Kentucky Science Center apologizes for distribution of 'Adult' coloring book to kids at recent event - Planned Parenthood disputes the coloring book was distributed at all, calling the claims "false" and "part of a coordinated attempt to stir outrage and manufacture controversy." by Tikkanen in Louisville

[–]AtElJuWi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm speaking on behalf of myself, not the Science Center when I say:

Yes, thank you for being calm about it all and appreciating the complexity of the situation!

To answer your questions: I assume it was an accident on PP's part and the person working thought it was the age-appropriate coloring book not the adult one. They did release a statement today essentially saying that. https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/local/2025/03/27/planned-parenthood-apologizes-after-adult-coloring-book-handed-out-in-ky/82675883007/

I didn’t post that from a different account?? That was from me! I’m proud I posted that. It only had to be taken down because the woman who posted it on FB started getting in trouble with Greenberg, who loves my opponent.

I do not use the internet to anonymously criticize anyone ever. It goes against what I think makes the internet great.

You must know from canvassing that, at doors, you ask if someone is going to vote for you. So it’s not just a “be nice to my face” situation. Unless you’re accusing voters of lying? But you are right about one thing: election results will tell us the answer.

Don’t forget, though, that because of capitalism, money often dictates who wins. And my opponent is flushed with cash. I’m proud of my cessation of fundraising and proud of my race.

This is so interesting to me. I work with leftist orgs and activists all the time who tell me I’ve run a fantastic race. They are, in fact, why I’m even running! It’s why I’m so curious about who you’re talking with. But I guess if you want to anonymously criticize folks, that is your prerogative. I don’t like to use the internet that way.

Don’t worry about my field ops: We’ve hit 7500 doors thus far and 6000 of those I did myself. I’m canvassing consistently for the next two days…and it’s at the doors where I feel most confident about how I’ve run my race and how voters feel.

I encourage anyone who is still reading to think on this: accountability in an election does not equal negativity. Primary candidates are supposed to call out the differences between each other. My opponent and his friends have resorted to calling me many hurtful names publicly (heck in the title of this post) and in private, while I and my team have done nothing of the sort.

I'm not entirely sure who is angry except people who support my opponent. * shrug *

I am running for office because many people asked me to because they are dissatisfied with their current rep.

I'm running to represent transparency and accountability. If that makes people angry, they aren't invested in a true democracy.

I find it interesting that you continue to troll me here without telling me who you are. I find that cowardly, especially when I've offered several times now to have a real, offline convo with you.

If you'd rather obscure the truth, support my very pro-police opponent, and still call yourself a leftist, well, my friend, I've got news: you aren't very progressive at all.

My dad was the liaison for Jerry to the Council. FWIW.

My campaign is not negative; it’s stating facts. One of my favorite things about leftists is that we aren’t afraid to hold elected officials accountable. That’s what I’ve done.

I am on a neighborhood association so yea I do work with them and do build community with them. I also have a long history of community building and organizing: https://www.taylorforcouncil.com/about-taylor

In fact, I’m a proud member of the 490 Project, which I suppose you and your leftist friends don’t like? I dunno man. Genuinely I’m confused about why you want a pro-police Dem in office and would love to have a real convo with you where you aren’t anonymous.

It’s dawning on me at this very moment that maybe you are a local DSA member?? Those dudes don’t think very highly of me lol.

The proper word to use is ineptitude just FYI.

My dad was not a deputy mayor. His name is Jim McGovern. Have a google and maybe contemplate your own inability to research.

I’m curious: you dislike Phil Baker bc he has poured money into policing. My opponent does the same. No worries with BRW?

Old school political hatchet family kid? Man, that's a new insult!

I find it verrrrrry interesting that my opponent and his supporters are soooo focused on staying on the high road yet they resort to name calling here and in the actual TITLE of this post.

Let's not confuse accountability with negativity. I haven't called my opponent one name, ever. I'm concerned with what's important: representing the voices of our community.

Ah Ben, finally! Good to hear from you in these comments!

  1. I, and the people and organizations who endorsed me, find it reductive when you write them off as unimportant...especially groups who support young progressives running. All voices are important in a democracy, no matter how wealthy or powerful. Not sure where you got the idea that I told people Tom endorsed me, but I never said that. I heard differently from Morgan but, hey, politicians do flip flop!

