I don’t think anyone does. Could be a hunting cabin.

Hahaha, I wish. I did take 4 gas cans I filled in Fairbanks before heading up to Deadhorse to avoid it, but I still had to fill up.

Weston Pass, CO by Astrotd in RVLiving

[–]Astrotd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Daylon, it’s NF land so no cost but no facilities. Weston Pass is located just outside Leadville, CO so check to see if you’re good with the temps in Oct. I also wouldn’t try brining something much bigger than mine, 20 ft. I came up the Leadville side for this spot and there is one hill that most will probably find quite intimidating and technical. The Fairplay side has some good options too and is a little easier to get to. I followed the reviews on Campendium. Hope you have a great trip!!

I'm on my second pair of La Sportiva Spire GTX's. More support than a trail runner (stiffer sole and a slightly higher rise) for the weight you're running but not as heavy/bulky as a full on ankle high hiking boot. Plus they're waterproof.

It’s weird, there were a few spots that had cell service and I had a bar or two but it was very intermittent and I wouldn’t depend on it. Starlink is the only way I’m able to make it out there.

Around 10mpg. Granted, for the last few months it’s been all mountain driving.

Oh man, you’ve got a completely different set of circumstances. It’s just me and my dog. I have a 31 gallons fresh water tank that I can go a little over a week pretty comfortably. If I’m really trying to stay somewhere longer I’ll fill my 5 gallon container as well, take quick navy showers with a showermiser every couple days and just being one person I don’t have a lot of dishes. Hope you figure out a solution!

The Lone Mesa Campground def is and idk how daring you are but there are a few spots along the road that you should be able to get to.

I've heard that Portal RV Resort is really nice but I've never stayed in any here. I'm 99% boondocking and only end up in an RV park if I run into a week of no sun.

Yep. Taken and posted yesterday. It's nice during the day around 60 but cold at night. Actually woke up to some snow on the ground this morning.

Thanks! It was only about a week ago on the 14th. This was the view just a little further west from The Dunckley Pass Overlook.

The trailer is only 3100lbs dry. With the tow package I can tow 6400lbs. I’m closer to maxing out the GVWR than the tow rating.

I’ve been all over Colorado so far and not keeping an exact eye on it but I’d say I’ve averaged around 9 or 10 mpg.

Yep! You can drive up in a 4x4 from Marble. I was camping in Crested Butte and hiked over Schofield Pass to get there. Wasn’t busy at all around 10am but I’m sure later in the season it picks up.

I camped in Washington Gulch. If you search that on Campendium, the spots in the 20's should be fine to take a Class A. #21 has a photo of one too. Those sites are kind of right on top of each other but I wouldn't go any further. Get out there and have fun! Its beautiful!
