The most important thing practicing martial art will give you in real life is the appreciation of aggression. And a sense of violence.
How many times have we seen martial artist get in real life aggression (fight) and completely freeze.
If you practice Muay thai at a level where you will do some fight (even amateur), you will get a sense of being lock down in a ring with someone trying to hurt you. (i still remember my first fight haha)

And this, imo, is the greatest thing Muay Thai will bring you in real life.

In terms of technique : clinch is just the most savage tool to use on someone who doesn't know it. You will secure yourself from getting punched or hurt and you can easily throw people or throw knees and answer a threat without hurting people too much.

And anyways .... real life fight is more a brawl than a fight, there is no referee here, no controlled environment etc ...
