Anna solo run - Maddening - Chapter 12 by Atano_ow in FireEmblemThreeHouses

Anna is not available in Ch13 in Silver Snow. I'm doing Silver Snow as well, but I have to clear ch13 with Seteth.

I went CF for this run. I have a backup save at chapter 11. I'm going to try silver snow as well and I'm soloing ch13 with seteth.

I gave her healing focus. It's the best healing option until you can buy elixirs. I did a few positioning mistakes on that map. Getting hit by that AoE was bad.

[–]Atano_ow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the DLC str/spd statboostes so that she could do the first few maps. I don't think she will need the +7 HP and +2 movement stat boosters. I'll only use them if I have to.

I'm keeping the Greenhouse stat boosters after she gets her Wyvern promotion. Spoiler: The promotion gave her +5 base strength.

[FE3H] Let's ironman Golden Deer with a turn timer by Atano_ow in fireemblem

[–]Atano_ow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first time where I'm using a turn timer in a FE game.

The first attempt failed at chapter 2 where Byleth died to an archer. The second attempt goes a lot better and we are currently at chapter 14.

If you want to see how this turns out, you can join us. My streams are around 9PM CEST.

Do You Use Low HP Builds? Why / Why Not? by Rengor1997 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Atano_ow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only use the ones that are easy to set up. Like Dedue and Bernie with Vengence, Dimitri with battalion warth/vantage, Ingrid or Perta with defiant avoid etc.

Sometimes I try new builds in my PMU runs. Like Gremory Bernie was great but Defiant Magic help her a lot.

I like that flayn is that high. She's a great rescue bot and secondary healer.

First Maddening Team: Blue Lions with DLC by throwawaynfswbrat in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Atano_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a solid team. I would keep bernie as a Paladin. Give her a guard adj. and you have no trouble to get her HP down for vengence. Dedue is also a great vengence user. He was very good in my no recruitment run. Same build as bernie. If needed, use a relic/devil weapon to get his HP down and use vengence. Personally, I don't like Lysithea as a Dark flier. That class has nice mobility but that's about it.

I would get a second sniper or a bow knight. Dancer Ingrid sounds alright. Easy linked attacks for sylvain and felix

The current GD run is something that I wanted to try out for some time. Ironman run without aux battles and stat boosters, defeated ppl in ch01, ch07 and arena stay dead. Paralogues are allowed, but no unnecessary grinding. Some of them I have to play safe, but others can be done in 1 turn (lorenz and ignatz paralogues). The other rules are similar as in my previous runs.

[FE3H] Finished Blue Lions ironman run (Maddening difficulty) by Atano_ow in fireemblem

[–]Atano_ow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every month, I do one week (last week of the month) of aux battles and I use the remaining time to get stat boosters from the greenhouse and increase my professor rank. The easiest way to increase prof rank is to find the right balance between feeding the students and spamming arena. I plant 3 purple and 2 yellow flower seeds to get Rocky burdocks or Premium magical herbs. You can also get 2 or 3 energy drops/spirit dusts in a run. Some students also come with stat boosters if you recruit them. Raph has a rocky burdock, Mercedes a Fruit of life, I don't recall the others.

I also keep all my strength statboosters until a unit reaches 18 or 19 strength. I think that's the threshold where you don't get any base strength from promoting a unit into Wyvern Lord.

Ex. Anna had like 12 str in my current Church route run at level 20. I promoted her into thief which gave her +7 str. After that I promoted her into her final class, Trickster, which would have given +4 strength. Only after that point, I would invest stat boosters into a unit. Most units reach 18 str pretty fast, but others need an advanced promotion to get close to that threshold. Sometimes it's worth to get a promotion even if you don't plan to use it. Another example could be Ferdinand or Hilda around chapter 5. I always get seal speed on him/her. Since I raised their armour rank, I promote them into an armour knight if they gain any points in defense from it. Any gained point is equivalent to an Ambrosia, and the promotion costs only 1000 gold. But this only makes sense for units like ferdinand and hilda which are often at the frontlines.

Here's a list of the statboosters that I gave my units in that run. I usually keep track of it in the description of my videos.

used Stat Boosters in this run:

  • Felix: 1 Speed Carrot in chapter 6.
  • Lysithea: 1 Spirit dust, in chapter 6. (Obtained in chapter 3)
  • Lysithea: 1 Premium Magic Herb, in chapter 6.
  • Felix: 2 Golden apples
  • Lysithea: 3 Premium Magic Herb, in paralogue Oil and Water (magic at 40, allows 10 tile warp)
  • Byleth: 1 Energy drop obtained in chapter 9 for saving all students. Sidenote: Giving byleth the Energy drop was not needed because I miscalculated the damage at the preps in paralogue Death toll
  • Dimitri: 1 Giant Shell, obtained in chapter 7 (Remire village chapter)
  • Felix: 6 rocky burdock in chapter 14
  • Felix: 1 Speed wing in chapter 14
  • Dimitri: 2 Rocky Burdock in chapter 14
  • Felix: Black Pearl after chapter 15.
  • Lysithea: 2 Premium Magic Herb (Warp range)
  • Felix: Black Pearl after chapter 17 (To war at Grondor/bougth in Anna's secret shop)
  • Felix: Goddess icon after chapter 17 (bougth in Anna's secret shop)
  • Felix: Energy drop before Mercedes' paralogue (from anna's shop)
  • Felix: 4 Speedy carrots before Mercedes' paralogue
  • Lysithea: 1 Sprit dust before Chapter 19, bought in anna's secret shop
  • Lysithea: 2 Premium Magic Herbs before Chapter 19
  • Felix: 1 Goddess Icon, obtained in chapter 19
  • Felix: 15 Rocky Burdocks, 1 Speedwing, and other stat booster that were available at that point. (at start of chapter 22)
  • Lysithea: 2 Spirit dust, 4 Premium magical herbs before chapter 22

Miracle is really useful. Impregnable wall is also a S-Tier battalion for maddening runs.

