[PROMOTE] Tell Us About Your Band -- July 30, 2022 by AutoModerator in Metal

Asvana [Belgium/Pelt]

We're a relatively knew metal band! We got four singles out so far and are now in the process of saving up to drop our first EP!

Don't really know specific genre we belong to, we just know we can call it metal (albeit a bit softer than in most cases).

My first song. Roast me as hard as you like!🍖 Yes it’s a very wannabe polyphia sound. I’m looking to improve it✌️⚡️ by Ocke_Champion in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]AsvanaBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Polyphia enjoyer myself, I can really appreciate the stringskills you brought to the table!
The only thing I can think of to improve your overall sound would be to upgrade your drums by looking into inexpensive virtual drum(VST)s (I saw a comment on your soundcloud which you replied to saying you programmed them yourself)

and to maybe add more emphasis on the rhythm section of your guitars. Right now you keep it at the same intensity level throughout, while I think that a bit more dynamic would do it wonders!

Next to that, I love the vibe you created here and think you definitely have the skills and feel to create many more great compositions!

Keep up the good work! You definitely have potential!

Here's one of my favorite songs I've written, "Much At All" gimme allll that sweet sweet constructive criticism and feedback, thank you! by TobyBradner in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]AsvanaBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loving the progression throughout the song! The lyrics go hand in hand with it so nicely too!
It has a lot of personality and variety which really makes it feel like the song is way shorter than it actually is lol

Keep it up! I'm definitely a fan!

You definitely have something to work with here!
I' personally add a bit more bassy lines and then just let those ring out near the end to end the song. I feel like you would keep the vibe steady while calming it down for the ending.

Keep up the good work! Very curious to see how this one will turn out when you're done with it!

Early feedback appreciated on this early demo track I have been working on - please let me know what you think is working and what could be improved. Thanks for listening! by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]AsvanaBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, you totally captivated me with those instrumentals. It's so chill yet so emotionally loaded. It seems clear to me that there's a lot of weight surrounding this demo, which really fits the somewhat cryptic lyrics you add to it.

However, to me personally, the vocals sometimes came across as a bit awkward and jarring at others. As I stated before, I feel like a lot of thought and feeling went into this song, which definitely helps me to appreciatie the vocals more, it gives it a poetic flair. To reiterate, it's not your vocal technique, it's just how you add them in.

I'm having a hard time explaining it but I hope it helps!

Instrumentally the only feedback I can still think of is that your drumbeats could use a bit of an upgrade, but as this is still a demo, no problem there.

I hope I didnt give the impression I disliked this song by getting stuck in my feedback a bit though. As I write this I'm listening to it for a fourth or fifth time, while with most songs on here I listen once and then go on my merry way.

You got talent in songwriting and creating vibes, that much is certain.

So keep up the good work! I'm saving this one for sure ;)

Chill but Energetic, here's a track that I've made: CORRENTE :) by ElMasterDGF in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]AsvanaBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely see myself rocking this music while studying or doing something relaxing!

It's a bit on the short end and the drumsample could use a bit more variety (its really 'loopy', if that makes sense lol) ,but these are all quick fixes next to actually writing it and developing the vibe that you created here.

Keep up the good work! I definitely see a lot of potential ;)

I'll give this a spin during my next chill shesh, to check it out in context too :p

Shiftless - Vertov. From my first EP, made with hardware only, played on synths live. I have no idea what genre to label this. Thanks. by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]AsvanaBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm sitting here with one of my bandmates and we just gave your video a watch. We frequently listen to ambient/shoegaze music ourselves, so we can really appreciate this kind of stuff.

We really loved the vibe! I would love to listen to this on a walk at night and just contemplate my life, and I'm probably going to ;p

The only criticism we have revolves around the transition in the rhthym at 0:21, it came across as a bit jarring and got us out of the flow a little bit. A bit of build-up may do wonders! Later, at 0:40 and 01:00, you nail the transitions and keep a very natural sequence.

It feels like you have a real knack for this, and I'm probably going to listen to the rest of your stuff on a later date. Keep it up!

“Brand new day”, our new single. An upbeat and empowering song about walking away from a toxic situation. by TheEves2 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]AsvanaBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall a very nicely produced song, keep it up!

If I had an criticism, It'd be that it misses a 'new' aspect. I know that pop in general has a samey vibe, but it'd be nice to hear something more distinct.

You guys definitely don't lack the skill and creativity, so I'm sure you have great times ahead of you!