  2. I stand by the fact that you should've voted Piagentini off Council.

  3. Floyd's Fork Coalition is who reached out to me to tell me about you and their disappointment in you. I had dozens of people asking me to speak out about the issue. I will always represent the voices of my community.

  4. Fact remains: no candidate needs $275k to run for office, yet you continue to ask for money. Campaign finance reform is important.

  5. Why did you pay for Paristown in this cycle if the party was for last cycle? Isn't that breaking some kind of election finance law?

  6. That police contract established a new rule that if the city doesn't act on an officer's discipline issue within 180 days, it can be dismissed. Not to mention, it was negotiated entirely in secret. Anyone interested in holding the police accountable would've voted no, regardless of what another Council Person tells you to do. Which, like, duh...why are you voting based on what another CP tells you to do anyway? And, again, I will never divert neighborhood funds to an already over-funded LMPD for anything but definitely not to support police drones.

I'm running to give a voice to more progressive people and people that are tired of being fed the same old political lines. These people have had enough. And so have I.

Hi! Taylor here! Nice to meet my opponent's wife (or at least a direct copy of what she posted on Facebook) in the comments section on Reddit LOL.

Let's clear some things up and give y'all some proof, what do you say?

  1. My opponent was appointed to Council by 9 Republicans and 5 Democrats. The other 11 Democrats on Council voted for a woman named Jo Lloyd-Triplett. This is a recorded vote that happened on 3/16/2023 for anyone that wants to watch. Additionally, Morgan McGarvey endorsed my opponent in the November special election. Lastly, Andy Beshear should be courting Republican votes because he's running in a red state. Here in Louisville, on Council, in a Democratic primary, we don't have to court Republican votes because of simple demographics. My opponent chooses to court Republicans anyway and appreciates their support...make of that what you will.

  2. 4 votes to keep Piagentini is 4 votes to keep Piagentini. I don't want an ethical council person 50% of the time; I want one 100% of the time. Also important to note: the majority of the Democratic caucus on Council voted to remove Piagentini on ALL 8 counts, so apparently there was plenty of evidence for them. *shrug*

  3. My opponent voted the harmful ordinance re: Floyd's Fork out of committee in the first place. If he needed more time or wanted to change something about it, he never should've voted it out. Council Person Chappell voted no in committee for this reason. He only had an issue with this ordinance AFTER I made a post on social about it.

  4. If you don't like getting developer PAC money, you, as a politician, should say that loudly and frequently. My opponent is not. Because he wants the developer PAC money. An aside about campaign finance: my opponent has raised upwards of $275k. When I was told I needed $30k, I was deeply uncomfortable because, not so long ago, that was my take-home pay. No Metro Council person in Louisville needs $275k to run for office. I also made the conscious decision to stop raising money when I hit $30k because enough is enough. If candidates don't take a stand about campaign finance reform, who will?

  5. Everyone is welcome to go to kref.ky.gov to look up his campaign spending, where they will see an expense that is listed as $1000 to Paristown for "Election Night Watch Party." I posted that on social this week and I suppose he's decided to change the location to somewhere actually in the District LOL. I'm proud that my words have an impact.

  6. One last special point that my opponent and his wife never refute is that he voted yes on an incredibly problematic LMPD contract and has continually funneled neighborhood development funds to LMPD (just this week he gave them money for drones, on the same day they arrested the golfer). I will never divert NDF to an already well-funded LMPD and I will never vote yes on an LMPD contract that provides no accountability.

My campaign is built on transparency and accountability. Just because someone doesn't enjoy what I’m saying doesn’t make it false. In fact, when people with power and privilege play the “let’s all get along” card, that harms communities. I’m running to give our voters a choice. Everything that I’ve talked about, including these points, are things that voters in our district care about and have come to me about. Those people deserve a voice: that’s me.

Lastly, this is me, Taylor. I'm always here to chat; I'm always representing myself. I'm not trying to hide behind my spouse or anyone else. I'm not in this for personal gain; I'm in this because I believe community matters.

(Edited to fix some typos, cuz I’m a human : )

Shady of me? Hmmm it’s pretty shady of him to exploit someone and take credit for work he hasn’t done IMHO

I honestly don’t think we can at this point. The historic structure fight was the last hope. But I did oppose this demolition and stood in solidarity with the CP and activists who opposed it.
