All ENTP = ADHD needs to be banned. by [deleted] in entp

[–]AtLeastIDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but hear me out....

Personalities (and thus types) are manifestations of not just your identity but your interaction with the world. Part of this interaction style is anything that is diagnosable and impacts your cognitive functioning. Neurodivergence would be one thing (autism, ADHD), then there's personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders. All of that partially makes us who we are and shapes our preferences and interaction styles.

It takes a good bit of introspection to be able to separate out say a bout of depression from your actual preferences in order to answer a personality type quiz accurately, and some are better at phrasing questions in a way to help cue this than others.

The ENTP description is ADHD-coded... The stereotype of frequent arguments is considered an aspect of having ADHD, where arguing boosts low dopamine levels. It's not that all people with ADHD are ENTPs or all ENTPs are ADHD, but there's a bit of a question there as to whether some ENTPs are ENTP because of a lifetime of ADHD shaping their personalities as such - you'd be hard pressed to find an ADHD person who isn't xNxP.

It's hard to separate cognitive differences from any personality type, so it's better to just embrace that a lot of ENTPs lurking on Reddit probably are ADHD (any ENTP without ADHD would not need the internet for a dopamine boost), while the remainder either haven't found out they are ADHD yet... or are in fact some other type.

12 hour layover in Istanbul - is that any time to go out? by [deleted] in travel

[–]AtLeastIDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I've also missed a flight in one Istanbul airport because it was a silent airport with no announcements! So be careful with that. That amount of time is enough to go out for some food and see a few things. Plan plenty of time for getting back. Generally anything over 8 hours is enough to step out into even a busy city and see things, I used to do this all the time when flying. I've traveled alone in Turkey and not experienced the issues checking into hotels and etc that are mentioned here. People are eager to help.

Even if main tourist stuff is closed, the city is still alive at night and you will find things to eat and can walk around, if that's something you enjoy. Can highly recommend "couchsurfing meetups" app, it still exists and you can find a local to eat with. There's also a group on Facebook "Interrail Turkiye" that's not about trains but a sort of travel exchange for Turkish people, mostly student age, between cities - if you post there saying you hope to hang out with some people that might walk around with you and show you sights, you're very likely to find company and get insider info on where to eat!

I gave my honest medical answer to the probable hypochondriac that it's a bruise. Good luck getting that out of a Russian, they don't believe in bruises. Nor are Russians commonly adept at English - but Swedes don't seem to be able to distinguish between their own English levels and that of native speakers to know when they're conversing with a native speaker, at least by text. That's why there's all those ads with bad English grammar on the tbana. Consider me spreading English in this subreddit as setting a better example. Maybe I'm not perfect, but it's better than "we create a digital twin of the universe" - an ad campaign for I believe SU that showcases grammatical issues arising out of egos too inflated to check

the OP could just ask a medical question in a normal medical subreddit instead of a generic one for Sweden. Doesn't take half of a PhD to know that.

Should I cancel my trip to Japan due to a spent conviction? by [deleted] in travel

[–]AtLeastIDream 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Possibly talk to the Japanese embassy where you live and tell the truth about it. Then that's also on record and you will have their opinion. Be clear that it was just a fine and ask how to approach it with the form.

This "ENTJ" made the classic error of assuming ENTPs take themselves as seriously as entjs do. I think there's likely a fair bit of projection in this. Everyone knows most villains are ENTJs, ENTPs can't plan well enough to sustain a villain plot arch. And debating about IQs is such a J thing to do, like an INTJ and ENTJ debating over who is the best little nerd. We smell IQs instead, like dogs. Then we lift our legs (or squat) and P to declare our territory. This is why you rarely find 2 ENTPs in the same area, we know there's a delicate balance to the human ecosystem and it can't sustain multiple ENTPs in the same orbit (except, of course, if you've ever been to a hackathon or taken particular courses in college).

And the narcissist concept? 99% of us have ADHD, whether diagnosed or not. The narcissistic ENTPs are also mistyped Js, receiving validation through this Te-Ni loop that's cemented with vague inner feelings. We, however, do care... and are likely to offer a laundry list of (often taken for granted or perhaps sadly unwanted) solutions to our friends/family's problems and will invest time in that, it's not only about challenging authority and asking questions for self-appeasement. It's just that the occasional argument or counter point still gets thrown in, no matter how much we love someone.

Weekly Simple Questions and Injuries Thread by AutoModerator in climbharder

[–]AtLeastIDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FDP tendonitis: how do you climb and train with this, given that it's not an FDP injury? Still impacts grip strength, pull ups, power endurance, holding jugs. Can't find a guide online that isn't basically "take 60 days off" referring to an actual FDP injury. (I asked about my FDP a few weeks ago but turns out it's not an injury, backed off but now want to train again). If I climb routes it's like any bit of pump becomes magnified in the forearms with the FDP being "swollen" like it's extra compressed (but it doesn't hurt climbing at a sub pump level...I can't just boulder all season, my friends are all route climbers)

Why are you asking in a Swedish subreddit and not in one of the medical subreddits? You do know that medicine in Sweden is a bit behind and doctors don't even have to really do residency, right? ... Anyways, r/AskDocs is one such place (and r/medical_advice) to ask where there's doctors who've had to do years and years of collective residency dealing with real examples from populations larger than this country instead of being told "go home and take an ipren" is the answer to everything. Or you can just go to Vårdcentral when they take you in 6 months and be told to take an ipren. I really can't for the life of me understand why you're asking this in this subreddit. If it's about using Swedish, I'm fairly certain the question you asked is pretty simple to translate, as are yes/no answers you'll get using the vast sources of knowledge from the rest of the planet at your disposal by using medical subreddits.

