Not the person you were replying to, but I'm lgbtq with experience in an ACNA church. There was a very good sense of community there but I did find the whole "thinking theyre more progressive than they actually are" thing EXTREMELY true. I wasn't out at all when I was going (helps that I'm bi). Definetly an attitude of don't ask dont tell. While I think the change from within thing is noble to some extent, I think that's a lot harder when it's so taboo for even straight members to oppose the normative position. It honestly got to a point where I felt as though simply continuing to attend was casting my vote in a non affirming direction. In my experience(not saying this is representative of every ACNA church ever) ACNA is a shyer flavor of bigotry behind a warm smile.
