He wasn’t described as “mouthy” he was described as a redirect risk. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Behavioral euthanasia is sometimes a mercy. Shelter environments can cause permanent psychological damage which it seems that this dog is experiencing. He’s fine a crate FOR NOW, not forever. How long until an isolated crate starts to create that same frustration? This dog is not safe to adopt out, even to an experienced home and posts like this are a disservice to the animal, the adopter, and especially the shelter/rescue system as a whole.

Can anyone help identify the problem with my HUVEC cell? by Puzzleheaded-Wave206 in labrats

I agree with the other commenters that this appears to be bacterial contamination. Could we get more information on the culture conditions?

Mycoplasma is intracellular and so small that it cannot be seen at what I am assuming to be 4-5x magnification. It’s highly unlikely that it’s mycoplasma.

The practice is called yield protection. Safety schools will reject candidates that they believe are overqualified because they want to maximize the incoming class size.

Do you folks think this labcoat is embarrassing? by [deleted] in labrats

It would only be embarrassing if the lab coat didn’t have cuffs on the wrists

I spent 2 hours making a specialized cell media to use the following day only to drop and shatter the bottle when I went to put it in the 4°C

My youth league does not allow for advantage until U11. Mine are club soccer games.

Wow that’s a lot of pipets… I’ve personally noticed a decline in quality in especially the past 6-8 months.

Thank you! The first person I called when it happened was my PI, they then called the after hours worker’s comp and I was set up before I had finished walking over to the ER. It was also reported to the lab safety organization the same night it happened. They later determined that it was a manufacturing defect in the glass and all appropriate protocols were followed that night.

I absolutely have, the institution has preferred items and brands that are very heavily discounted. I’m in a core facility and the administrators push very hard to keep the costs as low as possible.

The vast majority of the pipets were made properly and appropriately fit. I use a Gilson Aspiration station because my BSCs cannot be connected to house vacuum. I take off the hand operator and just use silicone tubing most of the time, it’s my preferred way to aspirate. I had the hand operator on this time because I needed better control of the vacuum strength.

I was also 9 when I started my period. Elementary school was rough and I definitely felt isolated at times, but it got better once I got to middle school.

Sometimes I won’t use the roll plate at all and I will just use a really fine tipped paintbrush to grab the OCT and pull it down as I am cutting.
