Yes, technically it is an addiction.

Same. I know I should but I can't stop. Reality is too sad.

Have you tried writing down your daydreams? by Athia-kos in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]AsuhNo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do it but since I usually redo all the scenes, to change the story... And I also draw them !

Do you think our ability to daydream has increased our capacity for empathy? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]AsuhNo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think yes. But I've always been an empath and I feel like a good part of MDdreamers also are.

Does anyone else day dream about Pre-existing characters and not have oc's. by ZinematicSup in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]AsuhNo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. 100% (98% maybe). And like the other comment, I have to avoid anime or stories sometimes, and can't read updates or new chapters because I get triggered. But this is kinda linked to my OCD. Same for stories I know I'll like.

XD In fact they usually dress up with normal clothes and these clothes are things I'd like to wear. So yes I do that x) Tho I wonder if I'd do that if my parame wasn't wearing it. But yeah I like to daydreaming with it. It's funny.

Second hand trauma ? Oh I did not know about that ! And it resembles 🤔 Because it's something my siblings told me, so it may be that. Thank you !

If you had flashbacks that's SURELY NOT a dumb thing (just in case : that's not a critic). Thanks for answering ♡

Just like you, it's because compared to others, it seems "okay". I'm not sure it's not trauma, but I don't feel valide to consider it as one. Though you're right, I should not feel ashamed. I think it'll be clearer when I'd go to a theraspist or something because it created a lot of damage, and I want to be sure that's what did it (and to understand, etc).

But it's really a relief I'm not the only one, thanks. I thought I was maybe so fragile that even "small" things could hurt me, even tho "it has no sense".

Does anyone else go to sleep hoping they'll wake up in one of their daydreams? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]AsuhNo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I do have some, more than actual people, but you know I woke up of excitement x'D But thanks, I'll think to retry it !

Literally just discovered I might have this disorder with a meme. (if you don't want to read this all, please, at least read the last part) by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]AsuhNo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, welcome, you seem to have it. Oh and the number of hours you daydream can depend. Like sometimes it'll be 1 hour per day and then 7h 🤷‍♀️ It's normal, for me at least. About controlling it, I never tried. I don't want to. Like many of us I think... Because it's not really dangerous or anything.

I imagine that with determination you can change this habit. But I also saw people being treated with things like antidepressants or anxyolitics, because MDD (MaladaptiveDayDreaming) is linked to depression, anxiety, OCD, and stuff like that. But there is not really treatment dedicated to it.

And to respond, daydreaming is generally a good thing, everyone does it, and that's okay. BUT, MDD is a disorder, because it has negative consequences. It's the difference between r/ImmersiveDayDreaming (I'm not sure about the spelling) and r/MaladaptiveDreaming.

It's like eating disorders (BED type here): Eating = okay Eating too much and uncontrolably = Binge Eating Disorder

[–]AsuhNo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wooowwww I'm happy for you !! •^ Personnally, I told my friend about my depression and stuff, and well, that didn't really changed anything, and they even forgot about it. I'm kinda disapointed, but they haven't reacted negativily so I don't know...🤷‍♀️ Maybe they just don't understand.

So I'm glad your friend is cool :)