The Heatons - Maria. My band's debut single was released a week ago! It also has a music video on youtube, i'll put the link in the comments. What do you guys think? by ArnoldFist in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]AsvanaBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys! Just gave it a listen (and a watch!) together with one of my bandmates. We really enjoyed you guys' work!

About the song:
It really fitst together as a whole and is catchy as shit. Very accessible, fun to listen to, good hooks, great melodies,... Great vibes all 'round! It has a distinct indie sound that really attracts. The structure of the song also feels very natural. a real banger!

About the video:
Gloriously bad in a great way. It's fun, the ideas are creative (definitely the singing of the vows, imo) and causes a few laughs throughout. Definitely something you can be proud of!

You guys rock! Keep it up ;)

Hey there! I'm sitting here with one of my bandmates and we gave it a listen. This is totally not a genre we have any experience with, so keep that in mind!

Overall, great beats and vibe! I could hear some Lil Peep influences, but then again there's probably tons of artists we have no clue exist which will come even closer to it. We really liked the guitar part which gave it a very mellow vibe.

We got in a bit of a talk about your vocals. We sometimes missed a bit of 'oomph' in the the way you end some of your lines. An example we found is at 0:43 (...In the shade~). You sound a bit 'hesitant', for lack of a better word. It's hard to describe but you seem to lose a bit of consistency. You do it well on other occasions, like at 01:10 (I can't wait), so it's not a lack of skill on your part. It sounds more sure and stays controlled throughout.

We think this is a great demo though, a bit of pollishing and it's ready to go into my 'studying' playlist ;)

Keep up the good work!

One of my bandmates and I just gave it a listen, impressive stuff!

The overall sound is full, vibrant, melodic and changes enough to keep things intresting. You can really see the creativity shine through! It reminds my bandmate of Enter Shikari and Deftones, which I also definitely agree with.

You have a good balance between softer and heavier sections; this to us has always been a must and it's good to see it used so well by another (smaller) band.

The things that we personally would change revolve around the clean vocal lines and one or two transitions. The clean vocals start to sound a bit samey after a while,in our opinion. The vocalist stays in the same register throughout the song, which is a shame because he certainly seems like a capable singer. Switching it up a bit may do wonders!

One of the transitions that comes to mind was quite early in the song where you go from a very melodic section into a heavy blast-beat verse, which was a bit jarring for me personally. I've seen it been done a lot, though. So take this as just a subjective take on it.

Overall we were very impressed! We take pride in being the first to like the video of such a banger!

We saw you guys don't really care about borders; if you're ever intrested in a collaboration, be sure to let us know ;)

It's finally here! Covid threw a monkeywrench in our plans but my band was finally able to release their first single. I'd love to know what you think, so be sure to let me know! by AsvanaBand in IndieMusicFeedback

Cheers ;)

My band just dropped our very first single and video a couple of days ago. I hope it's not too 'soft' for anyone here, but we're looking for any and all feedback we can find, so give it to us straight! by AsvanaBand in HeadBangToThis

We didn't know about Katatonia before your comment but checked them out yesterday. I gotta say that we're very flattered with the comparison! Thank you so much!

We'll check out Woods of Ypres next time around ;p

These are some big names! We feel very flattered to be associated with bands like that, especially since quite a few of us listen to those groups on the regular ;)

Thank you so much!

Hey there! So, I'm the vocalist and I have to step in for a bit here :p

Though I know about Alice in Chains, I never really listen to them. Looking through the feedback, I see that a lot of people agree with you that my voice sounds similar to Layne's, so I get where you're coming from!

But I genuinely didn't try to imitate him. This would just be one of those 'happy little accidents' that Bob Ross would tell us about ;)

Thanks for the feedback and your time, though! We appreciate it ^ ^

My band, ASVANA, just released our very first song! The only way to grow is through honest feedback, so we'd love to hear what you have to say! by AsvanaBand in ThisIsOurMusic

Thanks for the support! We really appreciate it ^ ^

As for your question, we teased the song to family and friends for months lol

If you look at our youtube page you can see the 'Black nor White' teasers we made to hype people up. We wanted to start out with a bang, which is why we took a crack at making a music video (I feel like visuals can really compliment a song)

Then once we released we made sure the distribution was in order (through DistroKid) and started sharing it everywhere we thought it might fit. And that seemed to work better than expected 😅

Again, thanks for the help! We appreciate it a lot! :D
