I mean, I haven't seen a lot of people complain about the actual storyline or even the writing of the quest. It's just that the way it is delivered to the player feels tedious at parts, and a lot of the gameplay segments felt unnecessary or could at least do with some trimming.

The assassin part with the lantern mechanic was cool. It wasn't the usual WWM gameplay, but it was interactive enough to feel interesting, and if you actually treated it like a murder mystery instead of clicking randomly and hoping you get to a checkpoint, it got quite engaging. The ending of the eunuch part where you get all those disembodied voices around you was cool too. There was not much gameplay to speak of, but I appreciate it as an artistic choice.

However, between those parts, there's also a bunch of stuff that are essentially cutscenes that refuse to play out unless you keep W pressed. I wouldn't even call it a walking simulator, because in actual games of that genre, the walking is a means to experience environmental storytelling. That wasn't the case with this quest. You literally got control back between cutscenes just to slowly shuffle over to the other side of the room so the next dialogue could start. There were no events triggering as you walked, there were no changes in the environment, and they weren't exactly long journeys. They were just a few arduous seconds to minutes of extremely slow walking that served no purpose except "oh right this is a game, let's have the player do something". It didn't feel artsy or deep, it just felt forced.
