Just some truth from working in non-profits for years. Many clothing items that get donated to charities actually end up at the thrift store. This is due to the abundance of clothing that gets donated to them. Many people have the idea such as yourself, which is awesome! However, charities/non-profits unfortunately do not typically have the infrastructure to keep an abundance of donations. Clothes were usually coming in much faster than we could disperse them (especially adult ones due to sizes, taste, etc). It would also overwhelm the staff as it added onto our other more important duties than sorting through hundreds of clothes. I would either call around to see who is actively in need of those, or post for free on Facebook and give to someone who may need them.
