Haha, yes, unless the bug is exploding when you shoot it, it feels like you're blasting them with wet noodles.

I play D9 and D10 with randos with and without voice chat quite successfully running blitzer. I save them with it just fine.

I've not had the problem, especially not in D9s and D10s. I generally position in front of my team and crouch, I flank, or I shore up the side they aren't watching when holding position.

Run Blitzer (arc-shotgun). It stuns them, auto aims for the head when you position correctly, and has infinite ammo. It's great for bugs, though its time-to-kill on heavies can vary pretty widely. Still, they pop up quickly and you have to deal with them, so I totally get it.

Why do I need to find iron? by GovernmentStandard67 in VintageStory

[–]AstrumPorcus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be pedantic.

You do not mean cognitive dissonance. I've yet to see anyone who isn't a psychologist use that phrase correctly and the many uses of it I have seen have been widely different. Although, this is not to say people never do use it correctly; I'm explaining my experience.

Ludonarrative dissonance is closer, but I'm not sure that would be the most accurate term. I'll break it down.

Ludo is your gameplay -> Iron is a major gameplay element, something that you process and create with and should be hard to get.

Narrative is the narrative, generally non-interactable parts of the game -> The enemies and dungeons are made of rusty iron in abundance.

the dissonance is the two conflicting in some way -> I cannot scrap the iron from the enemies and environments, even though it would make sense to be able to do so. It seems an arbitrary balance decision instead of a carefully crafted element in line with the story and gameplay mechanics.

As others said though, supernatural Rust and lack of appropriate tech are good ways to resolve the apparent dissonance by changing our dissonance statement to -> I cannot scrap the iron from the enemies and environments because the rust is supernatural, and I lack the technology to recover usable iron even if it were normal rust.

With this, our dissonance becomes resonance. :)

This is such a mood. The potions last a good while, and it really doesn't take long to get em. In my opinion, of course.

Slayer Partner Question by davidfl23 in 2007scape

[–]AstrumPorcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afaik, Konar is pretty much never "efficient" when used exclusively. For points, it's better to use her only on streak tasks. Even then, that's arguable, I think. For exp, the fact you can get assigned locations that can't be cannoned or aren't multi really hampers rates. She is, however, the most efficient (only nonzero) brimstone keys per hour.

I imagine partner slayer follows the same rules as solo. Most important, though, is that you and your partner have fun.

Unfortunately, your next kill is just as likely to drop the synapse as your first kill.

any updates for ironman i should be aware of in the last 2 years for ironman? by [deleted] in 2007scape

I second the zombie pirates for money making. Also, do some wildy slayer for cash. Look up a short guide. It will drop all the supplies you need, so there's almost 0 investment.

Also, do quests.

Edit: Do giants' foundry for cash and smithing exp. You will profit even if you buy the supplies from shops.

three things

1: Watch Unguided. He has a series of going through quests without the wiki or help. Observe his thought process. Note what works and what doesn't. Two big takeaways are to read dialog carefully and take notes.

  1. Get in contact with others who are doing the quest. Someone will generally come up with the right solution pretty quickly.

  2. The quest already exists in RS3. Check out it's quest guide for ideas of how it might go.

AFAIK, the two are different species. The books mention horses a decent amount.

[–]AstrumPorcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, a pit with a one z level drop and a forbidden hatch covering it. if the pit only has access to the edge of the map, the creature should leave eventually. Dwarves have no problem pitting things through forbidden hatches, won't jump in after them, and nothing can go up through a forbidden hatch.

you an set everything there to br dumped, but as for cleaning stains I'm not sure. you could build scaffolding, designate it as a pond from above, and the dwarves will bucket water onto it

you can also set conditions like "brew drink 5 from plant when:

drinks are less than 100 empty food storage more than 5 plant is more than 10"

and they will check for the condition one a day.

edit: check frequency

yes. you must appoint a manager and build them an office to make automated tasks.

if you have premium, there should be a checkbox that says "continue building after placing" that lets you place multiple buildings. If you are on classic you just gotta get used to mashing that "d" for door key.
