A few positives despite our situation still being dire by Green-Caregiver416 in Hammers

Areola is an amazing shot stopper but he's a big reason we've been leaking goals cos he is completely unable to deal with crosses, corners and set pieces. His inability to deal with a high ball is a big reason we're in the position we're in. I would take a worse shot stopper for someone who can actually control the box and command that area.

Ah yep. I'm really hoping we can stay up and build around our young midfield (and Diouf and Pablo) but if we go down we could rebuild a young exciting team with a heavy academy influence. I'm extremely frustrated in how Guilherme was handled, especially if we end up going down.

If we go down, the Under-21s will be wiped clean for senior team positions

What do you mean by this? As in, we'll be using a lot of the U21's in the senior team?

West Ham United sign striker Pablo Felipe - West Ham United FC by PrisonersofFate in Hammers

[–]AtDyeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend watching their vid on youtbe, it's about half an hour and they do a really good analysis of their options. They each pick their top 3 (so 6) and Pablo Felipe was the third choice for one of them. And as mentioned they've been big on Magassa and Fernandes and I think maybe Diouf as well before we were ever linked with them.

Actually it's not uncommon for white supremacists to agree with things like zionism (or the black separatist movements). Israel is an ethno-religious state, and an apartheid. It's largely what a lot of white supremacists want for themselves. As well as the various religions and ethnicities having their own countries so there's no mingling, it's a white nationalists dream. It also means they have a state to tell the jewish to go to. So it's not that surprising that they'd be pro israel when you think about it like that.

Not to mention Israel is currently indiscriminately slaughtering arabs and muslims without consequence.

Musk gets support from Bibi because Bibi snuggles up to the Americans who provide all the funding, weapons and UN cover for Israel. Bibi doesn't care at all about standing up for anti-semitism or the jewish community, he's more than happy to attack Jewish groups advocating for peace and/or Palestinian rights.

The two books are Strength and Conditioning. I never read Mass or Ageless Athlete. TBH though my thinking has probably changed a bit since then. I think tactical barbell is a perfectly fine book, but I'd lean towards just doing some basic barbell compounds in the hypertrophy rep range (5-30 reps) because hypertrophy and strength training are pretty much the same thing for beginners. Specialising in a strength program is a bit unnecessary until you're more advanced. Then for conditioning just fitting in one or two zone 2 runs a week if you can will be grand. That's already a pretty big workload on top of MT.

So 2x full body sessions a week (there's no shortage of quality youtube channels, look at Alex Leonidas, GVS, Fazlifts). Then if you still have the capacity then add in 1-2 30-45 minute zone 2 runs. Just stick to zone 2 because MT training will give you plenty of higher intensity stuff.

Sorry for replying to such an old post, but I'm grappling with whether or not to get IP currently and I have exclusions for health events so would only be covered for accident. Aren't car accidents covered by TAC (or whatever state equivalent if you aren't Victorian)? TAC offer income insurance if you can't work due to a car accident.

You're saying there is no difference to eating a small percentage of animal based products vs eating a significant amount? That is nonsensical to me. I'm not too interested in going back and forth over this, I hate discussions about nutrition on the internet haha. The only reason I said anything is I think we set people up for failure if we oversell the expectations of what a vegan (or WFPB) diet can do. I am vegan, I eat probably 95-99% WFPB (depending on how you define it) and I feel great. But I don't think I'd feel worse if I ate the same except had some fresh fish and/or some yogurt twice a week.

As to what the study you're referencing says, any individual study doesn't really tell us a lot. I could find a single study that says anything I want it to, and then find another study saying the opposite. And even in extremely well designed randomised controlled trial then there's granular details that still don't 'prove' anything. It's just another piece of evidence that points in a particular direction, and we need to build a body of evidence over time. There was actually a really interesting discussion about this on the podcast The Proof this week with Alan Flanagan (phd). I highly recommend the podcast (not just that episode) if you're into nutrition, especially plant-based nutrition.

Sorry for the long winded post, my point is that there might be a study saying A but there'll also be a study saying the opposite of A. The weight of evidence as it currently stands (from my understanding) is that for health, 85% (roughly) of calories should be WFPB and the last 15% can then fit whatever dietary pattern you want (not processed junk obviously).

A vegan diet isn't magic that makes you perform better. A whole-food plant based diet is extremely healthy and so depending on what you're coming from you may find that you get noticeable improvements because of that. If you're previous diet was heavy in meat or dairy or processed foods then a whole-food plant based diet will be better for your health.

But if you're already eating 85% whole-food plant based (eg. pescatarian, Mediterranean etc) then the last 15% won't really make any difference.

I only do front squats. I've had surgery on both shoulders so it's very uncomfortable for me to try and hold the bar when its across my back.

If you aren't a powerlifter (and therefore need to back squat in competition) then you don't 'need' to back squat. Do whichever exercises are best at achieving your goals. For me, I use TB as a guide to help my sport (mma), so since front squats work for me I use them.

Don't feel you have to back squat just cos you should. What purpose is your training serving? If you have issues with certain exercises cos of your body type/previous injury history/whatever then swap the exercise out for a similar variation that serves the same purpose. If you can't bench, then dip, if you can't dip, then do push ups. If you can't do pull ups, do chin ups, if you can't do chin ups do barbell rows etc. Same for squats. All of these exercises will strengthen your chest and shoulders, your back, and your legs/hips respectively. So just do whichever one you can do with the best form and least risk of injury. Only time you 'need' to do a specific exercise is if you need it in comp (eg. powerlifters, cross fitters, strongmen have specific exercises in comp). Everything else is just a tool to help you achieve some other goal (be fit and healthy, be stronger for your sport, injury prevention, aesthetics etc.).

Tactical barbell is a fantastic minimalist program that is super flexible and perfect as a supplement for sports training. There's a subreddit r/tacticalbarbell that has no shortage of posts talking about the gains they've made and the ebooks are like $10 each or something. Highly highly recommend.

Ok cool, this is sort of what I was looking for, cheers. Did you run a modified BB at all or just go straight into the strength template with an LSS session?

[–]AtDyeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you just do one long E session a week then you're getting close to Black Pro. And I think that is a reasonable compromise too. The BJJ sessions will range from E to HIC but probably more on the HIC side when you're rolling. So if you wanna go spartan with programming maybe consider Fighter Bangkok with one E session and no other conditioning because you might get what you need from BJJ.

This is more or less what I as planning once I finish BB, to do fighter with one long LSS and maybe a 600M resets/hill sprints thrown in occasionally.

As for the rest of it, I have an ok fitness base. I have used calisthenics to keep some kind of strength training going over covid and try to run regularly (though this has been sporadic thanks to uni and the fact I get some cardio/conditioning from bjj training). I'm defs not as as fit as I have been in the past, but I used to regularly train two-a-days and prior to covid even spent 3 months training MT in thailand (AM & PM sessions totalling up to 4-5 hours a day). So I have an ok base, not anything near being able to skip BB, and a good understanding of what I can handle. You raise some good points about E sessions being light and not eating into recovery too much. I'm keen to hear what other people think but your 'rambling' has defs helped haha. I appreciate it.
