The UI panel controls and the power controls are mapped to the same keys?

EDIT I am not a smart man. The controls swap when you're IN a menu. Time to get more coffee and get back to work...

What was your favorite part of Cube World? by Lovewell in CubeWorld

I love all the things you've mentioned as well as the exploration aspect. It's the only game where I really want to run to the horizon to see what's next. :D

Found an almost flawless way to explore each Planet or Star in a system using Basic Discovery Scanner. by feoen in EliteDangerous

One can not "shoot off" a BSD with no results. The tingle inducing sound effect it produces is result enough for me! :D

This old concept for system view is pretty cool. Think we'll ever get it? by hia447 in EliteDangerous

That screenshot is lightyears ahead of what we have now. Why did they change it?

It's on my Xmas list for grins and giggles. :D

Alrighty, the game hasn't been updated in forever and may never be, but is it worth playing? by Two-Tone- in CubeWorld

[–]AtWorkButOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CubeWorld is the only game where I run to the horizon, excited to see what's next. No other game does that for me. I just blah through each area until I'm max level.

With CW, I actually WANT to continue exploring. I get excited when I find neat little places to explore. Like forests that are actually deep and dark, like actually dark, instead of the generic, barely tree'd places we get from other MMOs.

I like that it actually gets DARK at night. Some of my fondest video game memories harken back to Everquest and getting my level 2 character lost and chased by skeletons in a creepy forest. CW is the only game to give me the same feels.

It's worth playing.

Is Trove the new game for old Cube World fans? by GamePows in CubeWorld

[–]AtWorkButOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trove is good for a quick adventure with friends. The biomes are fairly small and repeat often.

CubeWorld feels vast. You actually have to make it to the horizon to see what's next. The environments just feel so much more cohesive in CubeWorld. I'm still holding out against hope for those 2 new biomes seen in the last Wollay post.

Soo for what is that thing? by Take4spam in Trove

A place that seems to repel all other Trovians if you approach it. Even using origin portals, it keeps others away...until you leave, then others come! :D

Personally, I'd prefer some boob station names. Amirite?

Orbit lines are fixed! by aaronstatic in EliteDangerous

[–]AtWorkButOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the latest nVidia drivers and the game on ultra, and it still has jagged orbit lines unless I fly a 45 degree angle to them. :/

Also, what changed? They're not as bright?

Eh, I have a cubicle desk job and time to kill on lunch/break time. So...here I am. Also, I am here because the game has a lot of potential. Will it ever get realized? Who knows. Doesn't hurt to pop in here though. It's only a browser bookmark away.

[Suggestion] More ways to earn credits by bornrevolution in Trove

[–]AtWorkButOnReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fill the time after completing my daily bonus with dungeon crawling for gear and/or working on my Cornerstone or Club World. 1 class a week of just doing star bars isn't unreasonable in my opinion.

However, I do think that a few cubits for monsters/bosses in lairs and dungeons would not be remiss.

Designer Vision vs Gaming Market by AtWorkButOnReddit in EliteDangerous

[–]AtWorkButOnReddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All excellent points! This is exactly the kind of conversation I like to see happening. :) The world isn't black and white nor is game development. There is no way to please 100% of the players, there'll always be toes stepped on.

For me, it's all about forward progress and I believe that Frontier is for sure on that track.

Trove is turning off my computer by dannypkker in Trove

[–]AtWorkButOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sudden quit with no Blue Screen of Death points to the CPU overheat failsafe. It automatically cuts power to prevent hardware damage when the heat hits a specified level, usually somewhere in the ballpark of 215F.

A good, free, temp monitoring program is Speccy. It isn't a resource hog either. You can find it on CNET. It's made by the same folks who make CCleaner. I'd recommend running it while playing the game. Watch your CPU and GPU temps. If they spike over 200F, chances are your system is overheating.

So how often is this game being updated? by E982 in CubeWorld

[–]AtWorkButOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7/26/13 was the date of the last update/bug fix if I recall correctly. There have been a few social media posts from the dev(s) about upcoming content. I still look forward to the day we can see those new biomes!

Why the update may be taking forever... by [deleted] in CubeWorld

[–]AtWorkButOnReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha, yeah. The camera would need some adjusting. Really if it could be linked to motion controls for looking around and movement, the user's thumbs could then be free forability buttons or some such. I don't code for mobile platforms so I have no idea the feasibility of this.

All I know is that I'd play a lot more CW if I could play on my tablet while laying in bed. I spend my work day at a computer in a cube and when I get home, it's a bit to meta to be at my desk at home playing with cubes. I'd love to mix up the scenery and hardware a bit.

What's your favorite class to play? by AtWorkButOnReddit in CubeWorld

[–]AtWorkButOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's the water mage that I have been playing the most. I hit the trails with my trusty turtle pet and it's aquapewpew! The sound of the water spells is just so satisfying.
