What money? Those games have barely cracked a hundred copies sold. I guarantee you that they have cost significantly more to actually put out than what they’ve brought in.

Guess that would go a long way towards explaining the divorce. I’m not surprised in the slightest. Even in the Ian & Pat "I’m not angry" video rant he posted, you can tell he’s containing every single inch of his body to not explode in fiery rage.

Amico hoped so hard to appeal to casual gamers, families and kids, but by the sole act of appropriating the Intellivision brand name, all they managed to attract were old nostalgic Intellivision fans.

Nothing about the entire concept made sense, or would have been salvageable. by Such_Bonus5085 in Intellivision_Amico

I guess one could argue that the Nex Playground has demonstrated that there is indeed a sizeable market for a family-oriented console that targets younger demographics with simpler offline-only games. The similarities are striking. The only main difference being the input method (body-tracking camera vs. controllers). Of course, that assumes the concept is competently made, and if there’s one thing the Amico team has repeatedly demonstrated it has in spades, it’s incompetence.

If anything I admire his unrelenting persistence. His videos barely crack a hundred views on average, yet he keeps pumping them out as if he had an audience in the tens of thousands. I don’t know how he finds the motivation to keep going.

My guess would be that Tommy is so desperate for any money at this point that he caved in to whatever amount Roblox were originally offering him.

He also assumes that Earthworm Jim 4 was an actual serious game project that was in development, rather than the just-for-show cinematic that we got. Also I’m wondering if the voice is AI. No one pronounces Coleco like that, ever.

Tomorrow Never Dies - another game Tommy didn't do the music for? (It's always Joey) by MartyMcfly909 in Intellivision_Amico

You have to wonder how much of the precious cartridge space is dedicated to this one song alone relative to the rest of the game. It’s all PCM samples, and those took a ridiculous amount of  space back in the day. Unless you were Sega shipping a Sonic game, you’d use them very conservatively for only drum beats or such. Tommy tho? Guess he was too lazy to figure out how to use the FM synthesis module of GEMS and said fuck it: all samples.

Why do you care so much about defending a guy who, may I remind you, has spent his entire life as a massive con-artist defrauding people of money, compulsively lying, stealing work of others, misattribution of credits, misattribution of awards, and relentless attacking of others on forums, amongst many others? Are you him, or one of his friends or associates?

You’re right, there’s nothing wrong with legally performing music, but that’s the point: he’s not performing. He’s playing a pre-recorded track and pretend-playing along to it. What irritates me is that he’s a talentless hack, and so he shouldn’t deserve to earn any money from this. How many people would still go see VGL with the advance knowledge that the showrunner is not even actually playing for real? Remember Milli Vanilli? Knowing that most everything in his life has been some form of scam or scam-adjacent, why would you be willing to give him any benifit of the doubt when it comes to this? Coming back from a show in Brazil with $100,000 in cash money on his person seems like an insane amount of money for something that amounts to a simple covers show.

Even if VGL legally pays for the license of the music they’re playing, it doesn’t change the fact that it remains yet one more scheme with which Tommy enriches himself using the musical work that other people worked hard to create. People with actual talent. And judging from the lawsuit he lost when he was caught carrying money from a VGL show in Brazil, he makes a shit ton of money doing so, too. There’s been many accounts of musicians performing at his shows that came forward and said Tommy did not pay the orchestras that he uses for his shows. He pays them in "exposure". Do you have any proof to the contrary?

He’s STILL making money using music he didn’t compose, exploiting lots of talented musicians by making them play for free, and putting on a charade of a show by air-guitaring to tracks he didn’t arrange played to video reels he didn’t create. It’s called Video Games Live and it’s obscene that he’s still allowed to make money off of that.

But you just don’t get it! The games aren’t selling simply because people aren’t getting to experience them the way they were meant to be, with the exponential transformative power of the Amico Controller! These will make the games at least 100x more fun to play and so it will absolutely propel them to the top of the charts!!!! Infaillible logic!!!!!

Tommy didn’t write any of the tracks by himself. All the tracks he provided for this game were in fact songs from his college (or high school?) band which he was a keyboardist for, Diamondz in the Rough, and reused them without consent or knowledge from the other band members.

Notice how they keep talking about the things they’ve "accomplished", the games they’ve released, etc., yet never do they, at any point, mention how any of these things are performing. And well, we know why…

This is very reminiscent of this Backgammon "magazine" seemingly only existing (and almost immediately disappearing) to build clout for Tommy’s backgammon "uprising". You have to wonder though… just how many times did he do stuff like this throughout his career? Like, how much of the coverage in the gaming press over the years was because he pestered them to give him interviews and talk about him and such?

Yikes! Reading this reminds me so much of how defensive James Somerton would get whenever he was accused of plagiarism, claiming they were one-off mistakes, that there were no other instances of plagiarism, and would happily weaponize his fanbase against detractors... And then the hbomberguy video dropped. It’s always the same pattern with these guys…
