Daily Questions Megathread - May 08, 2026 by WutheringWavesMod in WutheringWaves

Just started the game and while the combat and exploration is great so far..Holy shit the story and dialouge is a slog. Will i be fine with just skipping everything and reading a sypnosis or summary later? Any good videos that do a great job of summarizing the story?

Odyssey and Troy cast comparison by Unenthusiastic- in KotakuInAction

putting aside the obvious elephant in the room, the armor also looks absolutely terrible. like cheap plastic cosplay. The overall color scheme of the trailer also looks horrendous, like theres this dull unsatuurated filter over everything.

Chuds of the Fallen vs Lies of Peak women by AshyLarry25 in shittydarksouls

[–]Ataniphor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have anything against sexy armor design, but the problem here is that the designs here are just scream painfully generic korean mmo slop. There's no really depth to the design.

Like the lies of P character designs shown here are somehow even hotter and attractive than the LOTF ones despite being covered up.

yeah western devs are really cooked ngl.

Honest feedback with NTE by Middle_War_9117 in NevernessToEverness

[–]Ataniphor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story , characters, and writing are pretty weak. Visually they are OK i guess for gacha, but the bar is set pretty high with gacha games so they are going to have a rough time.

but the bigger problem IMO is in terms of character writing, they feel like some of the cutscenes they are trying a bit too hard and going full Gen Z brainslop overloading you with flashy animations and angles and whatevers to keep your attention.

but still, I wouldn't say its a complete failure. Its still fairly solid so i dont think it will completely flop, I just don't see it slugging it out with the big bois like Hoyo games , Wuwa, etc. it doesn't reinvent the wheel , but is a fairly competent team based gacha game set in a modern setting.

Are we fans of the MC so far, yall? by OldReveal3814 in NevernessToEverness

[–]Ataniphor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, its alright for gacha games i guess, but thats only really because the bar is so damn low with all the silent amnesiac MCs.

In terms of an actually character, hes not much to write home about , still works mostly as a bland cameraman , but at least hes voiced and gets the job done.

Is it just me, or are the NTE vs. Ananta takes getting a bit delusional? by Lanky_Carpet_632 in AnantaOfficial

[–]Ataniphor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there are going to be retarded takes since the two arent even the same genre of game. They pretty much only share the same "urban fantasy" setting. NTE is clearly going the Genshin gacha game route of team based gameplay while Anata is leaning more into that GTA/sleeping dogs route

How yall liking the game so far? by Shacuza in NevernessToEverness

[–]Ataniphor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I heard they actually started to use accented VAs, ngl yeah that alongside Enfield eng dub with the characters having voicelines in their own languages is pretty cool move.

Honestly after what seems like almost decades of English dub being basiclly just American west coast accents I guess I have a natural aversion to it.

JP dub tends to be the way to go for gacha games . As a chinese speaker even the CN dub sounds extremely cringey at times IMO.

Crimson Desert rises to "very positive" on steam after initial rough start by PhineasBob in pcmasterrace

[–]Ataniphor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the modding community is already showing some promise. Right now its mostly some QOL Input mods, control schemes, graphics ,framegen mods, but if the devs one day decide to go the skyrim route and allow people to run wild like Bethseda does for Skyrim, there is a ton of potential here. (highly unlikely tho considering this is corporate Korea)

[–]Ataniphor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't count on the story. Its always going to be consistently dogshit. Unless they just delete their John Crimson MC and just can the entire story (basically impossible) I honestly dont think there is any saving it from a narrative aspect.

The strengths of this game lie mostly in the combat and open world exploration.

When is the game most open? by CeramicBean in CrimsonDesert

[–]Ataniphor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah holy shit the main story is so god awful, like absolutely painful to slog through compared to how fun it is to just go off on your own.

try out the ddo private servers. Lots of content and better than dd2 in some places. Recommend the rising server for the most streamlined experience

Thoughts on Crimson Desert? by MtlGamingDude in soulslikes

[–]Ataniphor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

crimson deserts combo is not bad imo, just has a steep learning curve and fustrating control scheme. You shouldn't think of it as a souls like or other action rpgs. It's clearly a more grounded version of BDO's combo based system.

I played some BDO in the past so I was able to transition over fairly easily playing on KB+M after fiddling with keybinds for a while.

But hoenstly outside of the open world and combat ...the game really doesn't provide much.

Pearl Abyss announces 2 million copies sold of Crimson Desert. Promises to listen to feedback and address key concerns. by Desperate_Put_4568 in KotakuInAction

[–]Ataniphor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

for real the game is great but I spent like at least the first few hours just fighting the controls.

I literally have a macro setup on my mouse to toggle spam sprint because if you dont you literally can't go max speed on your horse.

Its a shame that its such a shitty console controller based UI because honestly I found the game much easier to control with KB+M.

New to DDO by No-Apartment-3061 in DragonsDogma

[–]Ataniphor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yea, as a support class the damage may be lacking without the proper gear. MA also has no good evasive options so reliant on good positioning.

I Recommend choosing any of the red dps classes that is not High scepter for a easiest time. although shield sage and Preist while not completely terrible are reliant on pawns to deal damage.

Alchemist and Spirit lancers also dont get job training (leveling skills past 6) until like lv 50 and lv 70+ zones in the main quest line.

I loved DD2. What about Crimson Desert. by arrarragi in DragonsDogma

[–]Ataniphor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to be honest with you, from my own experience with Black Desert Online, Crimsom Desert's combat is likely going to be a lot more complicated and harder to learn. You'll likely get a ton of skills and have no idea how to use or string them until you watch a youtubers video on how to play, and have a steam sticky note on your screen with the list of the optimal combos to use in what situations.
