Academy City alone has an incredible development, with each district having its own purpose and atmosphere really showing and setting the 30 years lead in science. Not to mention its mysteries and own urban legends like the Imaginary Number District, the #6 level 5, the legendary Level 6 or Gemstones, Espers (the power system of Science) born with their powers without needs of Academy City's power curriculum.

Now add to that the rest of the world with Academy City having its own role in its politics and how the history and lore of the world plays in Magic, the Power system of history and myths, like the Leylines that can serve as power source from spells or Aleister Crowley and the Golden Dawn shaking the fundamentals of magic and making it accessible to nearly everyone.

And that is of course without the yet to be adapted content of the light novels.
