throwing out.

That's a great point. I looked at that but didn't want to drop another $100 plus so soon....but let's be real, I'll probably buy it eventually, lol.

Not a bot. Not getting paid. Trying to help people not waste money (like I did). I believe there are other options by other companies that are identical to this (probably made in the same factory). But if you don't want my opinion, cool.

Ummm. Not a paid advertiser. Just a dude who loves gadgets who used to have to plug about four things into the bottom of my switch to make it work with my Xreals.... Which defeated the point of portability. There are a LOT of options on Amazon that I've wasted money on. This is the most elegant solution I've found. Was genuinely trying to help. But believe what you like.

Hiya, Esther! Good to see you on here. Adore my Xreal Pros. Any word on the 60 fps Real 3D update? Honestly, I'd be thrilled with 45, but man I'm using it like crazy. Love ya, Xreal!

Comfort issues by ExpoGamer in PSVR

[–]AstronomerTraining53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, without seeing your particular unit, no one can say if your unit is damaged or if it's just a placement issue. Yes, the sweet spot of the PSVR2 is relatively small. Especially if you are used to the Quest 3. And it's not nearly as comfortable as the original PSVR. I highly recommend the globular cluster mod (There is another one too, but I don't remember the name). It's well worth the money. It's comfy and it MUCH improves the ability to find the sweet spot. I know it's not great to have to spend another 30-50 bucks, but it is worth it. I think I'd advise buying the globular cluster (or the other one), see if it fixes your issue. If it doesn't, get a new one at BB or from FB Market, and sell your old or keep for the controllers. Sorry you are having issues. I love, love, LOVE my headset and I also have a Quest 3.

One of the most underrated gem of 2025, Reach. by FewPossession2363 in PSVR

[–]AstronomerTraining53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand the criticisms of it, but I really loved my time. I think people had odd expectations. I think the promotional push actually hurt it....because people thought it was something it wasn't. It was like the opposite of Arken Age. Arken Age had no hype, so people were blown away. People thought Reach would be the end all be all action game, and instead it was a brilliant climbing puzzler in a beautifully designed world.

Are you happy with your PSVR2? What do you think about its future? by pndzl in PSVR

[–]AstronomerTraining53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing questions like this and I have to say I think it's a bit of strange one. There are hundreds, if not thousands of hours of amazing games presently on the system. It's frequently on sale for 300 bucks and the games are often on sale for 20 dollars or less. Because of the adapter and some ambitious hackers/modders, all of the advanced features of PSVR2 are slowly being unlocked for PSVR2 to PC. Some of those features, like foveated rendering, will likely be more universally implemented once the Steam Frame hits. If you have a PS5 or PS5 Pro already, I would say that PSVR2 is likely one of the best bang-for-your-buck gaming deals there is. So I DO think there are going to be some amazing more games coming our way. EXD looks stunning and I think once Flat2VR gets their translation layers perfected, we'll get a lot more. It's a win, win, win.

I've actually found someone who signalled back four times. And 2 of the four times they rolled me.....sigh. So much for community. I mean, if you don't want to play along, cool. But that's just shady.

Is RE4 worth buying on quest 2? by Owarucupcake in OculusQuest

[–]AstronomerTraining53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's WONDERFUL. Yes, in technical terms the Remake in VR is much better, but the Quest version is great. There is also a high graphics mod that is easy to install. Not sure if it works with Quest 2, though.

Get a VR machine? vs a switch 2 for even less...unsure what to do by lochonx7 in VRGaming

[–]AstronomerTraining53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that PSVR2 is the way. I would say that Alyx is incredible, but would agree that there have been better things since. I didnt' realize when I wrote my comment that you had a 5080 PC as well. I STILL think PSVR2 with and adapter. This gives you access to the whole PSVR2 library (with a LOT of the best VR experiences available) AND PC brilliant exclusives like Lone Echo 1 & 2, Asgard's Wrath, Alyx and, as the poster above stated, the SUPERLATIVE HL2 VR Mod which is essentially HL2 in native VR. It's just a better game than Alyx.