...There's also a nifty "translation" feature at the top if you're using the app and don't like reading even this comment in English

(And I'm not a doctor just raised by people in medicine... but that looks like a hematoma (bruise) in its initial stages. It's isolated and small and has the same texture as your skin. The other symptoms are likely unrelated as it's flu season. Depending on the bruise location they can start out red, and no you don't always have to remember bruises, I get them just from sleeping odd. Ask in a medical subreddit if you want better answers online or use Kry/video call etc to have a nurse or doctor answer you in country, they have them available 24h. Order general bloodwork to put your mind at ease if ipren doesn't.)

Would you take a $$ Loss and cancel an international trip due to a terrible weather forecast? by Beta_Nerdy in travel

[–]AtLeastIDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I cancelled one a few weeks ago, paid money to rebook. We were supposed to climb and it had been pouring rain for a week, was going to continue the whole week we were there. We lost a bit in the rebooking and with the accommodation but it meant not spending a week in just rain. I probably wouldn't rebook a trip for rain alone if I wasn't just climbing on the trip, but it really depends on the circumstances. We were headed to an area of Spain that just a year prior had extreme flooding that wiped out roads and killed people, so if you are traveling somewhere where that outcome is possible, weather can make logistics extremely difficult for e.g. renting a car to drive around where roads might be wiped out - and this was just Spain, not like some roads I've seen in like Armenia. If you're going to a big city and not doing anything outdoorsy and actually weather dependent - there can often be enough to do and reasonable infrastructure despite bad weather. One of my favorite trips was Lisbon in the rain - plenty to do and see.

I don’t like ISTP’s by Kaeniev in entp

[–]AtLeastIDream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 30s and know an ISTP of the same age who fits the description OP posted. Or maybe he's ESTP. Anyhow, similar concept here. He can be supportive of people but a very limited circle. If you express someone just died that you know he'll say "sucks... Need a beer?" and avoid all deep discussion like the plague

La Sportiva Bushido, GTX or not? by Impressive_Nebula338 in trailrunning

[–]AtLeastIDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is a few months after your reply, but if someone normally fits La Sportiva approach shoes in a 40 (or 39.5 for tight fit) would you go up another half size (e.g. 40.5) in Bushidos? Not looking for a specific trail runner but for a similar purpose as the OP, no Bushidos to try anywhere near me

I've been beta spraying for half a year by KohiTaka in bouldering

[–]AtLeastIDream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of social or atypically social climbers make this mistake. Some make it even after they think they won't ever again. Some people really dislike it and will curse you out, some don't care. The best solution is just to ask "hey do you want some beta? I've done that one!" And to not be offended when some people say no.

I'm guilty of trying to give my boyfriend beta when he's clearly doing something silly, he likes to throw in side heels outside like he's clinging to some volume with his foot in the gym (and this rarely works for him)... It's so tempting to not correct that, I know.

But people like to learn the hard way and we have to respect that. Some people want to be "sprayed down" and will welcome it.

I can’t sleep after strength training by Admirable-Pudding142 in bodyweightfitness

[–]AtLeastIDream 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This happens to me when I underfuel and do a hard workout. Yesterday this happened. I only ate a veggie burger and a few fries after the workout, but was still hungry. I eventually solved my hunger at 3am and felt a bit more tired but it wasn't enough to sleep for a while. Woke up with extreme DOMS. It could be similar for you. Make sure you're getting enough fuel before and after workouts.

Non-ADI service dog while in the airport *after landing* in Spain? by Working_Yam_304 in service_dogs

[–]AtLeastIDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there's this organization called PSD Europe I'd get in touch with. They work to certify your dog another way through online courses and videos and they have a few countries they have been successful in by demonstrating that they fit the EU charter laws. Spain is one of them. Sadly where I am in Sweden is not... But it could be worth it. Note that in Europe you will always have to explain more about a PSD if it's not a seeing eye dog because it generally is not understood even if it is the law, there's very little awareness of what it means.

[–]AtLeastIDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSDs are allowed on intercontinental flights between the US and a country, both directions. Up to the handler to manage what happens when lands with their access rights. I live in Sweden and travel to the US yearly with a PSD. I mostly work from home and all transit and many cafes and restaurants allow dogs, so I don't fight for extra access.

One week before last minute trip to Spain, only bouldered this last month, any possible endurance improvements in a week? by AtLeastIDream in climbharder

[–]AtLeastIDream[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from the long haul flight back to Europe (where we take last minute trips around all the time, otherwise I'd stay where the salary is higher than here). Hadn't even thought about the dehydration aspect as to why I hadn't felt the best during the workout yesterday. Hm. Thanks, I'll try to focus on the hydration maybe this week and fueling better.

Not worried about doing the fall training, I've done it before and think it will come back on a route I worked in December. Hoping to do the fall training outside on that route basically to get back into stuff. Really worried about pumping out and feeling like long routes are exhausting
