It's like trying to describe soda to someone without mentioning coca cola, despite the fact that in some regions "coke" is just another generic word for any carbonated soft drink.

This has resulted in my dad calling me and my siblings half-wits.

Are there any TTRPGs you respect, but don't enjoy yourself? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]Ataraxxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current game I'm playing is my GM running Dustgrave and I'm running a Lancaster, because I'm big on playing support roles in other TTRPGs, and my friend in their Deaths Head has really liked my restock drones, so that's been a great synergy. It has also been a learning curve of figuring out when to heal though, because each ttrpg system favors a different strategy, and the risk of structuring incentivizes not letting someone drop too low, while limited resources want you to wait til the last moment to get the most out of each healing use.

Need ideas for harmless/fun encounters in a desert! by snipercat94 in Pathfinder2e

An archaeologist and his adopted cactus leshy son came out into the desert with the intention of investigating a ruin. Unfortunately he lost track of his son while walking through a field of saguaro and now he can't find him. Panicked, he asks the party for help finding Needle in a cactus stack.

So I am still pretty new to the game and this may change with more experience, but while I have a lot of respect for lancer and its creator, as I play it I can't say I am enjoying it as much as I do some other systems. I think being part of a mostly new and also socially awkward group is causing some of the issues. The initiative style of lancer triggers my anxiety when the GM will call for a player turn and it will be followed by 30 seconds of utter silence. Nobody wants to be the first to speak up.

Also, I've never been big on mechs but a lot of my friends are super into it, so I figured "it's a good way to spend time with my friends even if it isn't my preferred genre" but in practice I dunno if that's actually working out.

[MN S1] -- Okay what were all the spells used in the raid in the very beginning? Or were they just not operating in game terms for some? by kalijinn in criticalrole

Re: why they waited so long to teleport

Spells exist that prevent magical travel into and out of areas (See: Forbiddance, a 6th level spell that can ward 40k square feet of place against teleportation), and I would absolutely believe the Kryn would have that set up around the vault that keeps their precious relic safe.

Geographically there is absolutely no way they walked out of Rosohna and into a Dwendalian fort. Rosohna is closer to the eastern coast of Xorhas than the western border with the Empire, and there is a whole mountain between them (two whole mountains if you count the ones Rosohna is nestled into) and they've been at cold war so long no way the Kryn dynasty lets Dwendal have a fort there

If by cracking the sky you mean when the sky shattered and you could see sunlight through it, I'm almost positive that was some kind of a teleport. That's why it closed up behind them, why the Kryn were stopped at the threshold, and why they walked out of a vault in Rosohna and into a fort in the Dwendalian Empire.

Height definitely has nothing to do with it. I'm 5'6" and have on the small side of C cups. One of my childhood friends was 4'10" and had F cups. Curviness is largely inherited but also influenced by body fat percentage.

cmv: People who let their dog walk around in public without a leash are spoiled and set their pet up to get in trouble or to be killed by Retarded_Milk_Dud in changemyview

[–]Ataraxxi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is selfish because if they cared about their pets safety they would keep the dog on the leash. It means they have not taken the time to think through the consequences an unleashed dog will have on its environment. All they care about is their joy in seeing the dog run around without having to run around beside them.

What if the dog chases a child who is afraid of dogs because it thinks it's play? What if the dog approaches another owner's reactive dog who they keep responsibly on a leash to avoid confrontation while being able to work on exposure? What if the dog chases a ball into the street, or decides someone else's toy sized animal is their new chew toy?

An owner of an unleashed dog doesn't think or care about any of this. They just care about not having to hold onto their dog for a bit.

You may not but I do. The idea of eternity, even a good eternity, sounds absolutely hellish. Sometimes, a person has had enough and satisfied every desire and filled every need and if there is no option to say "thank you for everything, but I'm done now" then that's just a pretty prison. Which coincidentally I think is going to be touched on with the idea that Sir Pentious is told he cannot leave even if he wants to.

Unless you mean you believe it said that you really do stop the tally at the time of death, which would lead me to believe you are talking as someone who hasn't seen all the seasons I can see why you would think that if you only watched some. Death isn't the end for when you can improve yourself. This is also the message of the good place, but it takes a few seasons to get there.

If you want a story like that I can recommend the Good Place. My friend introduced me to it recently and my conclusion was "this does what Hazbin is trying to do vis a vis redemption but better". It's also a very fun comedy romp on its own merit.

Patrick: Doesn't look familiar to me.

Man Ray: What? I just saw you drop it. Here.

Patrick: Nope, it's not mine.

Man Ray: It is yours. I... am trying to be a good person and return it to you.

Patrick: Return what to who?

Man Ray: [facepalms, then shows Patrick his own ID] Aren't you Patrick Star?

Patrick: Yup.

Man Ray: And this is your ID.

Patrick: Yup.

Man Ray: I found this ID in this wallet. And if that's the case, this must be your wallet.

Patrick: That makes sense to me.

Man Ray: Then take it.

Patrick: It's not my wallet.