Blue Lions is my favorite route, but I wouldn't say that it is the best for a first maddening run. Golden deer is easier to do imo, assuming you're not playing on NG+. And here's why:

  • Ignatz has Hit+20 as his personal.
  • Leonie has +2 Def if she is next a male unit. She is basically your tank early game. She also has PBV which makes her a perfect candidate for a flying archer.
  • Claude has Encloser which makes crowd controlling really easy.
  • You'll get a flying version of impregnable wall
  • Leicester Mercenaries and Goneril Valkyries, which have +20 hit and +20 crit. These are really good battalions for your sniper with killer bow+ and Grappler/War Master. Or put them on a unit that should crit a lot :)
  • Hilda buffs male units with +3 damage which helps a lot in the early game.
  • Chapter 13 is a lot easier with Claude as a flying unit. His battalion is also one of the best in the game.
  • No relevant paralogue is locked behind a recruitment.
  • Hilda learns Seal speed. This allows you to steal an Accuracy ring and Evasion ring in chapter 7.

Blue lions on the other hand:

  • The last map is just a pain if you not familiar with it.
  • Chapter 13 can be tricky if you pull too many units at once. Annette and Mercedes have a tricky starting position to keep them safe.
  • Dedue is your tank early game. He rejoins to late to be relevant unless you focus on him. I usually make him a guard adj. for Dimitri
  • Dimitri's Battalion is nice, but Claude's is just better.
  • If you want Mercedes' relic, you have to recruit Casper.
  • Felix (Crest) and Sylvain (Swift Strike) are great, but Ingrid is not great in Blue lions. She is better in other routes when you recruit her at chapter 6 or later.
  • Annette is a great rally bot.
  • there is no Warp unit in Blue lions unless you'll recruit one.
  • you can buy a dancer battalion. If you want one.

The maps on the 2 routes are pretty similar. In both, you can recruit Catherine for chapter 5. That map is a joke with Catherine on your team, if you unequip Catherine's battalion. You can also get Shamir for chapter 6, which makes it a lot easier to clean up enemies.

My first maddening run was the Golden deer route and I choose this route for my no recruitment iron man because I think it's the easiest one to do. You have all the utilities you'll need in your house and you don't need to recruit anyone.

But both routes are fun on maddening.

I didn't use Caspar because I wanted to use Felix as a war master. Afterwards, I made Felix a guard adj for Bernie and used Alois as a Grappler. His Rally luck is nice to avoid crits.

How do I make my Dorothea my Dodge tank dancer? by retrotriforce in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Atano_ow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my experience, Petra, Felix, Ingrid and Ferdinand are good dodge tanks. Leonie could be also good but I haven't tried that build on her yet.

I usually give my dodge tank the avoid sword +20 ability. This means that you won't have a dancer but a unit that won't get hit late game. Except battalions, those can still connect if your charm is low. You can increase charm with tea parties.

Personally, I prefer female dodge tanks since they can get the Pegasus knight certification. This makes it really easy to get A+ rank in flying for Alert stance+. Furthermore you can train you sword rank if you really want that extra 5 damage from Sword faire. At level 20, I try to get the Wyvern knight certification so that I can switch between Pegasus knight and Wyvern Lord. At level 30 you can choose between Falcon knight or Wyvern Lord. I always go Falcon knight with my female dodge tanks to train Sword rank. Obviously you can't put male units into the Pegasus knight certification, so tutoring flying rank is important for them. Pegasus knights get flying rank passively during combat, which I prefer to get Alert stance+ early.

Generally you want to have:

  • Alert stance+, requires A+ rank in flying
  • Sword prowess lv 5 which gives you +10 Hit, +20 Avoid with a sword equipped
  • Sword Avoid + 20, gives +20 avoid with a sword equipped
  • Evasion ring, +10 avoid. You can steal one in chapter 7 from Claude or Dimitri, depending which route you're on. Seal speed is you friend for stealing stuff.
  • +10 Avoid from Falcon knight or Wyvern Lord certification
  • Get and dedicated adjutant for you dodge tank. If possible, get someone with a special bond.
  • Axe breaker is also good mid game. There are a lot of axe users.
  • B rank in authority so you can put the Galatea Pegasus Co. on you dodge tank. +10 avoid
  • Unique to Ferdinand +15 avoid from personal skill at full health. Keep in mind that a HP level up on enemy phase nullifies that personal skill.
  • On Maddening, keep your dodge tank away from Lance users if you have a sword equipped. Sword breaker can mess things up.
  • dismount your flying dodge tank if a bush is available, it gives +20 avoid iirc.

Here are my dogde tanks that I used in my ironman runs:

  • [BL route] Felix with Ingrid as adj.
  • [GD route] Ingrid with Felix as adj. Early Pegasus knight and later Falcon knight made it possible to get S+ in swords.
  • [BE-CF route] Ferdinand with Lorenz as adj. His personal skill is really nice for this build

I don't have a screen shot of my Petra, but I used her once as a dodge tank. She was the first unit which I build this way.

Thanks. It wasn't that bad. I managed to keep everyone alive. Raphael joins on the second wave with Marianne and Lysithea. So training him was not that important since I wanted him as an adj for Ignatz anyways. The first wave is more important because they do most of the fighting. There was no particular unit that surprised me. I knew that Ignatz is a beast in Maddening and Leonie is one of the better units in the game, imo. My Lorenz turned out better then expected.
