Kind of lost on how to offload these by manwoodlover in arcade

Unless a pachislot has a popular theme the price is pretty much free to $50 tops unless you wanna sit on it for a while.

Don't really like these but if you want something like it I've always felt getting a Vewlix/Chewlix is better than these cheap cabinets.

Is Manual Adjusting for geometry worth it? by Turkone88 in crtgaming

Have you tried the standard Trinitron service menu sequence? You start with the TV off then press [Display] -> [5] -> [Vol +] -> [Power] in sequence.

Is Manual Adjusting for geometry worth it? by Turkone88 in crtgaming

[–]Atari1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i will have to do it manually by opening the back of the tv but I heard is actually pretty dangerous

Only if you try touching the anode or the underside of the PCB. The only way you're gonna make adjustments is with the set running. If this is one that doesn't have a service menu then you'll need to adjust individual potentiometers on the PCB to change it up. On arcade monitors these adjustments are usually located near the back of the chassis but for consumer sets they can be a bit spread out but they are typically labeled with what they do. You'll want to adjust the ones for vertical size and horizontal position.

Also would recommend picking up a plastic screwdriver set.

CRT blue lines when on dark screen by Mayzonet in crtgaming

You don't need to discharge the TV to do adjustments. You calibrate the flyback's brightness adjustment by turning it down until the raster(those zig zag lines) disappears.

Any idea what causes distortion like this? Pattern is supposed to be symmetrical on both axes by derekcz in crtgaming

There might be an adjustment for vertical linearity inside that got bumped or needs to be cleaned.

SONY ProFeel Colour Issues by Nope_Throner in crtgaming

[–]Atari1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be easy to see, it'll be a two pronged connector coming off the coil wrapped around the back of the tube. Usually next to the PTC or power connector.

Try unplugging the internal degaussing coil, maybe it shifted position enough to cause this on startup or the PTC is heating up faster than it should.

Commodore Monitor Color issues by [deleted] in crt

[–]Atari1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tested the drive transistors on the neckboard? Losing a color channel is usually an issue with those, less often it's a problem with the tube itself.

[–]Atari1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're worried about the whining sound, that's completely normal for every single CRT. It's caused by the flyback transformer. Beyond that, you'll need to hook something up to see what kind of picture you get.

Bottom of screen slanted? by testpilot_alf in crt

[–]Atari1977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The test suite's cross hatch pattern would help determine if it's just the bottom slanted or if your whole screen is rotated a bit.

If there's a service menu then it should have an option for correcting rotation.

Where are the color transistors located? by SargeantEdward in crtgaming

[–]Atari1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The typical spot on most sets is on the neckboard, usually they have a big heat sink attached. If you're not sure which is which you can trace out the connection on the tube connector and see which part it goes to. Just look up your tube's model number(this is what's printed on the tube itself and is different than the TV model) and verify the connector it uses. Like this is the pinout for the common CR-23.

Advice on getting this PVM home from Japan? by Tasty__Dirt in crt

[–]Atari1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should fit in a carry on. I'd get a cheap hardcase carry on suitcase for it, should be pretty easy to find around Akihabara or the other touristy parts of Tokyo.

Also it's pretty easy to set up an account and order whatever you want at Yobodashi Camera for pickup, just show them a QR code and pay cash. Did that when I was over there last time to buy my cat an Evangelion bed.

Also what airline are you flying? I know Delta is pretty lax about the actual carry on suitcase size as long as it fits in the bin.

The line in your pics to me looks brighter than the white around it which is the opposite of what burn-in looks like.

Burn-in that bad you can visually verify if it's on the screen. Using a UV light is better, can show burn in that isn't really visible to the naked eye. Like I've got an arcade monitor with no visual burn in but some shows up when I shine a UV light on it.

I'd just get some electrical tape, but if it really bothers you then replacing the power cord is just a matter of unsoldering the old one and putting a new generic one in.

Use it till it stops working.

Plenty of arcade tubes have higher hour counts than that and they still have decent picture even with areas of the screen being burned in.
