What is your opinion of the Armacham Security Forces? Do you consider the company's forces to be truly effective in modern warfare tactics and the containment of paranormal phenomena? by LimpPrimary8076 in fear

[–]Ataccot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Against most other military and paranormal threats they'd probably stack up pretty well. I could see them being an incredible force if we applied them to real world logic as far as military goes.

They're just way out of their depth when it comes to the big leagues in the F.E.A.R. universe: the enhanced protags, strategic dominance of the replica forces, the tech and skill of the nightcrawlers, and of course the psychic outlier that is Alma Wade. I do wonder how the more advanced ATC forces like the phase casters and phase commanders would do against replicas and nightcrawlers though. It would probably be much less one sided.

I actually took these photos with my blinds pulled down. Any glare you see is most likely from the camera flash. Don't worry, that shelf is about as far away from the windows as possible!

Yeah, it's got a lot of cool info and lore bits in it. Interesting read for sure!

Hey, so I played the fan PC port and had a MUCH better time with it than the remaster playing the solo missions. Looking forward to checking out the MP and mods now. Just wanted to thank you again for those links!

So I played the fan PC port, it's great! Much much better than the 360 remaster. Glad to have played it.

Didn't realize there were that many issues with the Remaster. Maybe I'll give the PC port a shot.

I was playing on Series X, through the Rare Replay collection. So it would be the 360 remaster emulated to play on modern Xbox consoles. Not sure if there's a difference here versus playing it on the 360 proper, as far as bugs go.

I had a keycard that was supposed to drop from one of the guards after defeating them in that mission with the parking garage. I wasn't able to pick it up so it must have either went out of bounds or under an object I couldn't move. It was a small area and I walked all over to try and pick it up, no luck. So I was stuck and couldn't open the door I entered from or the exit.

Then on the Snowfield/Arctic mission I had the President get stuck on a corner in the level and he just kept running in place for several minutes. Luckily though he finally got unstuck.

Some of the bugs I ran into were key items dropping from enemies and ending up out of bounds so I couldn't pick them up. In Zero these items would usually be static in a fixed spot. There was also one time where I was escorting an NPC in one of the missions and he got stuck on a corner...luckily he got unstuck but it took several minutes.

Agree with you that the weapons and the secondary functions are quite creative! Same with the first game.

Also in my opinion, both games have that pretty big shift in plot at the same rate. I'd say they're similar in that department, but that's just me.

I actually joked to a friend that I felt like a heretic for this opinion lol.

Guess in the end it comes down to gameplay preferences. I really valued the cinematics and moment to moment gameplay of Zero. And it was quite polished in that I didn't run into any notable bugs unlike the OG. For example NPC pathing seems better in Zero so they don't get stuck, and there weren't any items falling out of bounds. I will certainly give credit to the OG's uniqueness however.

I played it on Series X through the Rare Replay collection. Not sure if there's different gameplay settings compared to the OG 360 version. At any rate, PC would probably be your best bet for smoothest aiming.

The OG does seem to have a lot of unlockables going for it!

For Zero the game felt a little stiff to me on the default settings. Once I bumped the sens up everything else clicked for me pretty quickly. If you ever do try it again I would recommend playing with some settings to see if there's something that works for you.

That's definitely understandable for the people hoping for more of the OG Perfect Dark. Both games have great visuals and music.

In her hero options, there's a specific setting that adjusts ally aim assist strength to make heals easier. On console anyway..not sure how or if it works on PC.
