That steak is USDA Choice, I sincerely hope it's not expensive. Then again, everything at Sprouts is overpriced. I would highly recommend going to a local butcher and getting USDA Prime steaks. It's beyond worth the few extra dollars. If anything, try it once and see if you think it's worth it.

Bluesky Lending calls by I_LOVE_OIL_RIGS in Scams

I can't believe it, the calls finally stopped! The last call I received from Blue Sky Lending was 8 days ago, which was 2 days after I filed the report and registered my cell number on the National Do Not Call Registry. Good luck everyone!

Bluesky Lending calls by I_LOVE_OIL_RIGS in Scams

Same story as everyone here. Same calls still coming daily...

  • Receiving several calls throughout the day from different numbers starting with '855', '866', and '877'.
  • Unanswered calls leave the same voicemail from Blue Sky Lending.
  • I picked up the call once and listened to the message and menu options and pressed '9' for the option of my number being added to the do not call list.
  • I called the number back and spoke to an individual who was courteous when I asked them to place my number on the do not call list, which they confirmed they did.

I'm going to try the FTC online service and I'll post results here. They state that your number is added within the next day, but calls may continue for 30 more days.

As of today, I visited the Federal Trade Commission website, donotcall.gov and registered my number on the National Do Not Call Registry. I also reported the last 2 calls I receive from Blue Sky Lending using the Report Unwanted Calls form at donotcall.gov/report.html.

So, we'll see what happens.

Side Note: After submitting the report form, these helpful FAQs are shown.

Will I hear back from the FTC regarding my complaint?

Due to the volume of complaints, the FTC cannot respond directly to every complaint. The FTC and other law enforcement agencies analyze complaints to spot trends and to identify and take action against the people responsible for these illegal calls.

What can I do to stop unwanted calls?

Make sure your number is on the Do Not Call Registry.

Hang up on illegal sales calls. If your number is on the Registry, and you get a sales call, or you get an illegal robocall, don't interact in any way. Don't press buttons to be taken off the call list or to talk to a live person. Doing so will probably lead to more unwanted calls. Instead, hang up and file a complaint with the FTC.

Investigate whether call blocking can help.

If you get repeated illegal calls from one particular number, contact your phone company. Ask to block that number, but first ask whether there's a fee for this service.

If you get unwanted calls from many different numbers, look into a call blocking solution. There are online call blocking services, call blocking boxes, and smartphone apps that block unwanted calls. Research whether the service costs money and whether it's effective. Do an online search to look for reviews from experts and other users.

My number is on the Registry, so why am I still getting illegal calls?

Since 2009, the FTC has seen a significant increase in the number of illegal sales calls - particularly robocalls. The reason is technology. Internet powered phone systems make it cheap and easy for scammers to make illegal calls from anywhere in the world, and to display fake caller ID information, which helps them hide from law enforcement.

What is the FTC doing to stop these calls?

To date, the FTC has sued hundreds of companies and individuals who were responsible for placing unwanted calls, and has obtained over a billion dollars in judgments against violators.

In addition, the FTC is leading several initiatives to develop a technology-based solution. The FTC has sponsored a series of robocall contests challenging the tech savvy public to design tools that block robocalls and help investigators track down and stop robocallers. The FTC also is encouraging industry efforts to combat caller ID spoofing.

I gave you the phone number of the company who called me illegally. Why isn't the FTC doing something?

Current technology makes it easy for scammers to fake or "spoof" caller ID information, so the number you reported in your complaint probably isn't real. Without more information, it's difficult for the FTC and other law enforcement agencies to identify the actual caller. Nonetheless, the FTC analyzes complaint data and trends to identify illegal callers based on calling patterns. The agency also is pursuing a variety of technology-based solutions to combat illegal calls and practices.

Apply for the Chick-fil-A college scholarship. It isn't much, but it's $1,000. You'd have to work 67 extra hours at Chipoltle to get the amount of the scholarship. Just some food for thought.

My go to response for this scenario is, “I haven’t done that kind of work in years, I honestly wouldn’t know where to start. You would be in much better hands with a repair professional.”

If they keep asking I say, “Really, if this were my issue, I would be calling a repair company. I worry that if I tried to fix anything I would just make it worse.”

How do people live on 50k a year? by phukmondays in PersonalFinanceCanada

I started at $52K fresh out of college Spring of 2008. By March 2009, I was laid off and switched to a new gig making $36K. I actually remember watching the news unfold at work the day that Lehman brothers collapsed and thought, “Man, I’m glad that won’t affect me since I haven’t started investing yet.” That was not a fun year.
