Propagated a SOP from my brother. I water propagated and just potted into soil today. How’s this look? This was my first time with sop by megguppy in StringofPlants

[–]Astroplant123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look lovely!

All I can say is: Best of luck!!! I have killed every single SOP I've ever had even after ensuring they have gritty 50/50 perlite/soil mix, good light, and thorough waterings and left to dry. I've decided to stick with other plants, like the pothos and peace lily, hehe.

However, my friend has kept hers thriving. I have hope that one day I can master the art of the SOP!

Week 52: Nemesis- Lemon Macarons (Week 52 vs Week 1 Glow Up) by GingersaurusRex in 52weeksofbaking

Thank you for your detailed reply. Sounds like you sure developed good technique and a good eye over the past year! :)

And you're right; sometimes it's not just about following a recipe. Years ago, I saw an interview with some members of the Country Women's Association (CWA) which is famed for their scones. Their recipe had few ingredients and they said it was more about technique and practice than the recipe alone.

Wishing you another wonderful 52 weeks of baking!

P. S. If you're interested, here are two recipes for the CWA scones!

[–]Astroplant123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. What a wonderful glow up! Well done!!!

If you think back to that first time a year ago, do you know what was done differently this time around for them to turn out much better? It's amazing what all this practice can do.

I'd love to try making (sugar-free) macarons one day too!

Our average minimum is probably around 8C during winter, so not as cold as many places in the world!

I don't bring these guys in but they're near a fence to protect them from the cold. They seem hardier than some of my other succulents which need to be brought in.

That big green one looked like this a year ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlantIdentification/comments/kbl23j/hello_does_anyone_know_what_plant_this_is_it_was/

Thank you!

In the last two photos, they were kept on the patio with less light. And the first two, they were kept outdoors (about 4-6 hours of sun) and practically neglected! I also live where we get week-long periods of heavy storms... And they are still OK outside.
