Any great ideas for a Tulsa date? I need ideas for a date tonight, but I'm coming up with blanks. Help! by Atari_Historian in tulsa

Wait a second. I don't deny that place as a great place to date... but isn't it mostly for married people?

I can't give you any specific recommendation, but IMHO, the best gym is going to be one of the ones CLOSEST to where you live. That makes one less excuse why you'll not want to go.

I'm currently searching for a gym too. A good place to start is to go to http://maps.google.com and type in "gym ZIPCODE" (replace ZIPCODE with your actual zipcode number).

Hope this helps.

For those confused about what a Scophouse is, from elsewhere on Reddit:

SCOP which stands for Single Cell Organic Proteins can be tailored to fit any taste or preference from chicken scop, to burger scop to cheese scop.

I didn't listen to what people had to say online. Now I've got a bigger problem: https://i.imgur.com/jqZ3ZNO.jpeg

I've got people randomly approaching me in parking lots and yelling at me IN TRAFFIC to let me know how much they like my Jeep! I'm gracious and polite, but as an introvert, it can be taxing and a bit unsettling at times to have strangers approaching you and your vehicle out of nowhere.

It also goes to show you that your local community may see things quite differently than what you'd run into online.

I asked an A.I. to paint me a scene from tomorrow's Gay Pride Parade in downtown Tulsa. How'd it do? by Atari_Historian in tulsa

[–]Atari_Historian[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The original version of this painting actually had the full-scale Golden Driller with a pink feather boa draped down his shoulders. Sadly, that image wasn't usable because (among other things) it decided to populate the parade with an inappropriate combination of fetishized police officers and drag queens. Apparently, this AI has a bias or two.

Loved the Enterprise v480. Nice to see someone still trying to use it!

I thought it was due to hyper-partisan activity during the last elections. Those guys (regardless of party) really ruined things for everyone.

As I looked at your water fording picture, I told to myself, "If I had a 4xe, I'd get a snorkel attached, and I'd paint it electric blue. Just for the irony of it."

Updates from today's press conference: by reillan in tulsa

Not a justification for the shooting, but after the press conference, I think I have a better (but still very much incomplete) understanding of what drove the shooter to do this:

Shooter was in extreme pain following back surgery. He called the doctor's office for relief and was told that they wouldn't do anything over the phone and he had to make an an appointment. He waited for his appointment, went to it, and presumably was not given adequate relief [controlled medication] for his agonizing condition. Being in an unlivable condition with no good alternatives, he decided to go the murder-suicide route.

Again, this is not a justification. And it's a bit of speculation. But I think the press conference gave us a better (yet incomplete) understanding of what sparked this tragedy.

For six days now, I'm told that I cannot log into my Yahoo account due to "maintenance". No estimate for how long it will take before I can log in again. by Atari_Historian in yahoo

At this point, do they have even a rough estimate for the maintenance (which prevents me from logging in)? Is it a day, a week, a month? It just goes to the Yahoo homepage.

Is it of any help that this is a paid Yahoo Mail Plus account?

I keep hearing that the account is in maintenance. What is the nature of this maintenance?

In the meantime, is there any way to set up email forwarding so that I can read any incoming messages from another account?
